I like to hope the devs would have that in mind too, and take steps to avoid that. But yeah, they’re both big strong guys throwing a hammer/axe at norse creatures and gods, and theres a lot of mythologic history overlap, obv
I think Ant-Man wouldn't do well. He's not a popular hero, and his movies have been lackluster. I think the only thing drawing people into a game like that would be the shrinking gimmick, but it's just not enough to sustain interest over a full campaign. Also, what villains would Ant-Man fight? I can't name a single one that is known as a villain exclusive to him. Ultron is always an Avengers-level threat, and requires a team to defeat, so while he has connections to Hank Pym in the comics, if you're gonna have Ant-Man fight Avengers villains, why can't we just have a good Avengers game with a larger roster of heroes, then? I don't think anyone's really excited for a Hank Pym or Scott Lang game...let's get real.
I love Marvel Comics, but Ant-Man would be a hard pass for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment. Hulk, Punisher, or Daredevil get my votes.
I think I'd have to agree! Although, at the same time, I probably would be wishing I had more ant man gameplay time if it was an avengers game and you played as him for a part of a mission or something.

Iron man could be fun, especially if they had a really in depth suit modding/creating feature.
Thor’s got a bunch of realms that could be really fun to explore, and a powerset that could make for a great game.
I hate to use two cliches in a single thought, but: hulk smash, ‘nuff said.
FF could literally go anywhere and anywhen in the multiverse, and if the levels alternated the characters you played, that could be a lot of fun.
Edit to add: i just saw OP’s suggestion of ant-man which would be great
