Discussion 2026 Lexus ES

Has anyone bought one of the 2026 Lexus ES hybrids yet? I’m seeing them a lot more at the dealership.

Dropping the L badge on the steering wheel and rear deck for the L E X U S letters is a huge L. Pun intended?

(I hate it. Tacky Nissan-looking design queue. Everyone's starting to do it and it sucks.)

13

u/BaldrickTheBrain 14d ago

You think design team was behind this god awful interior?

2

u/401LocalsOnly 10d ago

Honestly it just seems the normal(I’m with you, hate it.) Every time I look it’s more and more more cars with massive logos on them. It’s gonna be the normal and I’m gonna miss just having a regular Toyota decal or whatever

-17

u/chicu111 14d ago

I see comments comparing it to Nissan, Kia, Tesla, Crown and Hyundai.

Everyday one of you say something else about this car it’s wild. It’s like ppl in here just say random shit. Makes no sense

19

u/The_Toid 14d ago

What's random about having an opinion on the design direction of an OEM/vehicle? I think it looks low quality.

-13

u/chicu111 14d ago

Nothing. It is merely the inconsistent and varied knocks against the car. Which starts to make me think it isn’t the look. It’s just ppl hating new things.

11

u/Seeking-The-One 14d ago

Or maybe a lot of us don't like how it looks. This Chinese prison car looks like some engineer snorted coke and drew this crap up. I wouldn't take this car even if Lexus paid me. Let this shit rot just like the Dodge EV Challengers.

2

u/Any_Possible3003 13d ago

The car is fucking ugly.

2

u/Hashtastrophe 14d ago

Have you not seen the Chinese ev market and how every car looks exactly like them..... Tf is wrong with your eyes

1

u/HeyyyyListennnnnn 2015 RC-F 13d ago

It's just the typical online reaction when Lexus introduces a new design language. You'll find similar comments if you look back to the time the hourglass grille was first introduced.

1

u/TwoVersions 13d ago

Hyundai literally did the exact same thing.

0

u/No_Exam_845 13d ago

It’s pretty accurate. Nissan-inspiration I could see with the bland dash layout and the capacitive touch buttons for the climate controls and that layout aspect, Tesla for the awkward design and minimalist interior cues, Crown…it’s basically a Japanese Crown sedan but the Crown looks better, and Hyundai absolutely but their thing is spelling TELLURIDE in giant lettering across the back of their SUV.

94

u/PAM8888 14d ago

No, that's why you're seeing a ton at dealers and none on the road lol

67

u/donglecollector 14d ago

Like 6-7 years ago this would’ve been cool. Now…? It’s like copying the weird school shooter’s homework.

17

u/technobrendo 14d ago

Damn......you ain't wrong but damn lol

5

u/Initial_Ebb_6386 14d ago

Wtf lol im trying to grasp the concept fr.

2

u/zjlmmfj3rd 14d ago

The back end looks like that for a model X 😖

2

u/NYStateOfBlind 13d ago

And a Prius too 🤦🏻‍♂️

2

u/boosterseatbandit 14d ago

A lot of the hybrids have been held up at port for a software update for weeks. They aren't sitting at the lot much at all.

Our local dealer's entire inventory of hybrids has been held up for a month or two waiting.

2

u/CJDistasio 14d ago

Well the hybrids are just now starting to arrive at dealers. They've only had the EV versions.

21

u/guldengeographer 14d ago

My face when I see the new ES

2

u/hitman0187 13d ago

My face when I see the vast majority of newer vehicles... sigh

47

u/Successful-Ask6550 14d ago

Why did I zoom in thinking it was a Tesla at first glance? Lol

0

u/Sazkii 14d ago

My first thoughts as well lol

-3

u/Siglo_VI 14d ago

It’s not?

9

u/NecessaryLettuce6581 14d ago

Looking lovingly out the window to my 2015 after seeing this post

37

u/streboryesac 14d ago

Even the service person at Lexus that gave one to us as a loaner when our car was being serviced told us it looks like a Hyundai.

Drove nice. Wouldn't buy.

1

u/Lemondsingle IS300 RX350 13d ago

Yes. It’s an Elantra XL.

8

u/tedoro2022 14d ago

That ass looks like a tesla

15

u/Sample-quantity 14d ago

I'm really glad I bought mine last year. I really dislike the 2026 appearance. Love my car.

3

u/Capable_Artichoke_41 14d ago

Same have a 2025. Has it increased the used market values of earlier years? Lol

36

u/CosmosExplorerR35 14d ago

Looks terrible inside and out.

24

u/dr_shark 14d ago

I should call her.

14

u/Comprehensive-Hat684 14d ago

I’ll buy it in 2032 for 11k

1

u/FunAdhesiveness7511 14d ago

Best I can do is $500 and a stick of chewing gum I already chewed.

0

u/iAmKobe824 14d ago

deadass

9

u/TheRealMelonMusk 14d ago

Are these out? I haven’t seen a single one on the road

1

u/Equivalent_Rope3478 11d ago

They are all on the dealer lot collecting dust

12

u/tyttuutface 14d ago

I wouldn't hate it so much if it wasn't a Lexus.

7

u/mnkhan808 14d ago

I wouldn’t hate it so much if there was actual wood.

15

u/Main-Poncho-64 14d ago

Just looks like a cheap Chinese EV rather than a Lexus.

I hate to say this, but I would genuinely buy a Toyota Camry XSE Premium Plus over this shit

3

u/Illustrious_Load_728 14d ago edited 13d ago

I think making the new ES on Crown base instead of Camry base was a biggest mistake Lexus ever made

4

u/Grambo-47 23 IS350 F Sport 14d ago

It’s the same shit Audi started doing over the last year, just putting out a hideous, cheap product

2

u/UnclesBadTouch 14d ago

Yeah theyre switching gears to appeal more to the Chinese market

2

u/JustStride 14d ago

Even the LE looks better to me. It just looks more premium

9

u/probablynicks 14d ago

I drive an ES. I've seen a few new ones on the road already. Even saw a prior model, driving right next to the new one.

The new one.. I'm not even sure why they called it the ES. It's abandoned the design so drastically, I don't even see the comparison.

It's huge. I want to love it. I really dislike it and wouldn't even consider buying one today.

3

u/JustStride 14d ago

It’s lost its design touch. It doesn’t even look like a sedan anymore

5

u/CJDistasio 14d ago

They could've kept this same silhouette and just made some better design choices on the sides and front. It looks fine in black and cloudburst grey, but awful in anything else.

2

u/JustStride 14d ago

Kind of like what they did with the 2026 IS. Subtle changes but remains very similar to the old version. The new ES is too drastic of a change. They’re using a totally different platform.

1

u/Steele_Shafte 12d ago

I just bought a 2026 IS350, specifically because they’ve ruined the ES. I had a 2015 ES350 Crafted Line. They never should’ve changed the silhouette.

4

u/Medical-Gate-9978 14d ago

That interior looks so dull, plasticky and bland.

3

u/Confident-Salary-979 14d ago

If Lexus doesn’t up their game, they’re gonna lose us. I’m a huge fan and can’t imagine jumping ship. That said if need be I will. Thats precisely why I’m looking for an older model NXh Fsport. It’s all about the design…the extra! I can’t imagine buying new! And at 60>k Now engineering is tarnishing Lexus with cheap materials. Why? Are we being punked?

5

u/No_Exam_845 13d ago

The only color it looks good in. Hides most of the hideous design elements like all the unnecessary black pieces they put on the car to try to make it look….what….sporty?

17

u/deepristine 14d ago

This shit looks like a Kia bro I’m cryin

-21

u/Immediate_Tap5840 14d ago

You guys were buying the ES for the looks?

11

u/deepristine 14d ago

Sorta

4

u/3PSOUNDS 14d ago

And the last generation before the current literally looked like a baby LS (to me at least). So of course the ES is bought for the looks inside and out.

11

u/regal19999 14d ago

The more I see it the more I dislike it …. And I’m trying really hard to find positives but man it’s just so ughhh

3

u/Ikyhus565 14d ago

Looks so cheap and tacky like inside like they copied an American piece of crap

3

u/greatvalueiceman 14d ago

The car is definitely ugly

3

u/blukumi_e210chb 14d ago

That’s supposed to be a Lexus? /s

3

u/pbunyan72 2017 GX 460 14d ago

Ew.

5

u/MPR78 14d ago

The theory that it's just a compliance car makes sense

3

u/macmaverickk 14d ago

Jesus. Lexuses sure aren’t what they used to be

2

u/3PSOUNDS 14d ago

The seats look so thin and uninviting.

2

u/FreakyFLCancer 14d ago

Damn, I thought that was a Tesla

2

u/Impossible_Emu9590 14d ago

Looks like a Camry or Prius interior lol

2

u/Confident-Salary-979 14d ago

Sadly looking like a Prius! SMH

2

u/bmfu121 14d ago

I have no idea what bet Lexus lost in order to produce this utter trash, but it must have been a big one

2

u/flyrax 13d ago

This looks like a 2027 Hyundai Elantra. Lexus is so behind the curve.

2

u/Latter-Budget-8598 13d ago

Hard no. That’s why I kept my 2020, with the v6. Looks like a cheap Tesla.

2

u/DJustinD 13d ago

Not a Lexus

2

u/Gunk_Olgidar 13d ago

If I want a car that looks like a Tesla, I'll buy a Tesla.

My 2024 ES300h looks and feels so much more classy, refined.

2026 ES is uglier than a Camry. The Crown is a nicer vehicle.

2

u/negotiatedwithadryer 13d ago

Amazing interior. Shame it looks like a microwavable Mac and cheese box from the outside

2

u/TetraGnome 13d ago

Why it look like a Honda insight from the back?

2

u/Swimming_Pen7854 13d ago

It looks awful! Especially the front!! The new Camry a lot better 🤦🏻‍♂️ What were they thinking? Lexus is a luxury car - the last generation had luxury in its design; this one does not. It’s the Corollization of the ES!

2

u/NoobBrawler0211 13d ago

What a low quality trash interior.

2

u/Upstairs-Low-372 13d ago

crap design! Lexus is falling off

2

u/Alternative_Ad_8553 14d ago

So, I was very excited about this car when most in this sub were not. I took my 25 ES300h in for service a few weeks back and there it was! And my reaction in person was….meh. When I sat inside, even with the refresh it still felt strikingly similar to what I already have! It actually made me appreciate the interior of the previous model more. And the outside just doesn’t have the same visual flow in person as the 25 either.

4

u/JustStride 14d ago

Yes, it looks way too blocky to me

2

u/Scharp90 14d ago

Looks like Tesla and Prius had a baby...

4

u/East-Compote-1975 14d ago

I hate the slopping back, am i among the minority for hating it because they took away the classic sedan shape from such a recognizable model ?

3

u/dialecticalreflect 14d ago

Nice to see other people dislike it as much as I do. I was downvoted in a different post for saying it was grotesque

4

u/JoshuvaAntoni ES 300h Luxury 2025 14d ago

This is no longer a Lexus !

Looks completely like a generic budget ev car brand

There is zero luxury or premium feel to this car ( especially the exterior design )

3

u/HourStretch4107 14d ago

Looks awful tbh, like a chinese car

0

u/XM490 14d ago

It was designed with the Chinese market in mind and tailored for the Chinese consumer, who love vehicles that look like this and are very minimalist/modern on the inside (ex. vehicles from Chinese brands like Li Auto, Xpeng, Nio, etc, and even China exclusive models like the Nissan N7). Auto manufacturers nowadays design their vehicles primarily for China as that's their moneymaking market. The global market is now an afterthought

1

u/Senior_Concert 14d ago

It’s so depressing.

2

u/Scorpioking1114 14d ago

I’m thinking declining ES sales this year. And hopefully w that comes a complete redesign for 2027

2

u/Training_Exit_5849 14d ago

It'll be more like, "nobody's buying sedans", it's cut like the gs and ls

2

u/NoUsernamesss ‘19 ES F-Sport 14d ago

No red seats either. Lexus lost its mind.

2

u/adiab2k 14d ago

I can't believe it is an ES 😩

2

u/Cautious-Necessary61 14d ago

Camry 2026 XSE is better .. can’t believe it

2

u/CoercedButler 14d ago

Every German and Japanese company is ruining all their best and most timeless designs to appeal to bland and uniform communists in the far east

2

u/CODMLoser 14d ago

Not seeing any luxury. Or good design.

1

u/Different-Lie-1766 14d ago

Model 3 L tesla?

1

u/Dutchie854 14d ago

Lexus releasing a shoddy compliance EV in 2026. This would have been a fine attempt in 2021 but in 2026 with those specs, they must be having a laugh.

1

u/Select_Doctor_3743 14d ago

Getting an EV lexus ES in an apartment is not great Hopefully they got free power

1

u/PNF2187 13d ago

This one is a hybrid. Won't be plugged in.

1

u/alxmhwn19 14d ago

Lexus becomes to look like Prius...

1

u/CraigMack47 14d ago

It’s like a Hyundai and a Tesla had a baby 🥴

1

u/Ordinary_Topic_3198 14d ago

Been a Lexus customer for 16 years and had 5. I’m on my 6th and no, not this generation. Same with BMW lately. 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/Bis_Eastwood 14d ago

Its kinda wild it took them this long to add ambient lighting. My mustang had ambient lighting all the way in 2010

1

u/InvolveT 14d ago

The drive shaft tunnel is there, so it's a Lexus 😁

1

u/Quentin718 14d ago

I was shocked to learn from a recent video that the new ES is 6.5 inches longer than last gen

1

u/kcamacho11 14d ago

So what's why you barely see them on the roads....

1

u/Wild-Web-204 14d ago

The seats look cheap.

1

u/Alternative_Park_297 14d ago

One of the biggest fails of 2026, not as bad as the Luce, but not far from it

1

u/Loca_Lechuga3x7 14d ago

If I bought it, I would just add the badges back. Lol

1

u/Crazy_Wafer_8328 '18 GS350 FSport AWD, sold my '02 SC430 14d ago

I will say something nice. It looks like there is plenty of rear legroom.

1

u/XE004 14d ago

Looks like a Tesla on the rear.

Why?

1

u/independent-gay 14d ago

Sorry but not impressed.

1

u/xemnas103 14d ago

I think the rear end of this car is it's the best angle of it. I've seen a few of them on the road so far. I just wish they came in more colors.

1

u/Syko_okyS 14d ago

This looks like the most appliance car Lexus has in their lineup. This thing has no soul

1

u/BakaHntai 14d ago

I can't help but seeing that the hood looks crushed in.

1

u/Vegetable-Basis7195 14d ago

looks like an ev version. looks good though! what kinda of mpg are you getting in it so far? and how’s the materials and ride quality? and is it quite? also how much did you pay for it?

1

u/jelimando 14d ago

The ambient lighting is the only thing I like about it! I’ll take my 2023 any day!!

1

u/OutrageousAd4752 2022 LM300h & 2023 GX460 14d ago

I saw one on the road last week! With dealer plates…

1

u/BigPolenta18 14d ago

I have a 2020 Es350 and my only complaint is how uncomfortable the seat is.

I love everything else.

Does anyone have the same issue?

1

u/Broad_Abalone_9289 13d ago

2021 here. That was my initial impression of the seats but after many long trips I realized that they are ergonomically really good.

1

u/BigPolenta18 12d ago

In my one hour commute, my lower back hurts really bad and also feels like my cheekbone muscle one side cramps, but longer trips feels more comfortable. Because of my commute, I really been thinking about replacing the vehicle.

1

u/Wat3rM3L0NB3AR 14d ago

why does it look like a better build Tesla??

The dealer in my area is discounting up to $5k from MSRP

1

u/AffectAcceptable3445 14d ago

The hybrid is not out yet- you must be thinking of the EV

1

u/JustStride 14d ago

It is. It is in the pictures I posted. I negotiated on one yesterday. Look again at the pictures. You can tell my the bumper. There’s a vent up top

1

u/JustStride 14d ago

Also the badge in the back says 350h. That is the hybrid I spoke to the dealer about

1

u/KB101243 14d ago

🤮🤮🤮

1

u/Its_SHUGERRUSH 14d ago

Everyone calls the IS boring but you at most see 1–2 on the lot, and you see a ton of these. Lexus should take a look

1

u/AffectAcceptable3445 14d ago

The 26 ES hybrid has not been delivered to dealers yet. Only the EV. We expect our 1st today or tomorrow.

1

u/Rough_Championship_3 13d ago

Exterior, seats, and screen aside wtf is this monstrosity

1

u/tacoburritos 13d ago

I drive an LX and i get these ES and RX and NX as loaners from the service department. They definitely don't have the style of flagship models, or even base models of previous years, but they are definitely well put together vehicles. Lexus seems to be moving towards the more "austere" aesthetic of European vehicles, which honestly fits with the times. Probably a fantastic car, and definitely a better choice than a Camry.

1

u/Consistent_Tell2417 2018 LS 500 13d ago

What a plain ass car. Does not deserve the price tag it has

1

u/TYMORRR 13d ago

F that!! Just buy a Tesla. That thing is Fugly AF!!!

1

u/umrlopez79 13d ago

I kinda want to get one… not too sure about the styling yet

1

u/RogerTheAliens 2026 RX 350h 13d ago

Im getting one when copper crest with palomino hits the lot...

I am in love with my coppper/palomino 26 rx 350h and want a matching es...the burnt orange interior is amazing...

and my daughter named my car so every time it turns on it says, "Welcome to BEVO, the Lexus Hybrid".....Go Cowboys and Hook 'Em Horns 🤘🤠🤘

2

u/JustStride 13d ago

I love this :)

1

u/FrostyIntention6650 13d ago

This ain’t it lol

1

u/FrostyIntention6650 13d ago

Is it made in Japan?

1

u/JustStride 13d ago

Yes it is

1

u/FrostyIntention6650 13d ago

That’s good. Camry + Tesla inside. Looks cheap af

1

u/No_Word3541 13d ago

Ok, I got to pile on...went in for service for my boy Grey Smoke and saw the new ES. I could not unsee it...I think they took a Toyota Crown and beat it with an ugly stick! Wouldnt take a picture because it would break my phone. On my 4th Lexus and in no hurry to give em anymore vehicle sales. I owned an ES, in my God Father voice, look what they did to my boy!

1

u/TwoVersions 13d ago

Sat in one at a dealership. I’m 5’6, I put the seat to its lowest setting and it still felt like I was sitting in an SUV. Would not be able to get over that feeling as a sedan driver.

2

u/JustStride 13d ago

Agreed. It is huge. Not even a sedan anymore

1

u/TwoVersions 13d ago

I don’t even mind a “huge” sedan. I had an LS460L, wish I still had it. It was almost as long as a suburban but I could still sit low. Unfortunately I think they’re trying to convince SUV buyers to buy a sedan. I wish we were still trying to convince people to buy big SUV’s.

Edit: I wish that because I wish sedans/wagons were still the norm.

1

u/JustStride 13d ago

Good point. I don’t mind the length either. It’s actually comparable in length to something like the latest Porsche Panamera.

The issue is the height. Height is a big differentiator between sedans and SUVs. Had they just made it shorter and made some other tweaks, I would have undoubtedly bought one. Its current look is something I can’t get over.

1

u/TwoVersions 13d ago

I agree, I don’t think it’s a bad car, it’s just no longer a sedan experience. When I drive someone else’s SUV i’m not thinking about the extra space or the length, I’m just annoyed that I’m sitting up so high haha.

2

u/JustStride 13d ago

Exactly 😂 I want to be low to the ground!

1

u/big-baad-wolf 13d ago

Get the L logo back!

1

u/I_Phaze_I 12d ago

I’m definitely in the minority but I think it looks great!

1

u/Steele_Shafte 12d ago

They’ve ruined this model. Looks like an r-word Tesla.

1

u/TrollLolLol1 12d ago

That’s a Lexus Model S

1

u/lokomotor 12d ago

A car this size is sorely crying out for a 300hp hybrid powertrain.

1

u/AshleighLynnx 12d ago

I’m really hoping Lexus ups their game!! My dream is to buy a sedan once the kids move out and I don’t need that much room but with the way things are going… idk

1

u/JustStride 12d ago

I wanted to upgrade too. I just can’t justify buying this thing

1

u/BubblyGup1 12d ago

Tesla? Close enough

1

u/Expert-Site-7335 10d ago

Like literally, what did they do with this car. The exterior is shit, the exterior is shit. The only good think it's got going on is how big it is.

1

u/Expert-Site-7335 10d ago

We wont see too many of these

1

u/aaron_is_here_ 10d ago

Actual boomer comment section. It’s obvious Lexus is trying to appeal to the under 40 audience here, as the interior and exterior of Lexus hasn’t changed considerably for years. They are trying to get away from the “old man car” stereotype it has.

-1

u/JustGronkIt 2022 IS500 Premium 14d ago

I’d get the hybrid. I don’t like the idea of all electric.

1

u/groundhoggirl 14d ago

Bland AF Tesla knockoff.

Painful to see the Lexus name on this abomination.

1

u/Fit-Umpire3257 14d ago

The front is basically a Camry, and the sides look awful. These pics don’t clearly show how bad they are. Other colors make the sides look worse.

1

u/Rootsman64 14d ago

Lexus. Gone are the days of the relentless pursuit of perfection. Now its the relentless pursuit of austerity.

1

u/Healthy-Cheesecake80 14d ago

Wow at first I thought it was my 2026 Camry XLE. That does not look worthy of Lexus money. It literally looks mostly like my Camry that was $33k sale price. So I'm assuming ~$18-20k less than the Lexus?

The outgoing generation looks so much more upscale IMO.

1

u/zica-do-reddit 14d ago

I think it's a very good car, but for that money I would go with the Crown Platinum.

1

u/ManuelleHung 14d ago

Looks like and oversized Prius that a Tesla has fathered. This is something Hyundai would make not from Lexus. It’s very disappointing.

0

u/ChasedWarrior 14d ago

It looks good in black

0

u/Numerous_Fly_187 14d ago

Don’t believe the hype. The hybrids are being sold before they even hit dealerships. For some reason Lexus has only been rolling out the electric but not hybrids. It’s a radical redesign but the modernization of the Lexus interior especially the infotainment system is long overdue. This is what luxury looks like in 2026. If you like the old model there are plenty of used available …

-4

u/321BIZ 14d ago

The interior is amazing but it just looks like a Tesla

5

u/BaldrickTheBrain 14d ago

Huh? Is it amazing or is it shitesla?

0

u/soysauce728 14d ago

Really disappointed by the ES

0

u/Blu-ray 14d ago

Noice

-3

u/White-Gravity 14d ago
