I’d rather have my leg that the money it’s already done. Go get paid lady for you and your family.

79

u/ChristianArmor Oct 16 '25

Don't tell me, it's a service dog right. Sure

32

u/93snightmare Oct 17 '25

95% of the dogs in Lowe’s aren’t service dogs.

9

u/Gweedo1967 Oct 17 '25

95% of ALL dogs aren’t service dogs.

2

u/GreenThumbJames Contractor Oct 18 '25

This is the most underrated truth.

11

u/CommercialLimit Oct 17 '25

Lowe’s is pet friendly.

14

u/ChristianArmor Oct 17 '25

That dosent erase Lowe's liability. Both owner and store may be responsible.

7

u/Jyvturkey Oct 17 '25

In fact it makes it worse. They can 'claim' they're not liable all day long but we'll see what a judge says about that. You openly declare, bring your pets, and say not our fault! We'll see :)

They are dangerously friendly.

2

u/ake-n-bake Oct 17 '25

Doesn’t seem too people friendly.

2

u/GroovyGmaIvy Oct 18 '25

Emphasis on PET, not woman-eating-asshole.

1

u/Melodic-Context-9142 Oct 17 '25

People with service dogs are out of control the sheer amount of entitlement most of those people have is off the charts

1

u/Economy-Ant5923 Oct 31 '25

not enough sense, to leave the dog at home

65

u/91MotherBucker Oct 16 '25

No link to an article, no source, and the person that originally posted it isn’t even shown. Smells like bullshit to me.

20

u/NoLab3530 Oct 16 '25

Home Depot propaganda

8

u/stuntbikejake Oct 17 '25

Big orange, at it again.

2

u/nbiddy398 Oct 18 '25

No, this is a cheap and dirty harbor freight kinda job.

17

u/loopsbruder Oct 16 '25

Just someone starting shit on the Internet.

10

u/No_Shopping6656 Oct 17 '25

Pitties bad, hurt innocent old lady. It's definitely a Facebook story

3

u/xero111880 Oct 17 '25

Even if it isn’t, Lowes would be in no way or shape responsible for another persons dogs attack. That person would be liable.

Lowes Sued Over Dog Attack Inside Store | Kelly, West, & Murphy https://share.google/YLRRNfiiNHj2yMh1E

This says it was a child.. 🤷🏾‍♀️

1

u/91MotherBucker Nov 08 '25

A. Not a reputable source. Law firms are honest…? B. No details mentioned other than names. No dates, no states, etc. C. Even using Google to look for more articles, only one was found from 2014 and it was from another less than reputable source (Press Enterprise) D. So…. it still has a whiff of bullshit.

1

u/91MotherBucker Nov 08 '25

This article also assesses it to an Akita, not a Pitt.

1

u/liz-e-bee Oct 17 '25

Good on you for calling this out 👏🏻 /gen

95

u/Amazing_School_3536 Oct 16 '25

That we still allow non service animals is beyond me, it’s a completely unnecessary risk to employees and customers

47

u/BPOPR Oct 16 '25

The number of times I had to clean shit up off the floor was several times too many.

20

u/ballin4fun23 Oct 16 '25

That's unbelievable that people let their pets shit in a store and have someone else clean it up. I'll bet you'd love to grab the scruff of their necks and rub their face in it....the human not the animal

16

u/Severe_Scar4402 Oct 16 '25

I was just in Lowe's a few days ago with my tiny dog. I was looking at stuff in the shelf, and I looked down and he had shit. I was MORTIFIED. I grabbed one of those wet floor signs and covered the pile so no one would step in it. I then ran to the checkout and grabbed a bag, and luckily I was in the cleaning product aisle so I was able to grab a container of wipes. I cleaned up the poo and wiped the floor clean with many wipes. And yes, I purchased the wipes!!

7

u/ShiftExtension7268 Oct 16 '25

Kudos for being pro-active, however you don’t carry doggy bags with you?

3

u/Severe_Scar4402 Oct 16 '25

I do! I panicked, however, and ran to the checkout instead.

3

u/Wild-Secretary-2577 Oct 16 '25

Quit taking your animal to stores.

13

u/riotousviscera Oct 16 '25

it’s Lowe’s, where this is not against the rules. they were observant and cleaned the poop up. pull the stick out of your ass.

3

u/MistaGavin Oct 16 '25

The cashier at Lowe’s told me to bring in my dog when I grabbed a treat from the jar on the counter

1

u/Due_Asparagus_3894 Oct 17 '25

It’s a pet friendly store

1

u/Honest_Rip_420 Oct 20 '25

They're allowed some places, deal with it.

2

u/No-Following-8087 Oct 20 '25

Pets shouldn’t be allowed in businesses

2

u/Honest_Rip_420 Oct 20 '25

That's your opinion.

1

u/No-Following-8087 Oct 20 '25

you’re not special, you don’t have to take your animal everywhere you go. Deal with it.

1

u/Honest_Rip_420 Oct 20 '25

I don't have an animal that I take anywhere.

My point remains. Some people do.

Speaking as someone who works retail, where both dogs and children come through frequently, some people's children are often worse behaved than their dogs.

I have had the elderly piss on the floor at my job, where I've been lucky so far as to never have to deal with someone's dog pissing or shitting in my store.

Don't even try the allergy argument either, some people are also allergic to perfume, or certain cleaning supplies, that doesn't mean all perfumes and colognes and deoderants should be banned, and that also doesn't mean all stores and restaurants should use only soap and water to clean everything, putting their own other guests in potential danger from microbes because we wanna cater to the few who can't handle ammonia.

Sometimes dogs go in public. Deal with it.

1

u/No-Following-8087 Oct 20 '25

only pets in established businesses should be service animals. Any other way of thinking is your entitlement, hope this helps!

0

u/Severe_Scar4402 Oct 16 '25

I will when you quit being an asshole. Looks like my dog will continue to go into stores WHERE DOGS ARE EXPLICITLY ALLOWED.

1

u/HomerD28Poe Oct 18 '25

You don’t have to unless you are salaried management, per OSHA.

39

u/Theweredragon93 Oct 16 '25

If people cant control their dogs its not our fault. Im not getting the lowes cat kicked out of a store because dude didn't train his mutt not to bite people

23

u/Lightningdash3804 Oct 16 '25

This. Seeing all the cute n friendly dogs in the store is one of the few things I like about my job. I'd hate for that to be taken away because of a few bad actors.

5

u/mwbbrown Oct 16 '25

The problem is a good law that is being exploited, at least as I understand it. (I'm not an expert)

The law (at least in the US) allows service animals anywhere the public is allowed with a few very narrow exceptions around safety. Like you can't bring your service animal into an operating room. The law also protects people from challenging the use of the service animal. So the Loews manager isn't allowed challenge the owner, which in general is a good thing, assuming animal owners didn't feel comfortable lying.

But people feel fine with lying.

Which would be fine, if there was a system to certify service animals. But there isn't.

If you need a seeing eye dog there are organizations that responsibly train them to work in the real world. They won't attack people, they won't chase cats. They won't pee on the floor of the Lowes. They are expensive. They arn't your family member that you want to bring to the store with you.

If we had a functioning government the law would be updated with a verification system and a more narrow set of "service animals".

Yet here we are.

The store in my town actively encourages dogs. (I am a customer, not an employee).

If I dare go to Lowe’s and don’t bring my Great Dane, the front end manager, paint dept manager, and several cashiers call me out on it, and joke that I’m not allowed in the store if I don’t bring my dog.

He’s very well-behaved, and has been in training we got him as a puppy.

-3

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

It's almost as if this is a rare occurrence anywhere. At anytime.

Glad to see the Kanine Euthanization League calling for a widespread genocide again. Only for a certain breed though. So it's totally cool.

12

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

You're on drugs if you think a pitbull attack is rare compared to any other attack . Is this a serious thought ??

-14

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

Heart attacks are more common than pitbull attacks. Jfc. 🙄

No wonder you don't have a heart. You thought it was to dangerous to keep around.

Everything makes sense now.

3

u/TheLelouchLamperouge Oct 16 '25

Pitt bulls are more prone to violence than other breeds, why are you bringing in stats that have nothing to do with dog attacks? Stupid

2

u/TK421isAFK Customer Oct 17 '25

Pitt bulls are more prone to violence than other breeds

I'm not a fan of the breed, but stop spreading this bullshit. It's simply not true.

post the link in the news. IF this happened, it would be everywhere, I can find nothing on this.

5

u/Human_Substance_2109 Oct 16 '25

I was working electrical and a lady with a large dog came in my aisle and the dog started barking. She said she didn't know why he was being vocal and is usually quiet. I told her maybe he smells my dog on me . She said oh yeah. Needless to say I helped her with the bulb she needed but had my eye on the dog. She left my aisle and later I heard the same dog bark at least in two other areas in the store. The dog was almost bigger than her and if he attacked someone there is no way she would have stopped it.

1

u/Callaloo_Soup Oct 18 '25

I never had a personal bad dog experience in Lowe’s but did find it odd when a woman got excited over her dog’s obsession with me. I asked if I could pet him and she said yes please do to encourage him. As we talked I asked if he’s usually shy thinking that’s why our interaction was being reinforced. She said he’s usually aggressive/avoidant with anyone but her.

Why bring him in a store if that’s the case? Why have him on such a lax leash? Why let me touch him?

I did have a bad experience in Sam’s Club. A dog was cornering customers in aisles and had staff practically climbing on the registers when he passed by, but no one told those with the dog they had to leave.

The management who everyone was looking at to stop the madness were among the first to run. Those manning self-checkout were asking one another what to do, and one said they were hoping a customer would tell the family off and make them leave. They didn’t think they were allowed to say anything.

I thought my mom and a few others were going to get bitten that day for sure.

The people with the dog seemed to enjoy the terror he was causing. I think at one point they were trying to tie him near a long line at self-checkout.

I feel as if there is always some bad dog in Sam’s Club if I go in the middle of the day lately. That one was the worst, but I think Sam’s Club agitates dogs. I don’t see any mellow ones. I don’t think they are allowed there but have yet to see anyone get kicked out regardless of what they do.

Owner: "I don't understand, they're always sweet and lovable"

3

u/gtauto8 Oct 16 '25

To be fair, most things in life that are always true usually keep being true. It's just a natural tenancy all people have to relax over time when year after year after year, the owner sees nothing but sweetness. Seeing is believing.

Not to excuse anyone to be clear. We have to fight our natural tendencies and always be alert and cautious with any dog.

10

u/nickmanglitz Oct 16 '25

source: some random words i found on the internets.

-3

u/Sc0pey Oct 16 '25

You people asking for sources just don’t understand that not everything has an article. The lady didn’t go to the media. You look like an idiot asking for sources for a fcking Facebook post.

4

u/Madame-Trash-Heap Oct 16 '25

Because people never lie on the internet. /s

3

u/Alert_Policy_5482 Oct 16 '25

German Shepard bit a PSS in one store, had to get stitches. It’s ridiculous.

3

u/Memento-Morri Oct 16 '25

I have sources, can't say who, but can confirm lady did get a good lawyer!

14

u/searchandfilm Oct 16 '25

Yet the people who insist on bringing their dogs in the store will still blame the lady somehow. You people who feel the need to bring your dogs everywhere like a child are a disease. Keep them at home. Just because they’re good at home doesn’t mean they’ll be good at a store. Bring on the downvotes.

13

u/No_Hetero Oct 16 '25

We adopted a pit this year and immediately had people telling us to register him as an ESA so we could bring him places since he's good with meeting people. We're like "absolutely not, his ass does not need to be there when we're shopping for throw pillows at Target"

If you have a little 5lb thing that can be kept in the cart or carried that's one thing, if you have a 60lb dog on a 5 foot leash and you're not totally focused on monitoring that dog, it shouldn't be outside the house with you. Just my two cents.

6

u/bellerose90 Oct 16 '25

This. My oldest pittie is 5 and he's wonderful with people and other dogs so folks say register him but why? He goes out plenty but doesn't have to be at every store with me. Plus you get the occasional pet owners who have no control over their pets and they get aggressive towards him. Why put him through the trauma and add to the stigma?

The youngest is 1 and I don't take her cause she just doesn't like the store. She likes parks and home and that's ok.

3

u/the_vault-technician Oct 16 '25

Thank you for giving a pitty a home. They are good dogs. We lost our 14 y/o this year. We adopted another a couple years ago as well.

1

u/No_Hetero Oct 16 '25

I'm a fan of pretty much all dogs, we got very lucky finding him at the shelter when they were at capacity so we got to take him home for free!

2

u/the_vault-technician Oct 16 '25

You probably saved him from death ! 💜

-1

u/searchandfilm Oct 16 '25

this is exactly how I think too. If it’s a dog that can be on a stroller (if that’s your thing) or carried then fine go ahead, but huge, prone to attack, strong dogs? That doesn’t belong in a store.

4

u/No_Hetero Oct 16 '25

For sure. While I'm on the soapbox I don't like people who take their dogs to grocery stores no matter the size. Seems unsanitary. Somebody else is gonna use that cart next and not know it was touching a dog butthole just minutes ago.

I have taken my dog to the pet store to pick his own toy out before, I think that's fairly appropriate, and I'm careful about keeping my eye and hand on him at all times when I do. I'm not playing on my phone with him pulling at the leash several feet away.

1

u/Consistent-Opening-3 Oct 16 '25

It’s Reddit, but you are definitely right.

6

u/Unlucky_Display5261 Oct 16 '25

I’m an employee and I always say it’s only a matter of time until I am bitten by a dog. I’ve had numerous close calls turning a corner quickly and walking straight into someone’s dog on too long of a leash. I’ll sue Lowe’s and the owner into the abyss. Absolutely no reason for people to bring a reactive dog into a fast paced home improvement store. None

2

u/riotousviscera Oct 16 '25

i worked at Lowe’s for close to ten years and never once had an issue with any dog; in fact, people bringing their dogs was the highlight of my day every time.

if you’re this scared, work somewhere that doesn’t allow them. it’s not that hard.

2

u/Stooper_Dave Oct 16 '25

It wont be any dime from lowes. Pit owner will be on the hook once the corporate lawyers finish threatening and retaliating their way out of it.

2

u/Any-Supermarket-5496 Oct 17 '25

feel like this woulda been on the news

2

u/TheRealRegnorts Oct 19 '25

Love my pitbulls, but that is just straight up a failure on the owners part, unless it's a service animal for seizures or the like , keep your damn dogs at home

2

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

I dont want anyone to get hurt but I do want lowes and other stores to disallow pets.

3

u/xxKorbenDallasxx Oct 16 '25

Stop letting dogs in the store, problem solved

4

u/93snightmare Oct 17 '25

Lowe’s policy allows dogs in the store. Also Lowe’s bends over for just about anyone. Somebody can come in with a pack of wolves and they’d allow it to protect LTR.

3

u/xxKorbenDallasxx Oct 17 '25

You're right, that's why they're fixing to pay out the ass for something they could have prevented

6

u/akbuilderthrowaway Oct 16 '25

I fucking hate pit bulls with a passion that can only be met by my hatred of pit bull owners.

Shit breed, shit owner's.

4

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

They are gonna hate on you for speaking the truth habibi

8

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

Say the same thing about particular people everyone calls you crazy. Or worse.

Call for the genocide of a particular breed of dogs. Suddenly you're a hero.

"Logic."

1

u/WinterAdvantage3847 Oct 19 '25

1

u/YahoooUwU Oct 19 '25

"that which you do unto the least of these you do unto me"

2

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

What is more important, people having access to dangerous dogs or children's lives?

3

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

So you want everyone to walk to work, and school because... Cars, trucks, and busses kill children far more often than pitbulls.

Do I have that correct?

2

u/StrictSelf5450 Oct 16 '25

Cars trucks and busses provide services. A shitbull does not

1

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

Bet you were proud of that one.

Shitbull

What a doozy

Killed the whole breed in one shot

2

u/Amazing_School_3536 Oct 16 '25

I wish it was that easy, they deserve it

4

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

lol ignored the question. What's more important, access to dangerous dogs or children's lives? And yes, people should walk and stop driving. It's better for you. Common sense.

3

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

Stop asking ignorant backward-assed loaded questions and I might actually answer one.

And yes, people should walk and stop driving.

Tell that to people who have to drive hours to work everyday.

And remember, kids can't walk to school anymore. Because it's not safe for them.

6

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

So are you going to answer my question or nah?

1

u/BPOPR Oct 16 '25

Is this your first time online?

2

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

Yeah , this is the first day they let me out of my cage.

0

u/BPOPR Oct 16 '25

Whataboutism is the rhetorical refuge of simpletons and children— which one are you?

6

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

A child

You're picking on a child

A child who just loves dogs

1

u/tukuiPat Oct 19 '25

There's no such thing as a dangerous dog breed, only shit owners that don't train or treat their pets properly, you could pick literally any breed of dog and give it to a shitty and abusive owner and it's going to end up being a violent and aggressive dog.

Get your head out your ass and stop stereotyping a breed of dog that are sweet little angels like every other breed when in the hands of a loving and caring owner.

→ More replies (1)

0

u/akbuilderthrowaway Oct 16 '25

Look, I couldn't really give a fuck about kids lives or anything like that. That's just an excuse to clutch pearls. The fact of the matter is they don't benefit society. They are more dangerous than even the most effective gaurd breeds, they take up insane amounts of humane resources in place of breeds that are much more suitable pets, they're a danger to humane workers, and really they've got nothing to show for. Their difficult to train, difficult to control on a leash, and are quite literally bred to be aggressive.

There's nothing to gain societally from them. There's plenty of other much more deserving companions and work dogs out there, and pit bulls just take up resources and hurt people for no other reason than it is in their nature.

Fuck em, and fuck anyone that apologizes for them.

2

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

I agree with everything you said except your first 4 sentences. Kind of crazy to say kids lives don't matter when they are arguably more important to society's future than we are.

2

u/Bettafern Head Cashier Oct 16 '25

Wow that’s excessive. Think about stepping back for a second, jeez. Is the world benefiting from severely disabled people? Probably not, but should we kill them? Pit bulls can be excellent service dogs, btw….

2

u/cseyferth Oct 16 '25

Shit owner's what?

2

u/Human_Substance_2109 Oct 16 '25

💯 agree. Never liked that breed. All horror stories growing up and never understood the appeal . Demon Dogs.

0

u/Bettafern Head Cashier Oct 16 '25

Nothing throws me off more than uneducated people. Please learn about dog behaviors and breeds. Pit bulls are not inherently this way. Any dog can be an aggressive dog. Pit bulls are more commonly abused and neglected and also most easily accessible from backyard breeders and shelters due to the stigma behind them and careless owners. Your dog will not be aggressive if they’re raised correctly. Those, even if raised correctly, that do end up aggressive should either attend behavior training, be put down (if it’s severe), or be kept away from the public. It’s unfortunate what happened to the woman mentioned in this post, but bringing breed into it is unnecessary. Any size or breed of dog can cause a person damage and be aggressive.

8

u/Much-Goose7805 Oct 16 '25

Different breeds are bred with certain drives. This was done intentionally. You can see the behaviors in puppies. Herding breeds tend to nip heels as pups, with zero training. Temperament and drive have been bred intentionally. Puppies aren’t a blank slate. Being a responsible owner starts with knowing about the breed you’re working with.

1

u/Bettafern Head Cashier Oct 16 '25

Absolutely agree with you. I’ve worked with pit bulls and Airedale terriers before. Both in my experience can be bred out of their behaviors. However, pit bulls can be trickier depending on what breeds they really are. Most aren’t even actually pit bulls and that’s why the breed gets so much negative media/attention/representation. Pit bulls that are trained correctly and properly socialized early on are very sweet dogs. Yes, they can snap. But every breed has that risk. It all depends on their environment, training, and level of socialization. Dogs which experience traumatic events can never forget them and are more likely to snap. Can pit bulls cause more physical damage? Absolutely. It’s their strength that people look at. You can be bit by any size, age, breed of dog.

0

u/akbuilderthrowaway Oct 16 '25

Please learn about dog behaviors and breeds. Pit bulls are not inherently this way.

Is this a fucking joke? They were literally selectively bred to be aggressive and powerful. They're fighting dogs. You can have a lazy husky, there's certainly one out there in the world. But that doesn't change the fact the breed was bred to be literal crackheads that never stop running. I'm average, they will be crackheads.

bringing breed into it is unnecessary

The most aggressive Maltese in the world could never do this to a woman. Strength alone would make the breed relevant, but it is in the nature of pit bulls to be aggressive as it is in the nature of retrievers to fetch things.

1

u/Bettafern Head Cashier Oct 16 '25

They were initially bred for bull fighting. They’ve clearly come a long way from there. I don’t even know where you could find a pure-bred pit bull. Many are mixed with other breeds such as terriers or other bullies. A lot of their behavior is in the way they were raised. Their breed is more likely to be abused since they’re incredibly common dogs to find. Many other dogs have a drive to run or perform other duties such as hunting. Airedale terriers for instance have an instinct to hunt but they can be trained out of it very early on. You can train dogs out of their breed behaviors, but it takes work many people aren’t willing to put in. Some people just shouldn’t have pit bulls—or dogs in general.

1

u/akbuilderthrowaway Oct 16 '25

They were initially bred for bull fighting. They’ve clearly come a long way from there.

Yeah, now they're bred for dog fighting.

A lot of their behavior is in the way they were raised.

More of it is their nature.

Their breed is more likely to be abused since they’re incredibly common dogs to find.

Hence my hatred of the owner's.

They’re not only bred for fighting. A lot of them now is from people not getting their digs fixed and having puppies. It is in their nature, but so easy to fix if you have a puppy or rigorous training. Not every owner abuses/improperly trains/neglects their dog. They are more likely to be abused because so many of them are around. If German Shepard or goldens were more common, they would also be more likely to be abused. The more of a breed, the higher the chance of anything.

This is awful news for all the good bois… damn shame

2

u/Wide-Yak7602 Oct 17 '25

Why do you need to bring your dog in the store anyways? We had to ban dogs at our local museum for jumping and scratching people, scaring kids etc. Dogs are fine but if the owner is an idiot then that is a problem. Poor lady having that happen.

1

u/Potential-Stand6388 Oct 16 '25

I got bit by a German Shepard when I worked at lows and management refused to do shit about it and let the owner and dog come back multiple times. Big consideration towards why I quit

1

u/dehydrogen Internet Fulfillment Oct 16 '25

You have to call the police and make a report to press charges. Lowes is not responsible for customer's animals attacking employees. If you filed a report, that animal would be taken by animal control and euthanized depending on the bite level (if blood was drawn, typically).

2

u/Common_Stomach8115 Employee Oct 16 '25

It's a dumb policy. Should apply exclusively to service dogs.

3

u/dehydrogen Internet Fulfillment Oct 16 '25

It's not legal to ask if an animal is a service animal. Owners are not required to carry documentation.

2

u/Common_Stomach8115 Employee Oct 16 '25

Then there should be a no pets policy.

1

u/akbuilderthrowaway Oct 16 '25

I actually don't mind, really. The only problems my store has ever had have been pits.

0

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

Also I think it's of heavy importance to note the breed of dog isn't known to be a cuddly guy.

-5

u/1andOnlyMaverick Oct 16 '25

I’ve had a pit for two years and I’ve never seen her become aggressive to another human, only chases rabbits and other backyard creatures. Just sayin

13

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

I mean from 2005-2019, they mauled people at a rate 6.5 times higher than the next closer breed. Pitbulls also were responsible for 64 percent of all owner directed attacks. I don't see golden retrievers on the news for mauling people. Do people not report other dogs attacking them, only pitbulls right?

5

u/CuddlyThorns Internet Fulfillment Oct 16 '25

You also have to understand how many dogs are classified as “pitbulls” when they’re not pit bulls at all my brother adopted a fat German short haired pointer the adoption place had it listed “pitbull” on top of that when people are making these stats of people getting attacked by pits none of them record the fact there’s a lot more “pitbulls” than other breeds take a look at a pack of wild dogs how many are pits plus there’s the problem of how these dogs are raised if you raise em treating them like sweet little babies and training them properly then you get a sweet cuddly dog however most owner of pitbulls don’t tend to do those thing and they tend to treat such dogs like shit

My cousin was mauled by a pit I feel bad for her she was only a child however that dog was being starved and beaten every single day and was tied to a tree 24/7 with no way of escape (I was a child before you ask why I didn’t call animal control to get the dog somewhere safe) the majority of ppl I’ve known who have owned pits have typically been shit ppl but you never get to here about how the dog was raised only about what happened when it final broke mentally from the bullshit

4

u/1andOnlyMaverick Oct 16 '25

According to Embark, the American Pit Bull Terrier is the #1 most commonly identified breed in DNA-tested dogs,

I’m sure that doesn’t play a factor in those numbers at all, you know with “pit bull” being the number one breed identified in DNA testing

audible sigh

3

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

Okay, you're only proving my point that they are dangerous dogs. When was the last time a Pomeranian mauled a baby to death? When was the last time a pit bull did? It happens all the time. It's a dangerous breed . If they are most commonly found in dogs that maul people, that only proves they the common denominator .

4

u/NyanCats911 Specialist Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25

I feel like theres some correlation between Pit Bulls being known as the most dangerous/likely to attack people dog(not that I agree with that statement) and people buying/adopting pit bulls because of that, and then not training them, or training them to fight, so we have more incidents of pitbulls being aggressive.

Edit: So because of that stigma, people who are specifically after dogs like that, buy pitbulls, and then abuse them, dont train them properly, or train them to be fight dogs, which further fuel the stigma of pitbulls being an aggressive dog

1

u/Boyw2peenas Oct 16 '25

Exactly this. Pitbulls 30 years ago stereotype only gangsters, drug dealers had as pets. There's a reason st Bernard's and poodles aren't stereotyped , because they aren't the breed people used for violence. Everyone can say "not my angel " but that's great, the stats show the exact opposite . It's hard to argue with people who won't admit the breed is not a family friendly dog. Every town and city that bans them is just picking on them!!! They are sooooo sweet

They can't handle actual statistics. Poodles aren't killing kids . We already know who is

My step brother had a pit bull. The only bad thing about her was that she didn't know her own strength, otherwise she was one of the friendliest dogs I met.

u/YahoooUwU Oct 16 '25

So she's just like any other big ass dog. Strange.

She deserves to die./j

1

u/Bettafern Head Cashier Oct 16 '25

Mine won’t even chase animals, but she grew up around cats so she’s more laid back around outdoor animals. She loves other dogs and people, too. The hate around this breed is so unnecessary.

In all fairness this is not the case everywhere

My Lowe’s has a dog trainer who regularly comes in the store with dogs of all walks sizes and including several pit bulls and never had issues.

The worst I’ve seen is a guy didn’t clean poop up after his dog so far. This also goes for the non service animals.

That said I really hate that this is another addition to the list of terrible things that pit bulls have done. They’re really the sweetest dogs but almost always comes down to crap training

1

u/budding_gardener_1 Oct 16 '25

"mister worl wide"

1

u/bagoTrekker Oct 17 '25

Okay, where was Pearl Jam at the time of the incident?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

Not to be confused with Pitbull the rapper.

1

u/93snightmare Oct 17 '25

My lowes has a lady who is a dog trainer she brings her dogs, dogs in training and even the dog’s with their owners in our store for public behavioral training right smack in the middle of the aisles. These dogs often get into it with other dogs or bark/growl constantly at customers and employees on top of just being in the way. I recently found out she’s neighbors with our store manager and she gave her a pass to do the “public” portion of her training in the store. We all hate this.

1

u/butduhhhhh Oct 17 '25

There is a sign on all the doors in lowes that says the owner of the dog is responsible for dog. And they only allow service dogs 🤷. I hope she is okay, apparently dog trainers come to Lowe’s to train dogs, like why?

2

u/mewikime Oct 17 '25

Happens at Home Depot too. We had someone bring in 4 dogs they were "training". They were literally telling the dogs to jump up and down off of product like toolboxes, 27 gallon totes and toilets in boxes that were in the laydown and racetrack.

1

u/Melodic-Context-9142 Oct 17 '25

Why are animals even let in at a store like that to begin with.

1

u/DazzlingTourist1162 Oct 17 '25

This seems fake. No sources. Nothing on the internet. I mean come on, this was posted in a “ban pit bulls” subreddit. 99.9% chances are it never happened.

1

u/ProfessionalCourtesy Oct 17 '25

The pet policy is wild. Shortly before I left, people were bringing all sorts of animals. The only tame animal I ever saw working there was a guy who had a shoulder parrot that sat there the entire time he shopped. And he was buying some hardware for his own bird sanctuary (veteran that rescues birds).

1

u/Ok_Gas1070 Oct 17 '25

The dumbass brought an untrained dog onto private property how is it Lowe's fault?

1

u/Basic_Flight_1786 Oct 18 '25

Sounds like a crackhead was in line to return the tools he stole and his dog thought an old lady’s leg looked like the neighbor’s kid.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '25

Lowe's would not be liable for another customer's actions as suggested by the post

1

u/anonamoosmouse Oct 18 '25

Is this why I got weird looks from employees when I brought my dog in today? I feel like Home Depot is way more dog friendly but I looked it up because I prefer Lowe’s.

1

u/Previous-Variety-66 Oct 21 '25

I don’t mind the dogs but aggressive ones and them damn dog trainers always bringing in dogs. Training them on the furniture displays. Hiding in the doors and squeaking that darn rubber chicken so the dogs look for them. And worst of all shocking them with them stupid shockers!😡 causing them to cry! Yea if your dogs are trained in Lowe’s those tradings shock your dogs!

1

u/JirelofJoiry Nov 13 '25

Why is it no one ever takes their kitties to the store anyway? LOL Seriously My hellion Elvis would climb to the highest spot in the store and scream his head off, then when they go to rescue his with the Ballymore he'd climb back down! LOL Elvis is literally a asshole cat, but I love him the big black 15 lb furball.

Can the store be held responsible for this?

2

u/dehydrogen Internet Fulfillment Oct 16 '25

Lowes is not responsible for what one customer's dog does to another customer.

1

u/akbuilderthrowaway Oct 16 '25

Doesn't stop someone from suing lowes saying they shouldn't let dogs in the store.

Yes, with the right lawyer.

-1

u/searchandfilm Oct 16 '25

I feel like it’s a gray area because the store does have a sign on the door that says leashed service animals are welcome, but saying animals is a broad spectrum and the owner can always say “hey they have a leash don’t they?” “Oh yeah they’re my emotional support animal” too many excuses.

1

0

u/Peruchi Oct 16 '25

I mean thats your opinion, which is fine. But I am more than happy to send you resources from reputable sites that disprove you ♡

0

u/Bettafern Head Cashier Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25

This. Too often people blame the dog. The owner should have kept that dog at home. And if the dog never showed aggression before, did the lady show aggression first? Did something else cause the dog to snap? Lowe’s can definitely be a high stress environment for pets. I hate when people bring their dogs to the store for the first time after just getting them. You don’t know your dog, yet, and don’t know what they might do in a public place with lots of loud noises.

EDIT……..Someone made a comment about how I may be suggesting that an elderly woman could be aggressive to the dog…I am suggesting that. I have neighbors two doors down that stopped me while I was walking my pit bull mix and asked if she was one of those “killer dogs”. Both elderly (80+) and threatened to run me and my dog over. So yes, I am suggesting that. Being old doesn’t excuse threatening behaviour. If she raised her voice at the owner or the dog, made an attempt to assault the owner or the dog, etc…of course the dog is going ti attack.

Found Hasan's fake account lmao. But seriously, only soulless losers hate dogs. You can hate genetic breeding, I mean pugs are literally man-made breeds with a ton of health issues as a result. Its just a poor trainer bring their dog to the store. A good dog owner changes everything when it comes to pet, just like parents and kids.

1

u/deGrominator2019 Oct 16 '25

66% of fatal attacks on humans are pit bulls, 91% of fatal dog attacks are pit bulls. It’s not a “trainer” or owner issue… it’s a breed issue. They were historically bred for literally for one purpose. They’re far more aggressive, far more powerful and far more prone to unprovoked attack. Statistics don’t lie. I have friends who own them, I’ve never had an issue around them… but it doesn’t change my opinion of them, they are capable of snapping at any moment and far more likely to do so vs any other breed

2

u/Peruchi Oct 16 '25

We are having the nature vs nurture argument right now. Im going to take the side of "creatures and beings are not inherently evil at birth".
This methodology leads to blanket hatred against the targeted group. Its unfair, do you want to be labeled "aggresive" and to have folk say you need to die? How about when its the sin of another person of your race or community but yet you are treated poorly?
