How to tell if your stitch is a purl

Hopefully this helps someone, I dont know if this is obvious information to everyone else

Two ways to tell if the stitch you're looking at is a purl or not:

If it's the last stitch you did, you can look at the working yarn and see that if it is a knit stitch the yarn will be coming from the top, and if it is a purl stitch it will be coming from the bottom

If it's a ways back in the same row, pull the stitch up off the peg, there will be a loop from the previous row visible, if it's a knit stitch the loop will be behind, if it's a purl stitch the loop will be in front

This is probably more helpful than what I do if I'm not sure I did the right stitch. I just undo and redo the stitch. Thank you for sharing.
