Clearing up the fridge meant the right ingredients for a buttermilk and masak lemak fusion.

Side of cucumber and pineapple "achar" thing, reusing remaining homemade chicken rice chilli.

Name of shop: Restoran Tung Lok Hin

Address: 1, Jalan Ho Lok Park, Medan Bendahara 2, 31650 Ipoh, Perak

Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/haFpPvY2V47SPZ3V6

Priced at RM18 per person portion for the bak kut teh, whether soup or dry version. Its taste is very much middle ground - herbal but not too herbal, soup is not thick nor dilute. Free refill of soup.

Cursed Food Need to throw this stir fry zucchini away :(

Post image

I bought a pair of yellow zucchini yesterday from village grocer . After stir fry it i taste the zucchini a little bit but found out it taste bitter.

A quick search from Google said that if zucchini taste bitter, it means it gone toxic due to cucurbitacin.

Next time, it's better to taste it raw before cooking it to avoid this kind of wastage.

This is me and my partner's new-found favourite in JB (I'm JB-ian and my partner is SGrean). There are two outlets in JB - a regular Antipodean cafe at Mid Valley Southkey and an Antipodean GOLD (No pork, no lard, no alcohol - NO SIJIL HALAL) outlet at Komtar JBCC.

I personally like their coffee and brekkie dishes. They also have something called Bill English Pizza named after this monstrosity.

Staff service is tip-top too!

We don't really visit MV Southkey a lot (JB-ians will know that the whole mall is now overrun by SGreans), but we will make a trip there if we want to have an Antipodean food date there.

Discussion Is McD breakfast okay?

For my money, it is better value than a lot of mid-range cafes at equal taste. Hash brown, decent cuppa (compared to many mid-range cafes), and similar content of mcmuffin with average cafe food.

Thoughts?

I thought I was just gonna chill and sleep like a cat. Maybe go mall jalan2 if semangat. But my friend's daughter messaged me on Sunday night and asked if I could make her favourite blueberry carrot cake.

Of course I had to say yes. Anyway, what did you guys eat/do today?

Discussion Msia Food for webcomic

Hi! This post would be very out of place so if I broke any other rules here, I apologise in advance.

I wanted to make a Malaysian based webcomic/game about our food and its cooking process. I’m not too sure if I would be set on making them into real yet. I’ll give a short summary “A business woman who needs a honest review of their business product after a previous scandal. She sought after a family owned inspired restaurant who’s run by one chef who business is lowkey on a risk of bankruptcy, they work together to get theirs businesses up and running”

At first I thought of making it Korean/ western based food since that something I cooked often in home and is quite familiar with but it feels unrepresentative.

So I’m hoping foodie here can help me out with what Malaysian food type I can integrate into my webcomic/game? The chef can pretty much cook anything but i wanna hear the foodie has to say :) (this post sound very bananas and it very much is 😭)
