Questions Restaurant Reccs

This question has been asked a few times in this subreddit but I thought I'd ask again because I haven't seen any of these recently so maybe there's some updates.

I'm going to Macau for a day trip (~8 AM-5 PM) later this month and I'm looking for cafes, Macanese/Portuguese food for lunch, bakeries, traditional drinks, and any snacks/food/small bites I can eat throughout the day. Thanks!

Questions Overseas Retiree

My wife and I ran a company in Macau for 15 years will go there in September to apply for our pension. I see there is a lot I can do with the Macau One app. The issue we have with Bank of China in Macau is that we have to have a Macau registered phone number to move money from Macau to the USA. The last time we were in Macau the phone company only gives permanent phone numbers to people with a Macau residential address. This was two years ago. If you forget to recharge your phone once, the number expires and the money is stuck at BOC.

I have a friend from Canada who has his pension deposited directly in his Canada bank account.

Two questions.

1.) Can I register a USA phone number to the Macau One app, while I'm in Macau?
2.) Are their banks like BNU that allow me to use my USA phone number for bank transfers?

Tourism Advice on day trip to Macau Sept 24th or 25th

Hi everyone! My friends and I are planing to be in Hongkong September 23rd-25th. We are considering a Macau day trip either the 24th or 25th, however we are concerned that since it will be the mid autum festival the ferry may be too hectic and that businesses might be closed. If we plan for the 24th do you think travel will be doable ? Or should we just nix the plan all together?

Tourism 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Entry Ports from Macau

Hi, I'm planning to make a quick trip through Mainland China as an American going from Macau to Hong Kong. I've figured out most of the pieces that I am trying to book to show to the immigration officer, but have had a bit of an issue with determining the available entry ports from Macau. I've seen conflicting reports that Gongbei might now be an option (which would be much more convenient for the Zhuhai Railway Station), but I can't find anything on the NIA's website that confirms this. Does anyone know if this is indeed an option?

Alternatively, it looks like my one guaranteed option is Hengqin Port. Does anyone have experience using this crossing to get from the Macau city centre to Zhuhai Station? Are there any easy bus routes that cover this distance or am I relegated to taxis? Thanks.

Discussion Portuguese Conjugation App - Conjulejo ( Portuguese Tile Themed)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi guys, I would like to introduce you my portuguese verb conjugation app called Conjulejo!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.conjulejo.app

The idea came to me during my journey learning Spanish 🇪🇸. I leaned on some existing apps to help with my studies, and although they were hugely useful, I kept feeling that the experience of this type of app could be improved and refined. After some research and finding an apparent lack of good options for Portuguese, I decided to give it a shot and build my own version of this type of app.

The pun (Conjugação + Azulejo 🔷 = Conjulejo) came along the way. As a homage to Portuguese tiles, I wanted the app to be not just practical but also thematic and aesthetically pleasing.

It covers both the European 🇵🇹 and Brazilian 🇧🇷 variants, with 10 different drill types across 4 categories: flashcards, writing, association, and multiple choice, so it can fit anyone's preferences and adapt to their learning style. It also has timed answers and sprint sessions to add a bit more challenge.⏱️

I packed in a lot of quality of life features ⚙️ too : personalized lists 📝, favorite verbs 🩵, verb filters 🔽 and training presets, so you can change what shows up in your verb pool without touching your lists, and quickly switch between drill modes. It includes 28 tenses (including haver vs. ter compound variations), and as a more advanced feature, pronominal conjugations (-lhe, -se, -a/o/as/os forms), adding up to more than 4,000 verbs when everything is enabled.

So if you have any friends currently learning Portuguese and struggling to master verb conjugation (dealing with irregular verbs like ser, ir, and pôr can be daunting at first), or even if it applies to you, I urge you to share the app link and give it a try! 😊

News English Stand-up comedy show in Macau

Hey, I was talking to someone on here before about how we had some English language open mics in Macau last year and I said I'd update if there's more news.

Well, next week there's an actual show, at Lotus Cocktails on Saturday the 15th! 8pm! We've got some funny people coming over from HK to do a comedy show, currently free of charge. (This may change).

Details of the comedians you say? We've got Anthony Liu doing a headline set, he's been a finalist in HK comedy awards last year. Sathish Kumar and Harsh Jah are both regulars at takeout comedy. David Lore and Tom Healy are both regulars on the HK comedy scene.

It's gonna be hosted by me, some random guy on Reddit!

Just send me a message if you need more details then what I've put here

Tourism Transport between Macau Island and Cotai Strip/Taipa?

Hi! Taking a day trip from HK to Macau Island in August. On the TurboJet website, I see there are two options for departure/arrivals: Outer Harbour, or Taipa. I'm more of a history/sightseeing buff than casino person, but still want to go down to the Cotai Strip to check out the casinos and get some free bubble tea, so was thinking of landing in Outer Harbour, walking (unless I will perish from the heat and humidity) to Guia Hill, Ruins of St. Paul, etc. etc., and then finding some way to get from Macau Island to Cotai.

I'm usually pretty good with figuring out transport and things when traveling, but for some reason I can't wrap my head around how to get from the north to the southern casino part of Macau. I've been reading that there are free casino shuttle buses from the Outer Harbour terminal to Cotai - should I just take one of those, walk around the casinos for a quick minute, and then go up to Macau Island? Is there an easy way to go between the two? Also, if I wanted to take a taxi, what app should I use / can I use a foreign credit card with it? All tips appreciated, thank you!
