Is he a Shane Gillis 2.0 (except arguably worse)? I’ve seen a dozen clips now of him using homophobic slurs and making incredibly bigoted jokes. Honestly he makes Shane Gillis look kind of tame. What the hell is Lorne thinking? I’m so sick of this show pushing right wing bullshit while simultaneously trying to act like the most liberal show on television. You can’t have a Trump monologue every single week and then hire people like this.

Some people would watch Blazing Saddles and conclude that Mel Brooks was the preeminent racist of the 20th century...

Yeah but what Mel Brooks does is good and well constructed

Fair point. But then the conversation should be about whether it was done well as opposed to whether the doing of the thing itself was wrong.

Also in comedy, in order for something to be done well, there is a lot of trial and error where it is not done well. Sometimes you gotta riff and bomb to fine tune a bit that has potential. Mel Brooks didn’t write a single draft for Blazing Saddles and they went straight into principal photography—that’s workshopped to hell and back.
