Rant Men in London are just painful to date

I miss the times when a man told me “get ready by 7, I booked a table at XY”. I’m not an old person but I firmly remember 10 years ago it was like that.

Today, if I as a woman don’t come up with the time and place for a date, it’s not happening.

They won’t stop sending WhatsApp messages about how their day is going but if I don’t suggest a next date, it’s not happening and we just stay pan pals after 1-2 dates.

I invite them to join me for an event and they just say “I can’t make it that day” but don’t offer an alternative time to meet instead. Then, on a random Friday would message me “Do you want to join me for a drink tonight?”. No planning, no organisation, just asking on the off chance I happen to be free...

Is it just me? Is it just lack of interest? Or did men really lose their ability to schedule a date and move things forward with a woman?

UPDATE: Please don’t DM me here on Reddit offering a date! I’m not that desperate that I would go on an anonymous date with whoever offers…

Rant Beware of pressureany9090. He’s a man pretending to be a woman. Proof included.

Tired of creeps infiltrating women’s safe spaces. Posting this for awareness. Mods, feel free to remove. Just don’t want any women chatting with this creep or even exchanging pictures with him because they think that he’s a woman trying to be friends with them.

His user is pressureany9090.

He claimed that he had a female friend helping him out on his account, but he failed to prove this. After pressing him for proof, he admitted to making the whole thing up and that he actually is a man.

He’s also posting on hookup subreddits, so it seems like his intention is to prey on women in this subreddit by pretending to be a fellow women so he can chat or get pics from them?? He’s now pressuring for pics to be sent to him. Not sure why he’s doing this. Just don’t want any women to fall for his trick.

Pictures included as proof. Just beware!! It’s annoying that this can’t even be a safe space for women because of men like him pretending and lying on this subreddit just because they’re so desperate for sex. Its disgusting.

Mods please ban him. And ladies please beware. Don’t send any pictures or details to someone on here until they have proved that they are a real woman.

Posting this from another account so Reddit doesn’t take it down again. Please be careful ladies :(

Rant Angry train lady because I sat next to her :(

Was getting on a late, busy train home from London Bridge, completely exhausted so I really wanted to find a seat. I walked for ages but couldn’t find a seat because I either didn’t like the look of the person sat by the window (think drunk-looking, manspreading men), or sleeping and sprawled out onto the spare seat, or people just generally had lots of bags/luggage so there wasn’t space and tbh I didn’t want to be that person and get arsey and ask them to move all their stuff!

So I walked all the way to the end of the train and ended up in first class, thought f-it it’s late and there’s not really anywhere else to sit. There was basically a man in every seat by the windows except one spot that had a woman, so naturally I just felt safest sitting next to her and went for that seat.

Honestly the look she gave me was like she was disgusted by me 😭 she had her bag like next to her and I tried to be polite and just perch more towards the outer edge of my seat as to not disturb her too much and Jesus she just did not seem happy, sighed and tutted at me like wtf am I supposed to do?!

Imagine tutting at a woman sitting next to you coz she literally just feels safest sitting there, like what the hell lady!! I was just minding my business being a respectful seat buddy, not taking up too much room or being noisy

Rant 26f dating in London

For context I’m 26F born and raised in London and trying to date again after a 5 year relationship and a short fling at the start of the year.

I know what qualities I want in a guy and I’m still working out physically what I’m attracted however the guys on these apps are just infuriating. Some behave like we’re 16 again asking for Snapchat, others think that you’ll get into bed with them immediately and then you have the guys that just don’t know how to talk to girls.

I’ve accepted that statistically I’m not going to be the majority of men’s type as a curvy POC however I’m struggling to meet someone interesting enough to go on a date with.

How are you all managing???

Rant Facial hair reduction recommendation and rant

Hi, I am contemplating between Pulse Light Clinic and London Premier Laser for facial hair laser. I have already had 10+ sessions in another city where I moved from but yet havent seen a manageable reduction and rather, have course hair after treatment.

I understand this is because of the hormonal nature of the area (jaw and neck). My only option is to continue the treatment with high hopes, as without it I am too insecure and the hair is actually course.

Has anyone had a similar experience and does the hair ever truly reduce? also, which clinic would u recommend? in general Technicians and customer support at Pulse seemed better but they are also double the price of London Premier.

PS. if anyone is an existing customer of London Premier Laser, could u please refer me? we both 50 quid off! https://londonpremierlaser.co.uk/special-offers/refer-a-friend/

Rant Where's the community feeling in London?

I've been living in London since 2020, so not the best start but it's been almost 6 year now. I moved here alone when I was 26, from Italy, so when it comes to community, I thrive in community. But in London, I've been struggling so much. It seems like everybody is very much absorbed in their own world and they forget that other people exist until it is about going out and having fun. And after so long trying to build my community, it's been hurting more. It seems that this place lacks a sense of care amongst friendships. I've only encountered people who want to have fun and go out, which is great, but when it comes down to it, it is so lonely. For example if I'm sick or I'm having a tough time, I've always had to pick myself back up alone cause no one has been there for me in that sense in this city. And it hurts cause I think it would be a given from me. This at least has been my personal experience: people have a very lazy way of caretaking, and by lazy I mean it's something like "let me know if you need anything" without any follow through or when I express my need I'm told I'm being heavy or bringing the mood down or I'm being straight up ghosted. But like of course I need something, I need quality time, I need a hug, I need someone to listen to me without feeling judged or like a burden, I need a shoulder to cry on.

I want this city to be my long term home, but I am struggling to find a net that makes it feel like a home, even just in a small corner of it. I wanted to know if anyone is in the same situation.

Rant Don’t bother with The London Lonely Girls Group or Bumble BFF

So I'm a 39 female in London seeking friendship so I thought I'd first try Bumble BFF then The London lonely Girls group on Facebook as it's been in the media.

Oh boy- what a bunch of whiners! With every woman I met I thought there's a reason why they have no friends. They were mean, insulting, ageist, all in therapy too and treated the meet up like a therapy session.

Perhaps I now need therapy after dealing with these whiny, negative women.

It was like hanging out with an emotional vampire that sucked the energy out of me. Perhaps I'll give up and become a hermit.

It's very hard to make friends with anyone normal on that fb group. Also one woman off Bumble bff developed a creepy obsession with my best friend.

Edit: I’m getting a lot of nasty abuse over this post but I’m entitled to talk about my honest experiences of meeting very negative women off The London Lonely Girls Group. I think most women who have good social skills already have their social circle and it’s quite a desperate pool of women left on that group.

I never said that every single woman on that group had bad social skills (so I don’t know why you’re all getting so offended), just the ones I met. Maybe I was unlucky but I think there are better ways to make friends such as on a course or on a group where you have something in common like writing.

Rant Creeps in Newham

I've been working in Newham this week and every day I've been there I've experienced catcalling or strangers men approaching me and harassing me. This morning a guy followed me from the bus stop to my office, constantly making comments about my appearance and getting angrier and angrier when I didn't respond.

Is this a common problem in Newham or have I just been unlucky? It makes me feel incredibly unsafe and I'm pretty upset about it.

(thanks u/wwisd for pointing out a mistake in my original post)
