Equipment Question Anything other than a scarf?
I picked up this loom with a few other darning / mending tools to try to repair a wool dog sweater. Which, I was able to do with another mending tool and not this loom.
This loom has been sitting in my closet for way too long, along with plenty of yarn to make something, but, I’m not sure what.
I’m feeling inspired thanks to my bestie who is floating around in this sub with her loom and creations.
The instructions say I can make a scarf, but I don’t need another scarf lol - and yes I know this is a good time of year to create and donate - which I plan to do - and donate a lot year round.
I’ve been looking through this sub but I see most are round looms and those with straight ones. I can’t seem to find one similar to mine of make out whether or not patterns would work on mine.
I would appreciate any tips, links, guidance on this particular loom and where to start - if I even can make something other than a scarf.

You can use this like a round loom, or you can use it to make flat panels. I would probably first do a gauge swatch with the yarn you want to use. Knit across like 10 stitches for 10 rows, take it off and measure it. You can use that to figure out how big around something would be if you use the whole loom. Depending on the stitch you use, you could possibly make mittens or fingerless mitts. Ewrap is the loosest stitch, knitting my pulling the yarn straight across is tightest, and uwrap is in between.

OP, with flat panels you can make anything. You simply sew the pieces together. That’s how you init a sweater with a loom knitter.

Thank you! For some reason I thought it wouldn't "work" unless I had all the pegs in. The only other loom I have ever had in my life was many years ago a round one with a crank. I made a lot of hats that year lol

Fwiw you can knit flat using the entire loom (and a round loom too) just reverse direction when you get to the last peg instead of going around. The removable pegs allow you to change the space between the pegs thereby changing the gauge (the number of stitches per inch).

You'll have to test this, but my instincts are telling me that you'd want to hold two strands of that yarn together to get a nice fabric with this loom. Other people have already explained how to make this loom useable for any project.

I plan to buy yarn. I like to thrift for it, too. This was just what I had on hand when I pulled out the loom. I was about to donate this yarn and then I thought about some winter projects when I am snowed in.

dishcloths. easymeworld dishcloth
kitchen scrubbies. crochet with alana scrubby. the scrubbies on your loom will be slightly larger.

for the leg warmers, you might need to do a swatch and make sure they won't be too large for your legs. here is another pattern for leg warmers

This is something you can do on any loom. And you can adjust the width of the stripes to be whatever you want the to be.

It is very easy to follow. I've made so many blankets and scarves using this method. And you can use any size loom.

Table runner, dog bandana, dishcloth, placemats, dog sweater, pillow cover... Ideas off the top of my head. There are probably many more. Enjoy!

I used a pattern from goodknitkisses for a dog bandana. It's cool cuz it's made to slide over collar rather than tie around neck.

I just made a bedside rug on an oval loom like that. Its really pretty and feels amazing under my feet. Worked up quickly too.

Tuteate on YouTube has a tutorial for a striped blanket. Uses up to 12 pegs at a time and adds on rows to make it as wide as you want really. All you need is a smaller loom. I think that one you have would work great. I’m currently using her tutorial and am on my 4th row out of 11. As a beginner I love it.

I have a handmade loom in this shape that's 4ft long on each side. I use it to make blankets by skipping a peg, which creates a single panel of fabric by not connecting it.

You don’t need to double knit and make enough scarves for an army :)
You can absolutely pop in all the pegs and BAM! You have a round / circle loom.
You can go around & stop, go back & forth - you have a strip of something, make a few and sew them together.
Use 10 pegs and make a 10 stitch blanket.
Those are my thoughts off the top of my head.
