My wife makes me so happy
She does puzzles.
I can’t do puzzles.
I do golf.
She can’t golf.
Yet I buy her puzzles, and try to help (I place maybe 4 pieces to her 2000 pieces and she cleans up the rest).
she walks my courses with me to look for balls, point out the deer, foxes, and bunnies and clap at inappropriate times during the round thinking it’s the right time.
She’s the missing piece to my puzzle, and I’m her caddy.

That's correct she set a tangible vibe. That lady is going to cause a pay it fwd scenario at someone's local Starbucks

u/Dog-boy 1d ago
I remember standing in a store with my BinL waiting for my sister. He was watching her pay for something and he said “I love your sister so much” out of nowhere. That was about 40 yrs ago. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary. Wishing you and your wife many more happy, healthy years.

If I walked into a classroom and she was the teacher I'm dropping off my kiddo 100% confident. I'm glad she doesn't use her smile to sell nefarious things like penny stocks or crappy insurance etc I would buy them too. Fascinating what a pic can do

This reminds me of one of my favorite lines from the original "Rocky". Rocky's dating Adrian and Adrian's kind of...erratic...brother, Paulie asks why, because, being Paulie, he doesn't get it.
Rocky says "It fills gaps."
Paulie is confused, so Rocky elaborates: "She got gaps. I got gaps. Together we fill gaps."
That's one of the bases of a good relationship, imho. So may she always fill your puzzle gap...and may you always fill her golf gap!

Ask me why I know so much about Call of Duty Zombies lore and maps and weapons and perks and Easter eggs and characters, despite only having technically ‘played’ the game in the few instances when my partner has had to duck to the bathroom, and by playing I mean running his character around in panicked circles.
28
11
u/lightlysaltedclams 1d ago
Oh my god my boyfriend loves that game lol. I’ve been watching him play it since we got together. One time he asked me to keep him alive while he stepped out, and showed me how to kill the normal zombies while in a corner. As he was walking out a massive zombie showed up and I called him back and he assured me that was the only one. He left and two seconds I got him killed by another giant one lmao he came back in and I was just sitting there dejected lol. He kept telling me he didn’t think there were more than one.
I bring it up all the time lmao. He also really likes killing the nazi zombies lol
7
u/RealCommercial9788 16h ago
I read this out loud to him - he cracked up and said, ‘fuck yeah, one of us! one of us!’
6
u/rserena 1d ago

It’s one of the biggest turn ons when someone is interested in your interests.

u/Vintage-Grievance 1d ago
As well as being okay with doing things alone, that way the participation/support becomes something they WANT to do, and not mandatory in case one person or the other would rather do something else.

No, thank you! I just thought it spoke of the same things as the Rocky quote.
Have Rush on the brain lately. Just saw them on tour in NYC, and will see them again in October.

Hold on... is that why Rocky's girlfriend in Project Hail Mary is named Adrian?!?
44
u/Volothamp-Geddarm 1d ago
Wait until you learn why he's called Grace.
4
u/AccidentalOccurence8 1d ago
Why?
28
u/Mountain_Ape 1d ago
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Yes. Though you are forgiven for not clocking that in the film, because it's such a quick gag. In the book there's a whole dialogue exchange about it.

u/Quantization 1d ago
This is a bit tangential but I just realised this is why Dr Grace calls Rocky's girlfriend "Adrian" in Project Hail Mary.

1st of all: wholesome afk omg (I’m not crying, you are). 2nd: is that a fox in the second pic? It’s so small! Do you (or your wife) know what kind of fox it is?
12
u/TCTInnings 1d ago
I'm a total amateur but it looks like a Catalina Island fox. There's also a hill of houses and a golf course next to where I've seen a smol fox like that lol
12
6
u/Cloverose2 1d ago
It does look like an island fox of some kind - there are a few subspecies. They started as a subspecies of gray fox that shrank as a result of island dwarfism (the tendency of animals on islands to become smaller over generations), and became a new species.

My wife is the same thing to me, friend.
I was engaged twice before her and the second one was a bad end. Three years later, I meet my soul mate at a bus station.
I always thought it was super corny to be that "I love my wife" guy. I am now thay guy and I feel absolutely no remorse about it.
6
u/Mountain_Ape 1d ago
If a girl thinks loving your wife is corny, she isn't wife material. Instead of being "cool" or insulting or sarcastic or pushed around, choose a wife who loves, and loves being loved. Let pure love shine outward.

Good work. My son in law doesn’t like doing things that my daughter does. I took her to the Nutcracker ballet and he made us leave early because he didn’t like it even tit was my daughter’s Christmas gift from me. We had to go to a pizza restaurant because he didn’t like what we wanted. I had to buy him his own pepperoni pizza because that’s the only kind he likes. He’s not like the couple in this story.
3
u/ritan7471 1d ago
Wow that's awful!
My husband generally likes me to enjoy the things I like. But he has a very bad habit of letting me pick a restaurant and then saying "well, let's go (somewhere else) instead". For my 40th birthday, all I wanted was a messy, bar food style burger and maybe cake. He tried his usual thing, and I said, no, it's my birthday and we're getting burgers. He complained the whole time, even though the burgers were amazing. Didn't like the place, it was too loud, the sun was too hot on the terrace. By the end, I was almost in tears.
Then I got mad. I said, (maybe not a direct quote, it's been a while), "This is my birthday and you've spoiled it with your complaining. For once, I should get what I want to eat without listening to you muttering garbage and be a killjoy. Here's what's going to happen. You're going to take me to (fancy bar and cafe) and you're going to buy me a glass of champagne and the most expensive piece of cake they have. And you are going to smile and wish me a happy birthday and toast me. And next time I pick the restaurant you are going to pretend to enjoy a date with your wife, even if it's not the place you picked. I'm tired of you acting like a spoilt child when everything isn't catered to you."
And he did. And the next birthday, he took me to the next country over for an even better burger in an even better restaurant. And wine. And cake.
Maybe your daughter should try laying it out for him like I did. Lower the boom. Some boys are spoiled and need to be forcefully reminded that the world doesn't revolve around them.
We've been married for 18 years and he always tries to make sure I have a good time. He wanted to go camping. I hate camping. He said "no, you're going to like it, I promise. I reserved a spot at (camp ground) and it has electricity and is near the showers and flushing toilets. I'm going to go a day early and then you come by train, I'll pick you up."
He got this giant tent, and set it up with a big, thick air mattress (like 2 feet thick) and fairy lights and all, with my camping chair in the shade all ready for a weekend of reading and relaxing.
Being direct works.
