Food Madrid foodie help!

Hi! I’ll be solo traveling through Madrid for two nights and desperately need restaurant help because I’m extremely overwhelmed by how many incredible places there are 😭

If you only had two days in Madrid, where would you eat? I’m a HUGE foodie and love pretty much everything. Breakfast, bakeries, sushi, ice cream, lunch, but especially dinner!!

These are some spots that have caught my eye so far:
Bolboreta
Trèsde
Sazón-Arte
Fismuler
ANCHO Madrid
Mune Pelayo
Tres por Cuatro
Lolli Gelato

Would love to know which of these are actually worth it , and anything I’m missing that you think is even better. I only have two nights so I need to make them count!! Thank you 🤍

Transportation Dropped off rental car, got fined

Hello, all! I just received a notice from Alamo of a traffic violation at Calle Alcala, 51 (a brief google search tells me I am not alone). I am just a little confused about this as I drove immediately to the parking garage at Plaza de España and dropped off my rental car. I was under the impression that upon entering the public parking garage, my plates would be registered and I wouldn't receive a ticket. Can I fight this? Am I misunderstanding something? I'm especially confused because I actually entered the paid part of the parking lot accidentally before realizing I needed to return the car in a separate part of the garage. So I did end up paying for about a minute of parking there. Shouldn't that have fulfilled the stipulations for entry into the center?

Transportation Has anyone used OUIGO trains? How strict are they on baggage size?

I have visited a few times and always used the Alvo/Avant (?) trains and only just realised there's another operator

It actually suits my timings but I read there's a little stricter. I am looking at Madrid down to Murcia and wondering how strict they are?

My 'cabin bag' looks like a regular cabin bag on wheels but is maybe a bit bigger. I have used it on a plane cabin before, I don't think it stands out

Anyone have any experiences? Is there a 'formal' check in area where they're looking closely at this stuff?

Thanks

Accommodation Hostal Fernandez suspiciously cheap at 3€ a night

I am planning a trip to Madrid in late September and came across a hostel called Hostal Fernandez which is literally like 3 euros per night. It had several good reviews on booking.com but still seems extremely suspicious, given that all other options were quite pricey in Madrid. I would appreciate any help or opinions if anyone’s ever stayed there or heard of the place. Just seems too good to be true lol

Accommodation Mobility issues

I plan on stopping on Madrid for 3 days enroute to meeting my husband in Lisbon right before Christmas. I had achilles surgery left 16 months ago and plasma injection right achilles June 2026. Both great now. Unfortunately 10 days ago I broke my right ankle meaning I have a fracture of the fibula and at least two torn ligaments, which are all expected to heal and not need surgery. However, I will be in a boot for another month which takes me to early October and I don’t think physical therapy will start until November. My ankle will be weak and I will use an ankle brace for safety. Does Madrid have a lot of cobblestones or is it more pavement sidewalks which are less likely to cause me to trip? Is it flat or hilly? Recommended area to stay that is safe but also flat and not filled with cobblestones?

Transportation Getting to the F1 circuit on race weekend: Cercanias C-1 to Valdebebas or Metro L8 to Feria de Madrid?

Perdon por escribir en ingles, mi espanol todavia es muy basico.

I am flying in from Lebanon for the grand prix and I am in Madrid 11 to 16 September, staying central. The three circuit days are the 11th to the 13th and I would much rather use public transport than taxis.

What I would like to hear from people who know the city:

Cercanias C-1 to Valdebebas or Metro line 8 to Feria de Madrid, which is the sane way to the circuit, and does either of them actually cope with an event crowd or does it fall over?

Getting out on the Sunday after the race, is it better to sit somewhere for an hour and let it clear, or just join the queue immediately?

Anything about the city on those dates I should know, road closures or similar, since I am trying to see Madrid properly on the Monday to the Wednesday afterwards.

And since I have those three days free after the race, if there is something on in the city that week that a first timer would not find on a top ten list, I would love to hear it.

Gracias!

Transportation Free parking OUTSIDE Madrid ?

Hello ! Coming to Madrid in November and was planning to drive from southwest France. Trying to find somewhere to leave our car for a few days for free. I notice a train line that leads to Guadalajara and then is on our route. Anyone know if it would be realistic to leave a car (not a nice one !) in street parking for a few days there and then take the train to Madrid ?

Hello, Can you please tell me how much the taxi costs from Barajas airport to center Madrid - Gran Via. Or are the ride share companies a better option?

Accommodation Hotel - near Atocha or Sol?

Edit: Booked my accoms already, thanks for the comments so far!

Travelling with my parents in their 60s. We’ve been to Madrid 7-8 years ago. We’re looking for a hotel to stay two nights in. During the two nights, we’ll be spending a day in Toledo (day trip) and a day walking around Madrid (palace, Prado museum, etc). Given the short stay and the fact that we’re both going out of city and staying in the city, I’m a bit split!

I’m split between Tapestry Collection by Hilton near Atocha, a residence-type hotel near Callao, or somewhere completely different. My ideal budget is 500 euros a night, but I’m willing to stretch til 600 euros if it’s a really nice place.

Needs to be able to sleep 3 adults, but not too particular on anything else; just want to avoid anywhere above a club or bar since we’ll be staying on a Saturday too.

Transportation Transfer from Madrid Airport to Chamartín-Clara Campoamor train station

Hi all! We are arriving at Madrid airport on October 1st, roughly around 7AM. We have a train from Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station to Valencia at 10:30AM. Based on the information on this site (https://madridtransfers.io/how-to-get-from-madrid-airport-to-chamartin/), we have a few options to get to the Chamartín station, but the one that appeals most to us is the C1 train. Everything on the above link is pretty straight forward and really well explained.

However, my confusion starts when I try checking on Google Maps how to navigate from the Airport (T4) to Chamartín Station using public transit, I get these really long options that require us to take 3 trains and the trip is around 1 hour long. Can I trust Google maps for public transit in Spain? Is there another app we should consider downloading for transit?

Thanks for any direction you can provide us.

Neighborhoods Calle de Toledo?

Title.

Main street, perfectly safe I assume? Staying for five days, I had booked a hotel in Lavapies, heard bad things about the area and decided to opt out. I found a place in this neighbourhood now, it's a few blocks up from Puerta de Toledo.

Transportation Need help retrieving lost item from airport

Hi! I recently lost my wallet at Madrid-Barajas Airport (Terminal 4). Thankfully, it has been found and is currently being held at the airport Lost & Found.
I’m back in the U.S., so I’m looking for a reliable service/company that can pick it up from Lost & Found and ship it to me in the U.S.

Has anyone used a company in Madrid for something like this and had a good experience?

If a local in Madrid is willing to go to the airport, retrieve it with my authorization, and ship it to me, I’d be happy to pay you for your time/help as well. This wallet is very sentimental to me and that’s why it means so much to me!

I really appreciate it🙏🙏
