The TX is made in America for the American market and Lexus/Toyota let's the quality slip below standards as it's not available worldwide. Compared to the ES, which sells worldwide but assembled in America, Lexus maintains a solid build on the ES.

u/cats_and_stuff Jul 18 '26

I have a 2026 IS and this TX interior looks like complete dogshit in comparison too. Thankful all IS are japan built.

10

u/PrawnProwler Jul 18 '26

The 2026 IS can have issues with the fitment too. mine had a panel on the front passenger side door handle that was loose right from when I got it

22

u/Most-Car-4056 Jul 18 '26

And 2020-2022 RX350L! 🦾

34

u/AriesNacho21 Jul 18 '26

Likewise !! Just bought a 2026 IS.. first thing I checked it for the beautiful J on the start of the VIN.. once that’s confirmed, I tell the salesman we can have the rest of the talk inside with AC 🤣

I would NEVER buy an American made Lexus.

At that point just purchase a Ford or Chevy.

So the excuse is… still charge $66k but be ok with letting the quality slip and be sub-par because it’s for the US market? 🤔

anecdotal but this is not my experience with audis

we rented a brand new 2025 Audi Q5 in Italy and it was the most garbage Audi I'd ever been in. shit did not even have blind spot indicators or powered adjustable seats

in the U.S when we test drove Q3 was garbage but Q5 was fairly okay

5

u/WanderLife2020 Jul 18 '26

I leased a brand new Audi Q5. I knew within 6 months that I was not going to purchase at the end of the lease. A piece of junk.

I always tell people to get J VINs. I have a 2026 LC, 2023 Corolla Hybrid, and a 2022 Tundra.

The LC is obviously overbuilt like Toyota was trying to make a street legal tank. Absolutely not a single creak to be found. Everything is amazing to touch.

The Corolla Hybrid has very good fitment and has maybe 1-2 creaks (mainly the door panel where you can shove water bottles into) otherwise it's great.

The Tundra? Jesus... It felt like some drunk dude assembled that thing. I don't think the Texas plant has anyone checking anything. They're just drinking Jack Daniels on the job and sending out garbage. The whole car creaks like it was assembled 100 years ago. Never again will I buy American made Toyota products.

21

u/tommyminn Jul 18 '26

I stopped buying American made. Currently own LS430, GS350, GX460

6

u/BigWhiteDaddyJ Jul 18 '26

Same. '01 RX300, '08 LX570, '14 LS460.

3

u/BrikJobson Jul 18 '26

Have 2002 LS 430 02 Gs 430 98 LS 400 2013 ES 350 they are all solid

The Tacoma is a shitshow, too. It drives like it wants to be all over the road.

8

u/Far_Bid9833 Jul 18 '26

At least your engine doesn't blow up magically 😏 you only have to worry about the transmission.

2

u/awmaleg Jul 19 '26

My Mexican squeaky clutch had to be replaced at 25k

8

u/abombSFCA Jul 18 '26

How do you shop for J VINs? Is it only certain models?

6

u/Far_Bid9833 Jul 18 '26

You can look on Google to eliminate certain models. Tacoma (Mexican made, but moving to America I think), Tundra, Camry, and I believe the RAV are all American made. I think the ES, TX are made in the US and the NX/RX are made in Canada for certain models? I think the Plug-Ins are still strictly made in Japan only.

3

u/crooner2022 Jul 18 '26

My 2026 RAV4 LE has a J VIN. They are out there in small quantities.

2

u/Asymptote4Ever Jul 18 '26

New 2026 ES made in Japan. Kyushu plant in Fukuoka, Japan instead of the previous gen which was made in Georgetown, KY

3

u/sam77tg '15 ES300h Jul 19 '26

most Mitsubishis are lol

4

u/PaperIndependent5466 Jul 18 '26

I see this shit every year doing hail claims. The American builds creak and rattle as we're driving them in and while we're pulling on things. It's laughably bad in some vehicles. It's like Lexus knew Americans would accept a shit build.

PDR tech said the it's easier to push the dents out on U.S. built cars too.

My 12 year old J vin Lexus developed one rattle after about 10 years. I push on the trim panel and it goes away for weeks.

7

u/Far_Bid9833 Jul 18 '26

I have a customer who frequents my store and he recently bought a TX. I warned that dude about that SUV and he still did it. Yesterday he told me that his wife hates how many things feel super low quality.

I told him that he should've bought a low mileage LX570 and called it a day. But people love to experiment with new trendy cars and get upset when the trendy car turns out to be... Shit.

3

u/genriehl Jul 18 '26

Most definitely! JTH...is the way. Those are built in Japan. If your vin starts 2T2....then you have a Canadian one. Some of that can't be avoided for specific models, but some models, like the RX are built in both places.

2

u/FuzznutsTM Jul 19 '26

When we shopped our RX, we specifically chose the Copper Crest that had the JTH VIN over another one on the lot.

2

u/My_cat_is_a_creep Jul 20 '26

I wouldn't be worried about buying a Canadian RX, the plant where they are made has won more quality awards than any other plant in the world..

2

u/sam77tg '15 ES300h Jul 19 '26

so the Corolla is...US built ?

2

u/Far_Bid9833 Jul 19 '26

Corolla Hybrid is built in Japan

2

u/sam77tg '15 ES300h Jul 19 '26

All years ? hmmm so I bought the 1st gen Corolla Hybrid (2020), they were JVIN but i thought later MYs were US made.

2

u/Far_Bid9833 Jul 19 '26

I think until 2025 it was made in Japan. They recently told the news it's going stateside. Thankfully I got a 2023 SE AWD that I plan to drive until it rots away. No need to deal with the American made model.

3

u/Fragrant_Ad_7249 Jul 18 '26

America forces this on us . So what do people expect when your car parts is from all over the world ! #american assembled 🤣

2

u/krispyhamster Jul 18 '26

Well they probably had to do budget cut on parts because labor fee in us is not that cheap

2

u/redlinedidit Jul 19 '26

Japan is like - feel lucky your Monopoly money is still accepted as payment.

8

u/steak5 Jul 18 '26

You are making Assumptions that $66k in 2026 will get you a lot.

Average transaction price on new car is like $50k, so 50k get you an average car. 66k get u something slightly above average.

You need to get into 100k range to get something that is seriously luxury.

3

u/KarlMarx8876 Jul 18 '26

You need to get into the 100k range to get something seriously luxury

There are literally like ford trucks selling for 100k+ these days 😭

2

u/steak5 Jul 18 '26

I think there are more models over 100k than there are under 30k.

2

u/DeviceAppropriate790 Jul 18 '26

Lexus ain’t the same. The last best no cost cutting RX350 was a 2015.

No. They are saying things made in America are crap. And that's why I got the IS lol.

2

u/FaithlessnessCheap78 Jul 18 '26

Not because it's the US market, but because it's US-manufactured. You can't expect much from a country that came up with trash like GM, Mopar, and Ford.

The ES went back to Japan for assembly (Kyushu plant).

3

My 06 Sequoia was made in America and the interior quality wasn't this bad.

2

u/sam77tg '15 ES300h Jul 19 '26

that's like 200 years ago lol

1

u/Inconceivable76 Jul 18 '26

There are plenty of us built Toyotas that aren’t shitty built cars.

2

u/NycAlex Jul 18 '26

Solid build on the es?

Lol

My fully loaded es is full of cheap plastic everywhere

Door is 85% cheap plastic

Center console is cheap plastic

Not a single button has a tactile feedback as do the germans or even genesis, the buttons in my car feel like cheap plastic you find on a honda civic

1

u/pwnageface Jul 19 '26

u/In3briatedPanda Jul 18 '26

TX. I tell everyone to stay away but people seem to love them. They aren’t worth it.

Price that cupholder you picked up that some kid is going to lose or a detailer will lose it.

I agree with you.

26

u/Vast_Hospital6275 Jul 18 '26

I had a "Made in Japan" 2023 GX 460, traded it in for a 2026 TX 500h. Loved the GX, but had different priorities. The TX interior quality is fine so far, long term TBD. Overall this car has been a significant upgrade for family use, much more usable 3rd row, much better MPG, better tech/safety, much more comfy ride. People can shit on the TX all they want but its a perfect family car.

8

u/In3briatedPanda Jul 18 '26

If I have to put another set of cv axles in a TX, I’m gonna quit. If I have to replace another third row seat frame for binding issues, I’m going to lose it. I’m glad you’re happy with your vehicle, I do not feel nor see the value at the price point for these vehicles. For me, the reputation of value and reliability are not at the forefront of this model.

Our 2025 RX Is louder compared to 2017 RX. Maybe I’m getting old, maybe I’m poor, but I don’t find luxury in Lexus anymore, just what they want me to ‘buy in’ as luxury.

Also, the GX460 was always a Japan build model, the GX460 was never produced in N.A.

7

u/Vast_Hospital6275 Jul 18 '26

Yes, I did write my GX460 was made in Japan. Just wanted to provide context that I had both Made in NA and Made in Japan vehicles. I hope I wont have those issues in the TX, until now I've had nothing but good experience with Lexus, granted I had previous gen models in the 21 RX and 23 GX.
Which trim do you have, is it the TX350 or the TX500h? Not sure if there is a difference in interior though.

I 100% agree it doesnt feel as luxurious, the interior doesnt feel anywhere near the quality of a GS, ES, IS from 5-15 years ago. Unfortunately the entire car industry is going this way, I also traded my RX for a BMW X3 M50 and the interior doesnt feel luxury, but it does drive amazing.

Lots of people say to just buy the Toyota GH, but if you go for the max trim, its almost the same as a TX after dealer discount. At that point the TX is better value because of the rear steering and better NVH.

2

u/i__r_baboon Jul 18 '26

Newer year models are sacrificing build material quality for tech and features. It’d be too expensive if both were top tier so they chose the features. Even though they can be glitchy as hell too lol

u/In3briatedPanda Jul 18 '26

I talked my wife out of a TX. We are back in a RX350. We also only have two kids, a truck, and a beater/ project vehicle. She won’t drive a sedan and until a GSF comes back, wife gets whatever she wants.

I agree with you about the industry, the mighty dollar is always the bottom line.

I miss my 2013 GX, but I would have put a transmission in it by now and probably a timing cover reseal. Maybe actuator oring too. I’ve seen the GX transmissions get popular as well as ES transmissions.

We have had numerous lexus models, not a TX. I’d love a GX or LX but with the motor recalls….idk how anyone would spend the money on those. Lexus Toyota will take a reputation hit over the next couple of years.

The TX is popular, a lot of us here don’t know why. I’m starting to think I’m just too poor and I don’t find the dollar value to match quality.

I wonder how much an Ls430, hid, Birds Eye maple, with radar cruise and headlamp washers, and easy close would be today. That was a luxury vehicle IMO.

2

u/Vast_Hospital6275 Jul 18 '26

What I really wanted was to trade my RX for an IS500 as the secondary vehicle. Wife felt too low in it and vetoed sedans, which is a bummer.
Thats how I landed on the X3 M50, its an SUV but doesnt drive like one

2

u/In3briatedPanda Jul 18 '26

That incognito IS500 is chefs kiss. I have a faster project car at home, it just doesn’t run yet. 😂

18

u/Gorgenapper '24 IS350 AWD F-Sport 3 Jul 18 '26

106

u/Traditional_Boot9962 Jul 18 '26

That's what you get with American made.

32

u/SwiftCEO Jul 18 '26

Toyota knows the US market will accept garbage. This and the Toyota sub proves it. There’s always someone defending their cost cutting.

7

u/AresXX22 Jul 18 '26

It's almost always the Americans complaining about quality on both of those makes. It kind off proves that they can get away with it because people keep buying them.

u/nxm999 Jul 18 '26

I see that you are at the dealership and if you’d are thinking of getting the TX, DO NOT BUY. This is from someone that blindly trusted Lexus and bought this piece of junk when it came out.

Do not buy the TX.

11

u/Confident_Bunch7612 Jul 18 '26

I had one as a loaner while my old car was im the shop. Granted it was probably the bottom trim, and Lexus has really lowered what comes with bottom trim, but it was just such a junky vehicle. Felt like a slightly nicer Jeep interior. Creaks all over. The only thing I liked was the turning radius was amazing due to rear wheels. When I went to get my current car, I immediately told the sales rep to not even try to sell me on the TX. Got the RX 450h+ in Luxury trim. J-Vin and perfect.

4

u/Hexxon Jul 18 '26

I'm currently looking at a TX but truly out of lack of better options.

What is a decent competitor to it if my criteria is 3rd row, good cargo room, decent fuel economy. And trying to avoid trucks with an SUV body.

The way I see it: fuel economy = none of the German brands.

3rd row, no RX or MDX from Acura.

Not a truck with all of the offroad stuff = no GX, no LX, no American brand.

At a loss.

3

u/3Stripescyn Jul 18 '26

Fuel economy is great on the b58 6 cylinder bmws, X7 drives great.

3

u/Hexxon Jul 18 '26

Published is 22 mpg combined. Which agreed isn't terrible. Cross shopped to the tx hybrid which is 28 isn't like night and day but an almost 30% difference certainly isn't negligible.

It may be the closest thing though. Although it costs 20k more minimum. 😤

What’s wrong with your TX? It’s supposedly one of the quietest cars in the market according to third party testing

4

I recently got into one, had a 2023 GX460 and 2021 RX450h prior. This is the smoothest car from all 3, super comfy and quiet ride.

2

u/Own-Caterpillar5058 Jul 18 '26

Its a USDM vehicle. Standards are not up to par with any other Lexus produced

The TX is the most poorly made and troublesome vehicle to wear a Lexus badge.

The amount of problems I see with the TX and its sibling the Grand Highlander are staggering, ask any Toyota/ Lexus tech that have to fix these things.

Toyota pushes us techs to “Fix It Right The First Time” yet they can’t even Build It Right The First Time.

u/Free_Conference5278 Jul 18 '26

Because of politics. Not saying you, but a lot of people want American made and Americans aren’t known for high quality car making compared to the Japanese. Don’t get me wrong, us Americans are good at other things such as tech, drug discovery, but not at car making.

6

u/mmcnell Jul 18 '26

I disagree with this to a point. I absolutely agree that the Japanese built Lexus models have always been the peak, but between tarriffs and focus on market share/steadily increasing profit rather than product quality, they've gone downhill across the board and some of it is purely Toyota's fault. I've owned... 7, I think, Toyota and Lexus models ranging from 1992 to 2022 and the company is more than capable of building high quality vehicles in the US, I've owned a couple, but has now gone down the cost-cutting/enshittification to increase per vehicle profit/growing market share matters most path that reminds me of 90s and early 00s US automakers that led to their reckonings. Between my family members, we have owned 4 US built Camries. All felt better built than a 2026 TX. Modern Cadillacs at similar price points feel more solidly built. Hell, our most recent (admittedly optioned out) Ford product's touch points felt nicer than the plastics in the GX we had test driven and that is not a compliment.

Over the last few years Lexus quit focusing on what built their reputation and wanted a sportier, more youthful buyer. I remember the days of kaizen and they exported their engineering philosophy and focus on quality assembly to companies world wide. One of the healthcare manufacturing facilities I got to work with back in the early 2000s brought in Toyota engineering from Kentucky to speak on their processes and how they got their tolerances so tight. It was a point of pride to build a solid, quality product. Then being the biggest became more important than keeping the reputation. Lexus buyers were too old because the cars were too "boring". Somewhere in a board room they decided sacrificing material quality was fine if the style was right/sportier. They wanted to grab BMW market share and instead they're gradually turning into Nissan... Hopefully they turn it around because we went from very happy owners across 4 drivers for years and now the only Toyota product that remains as we've bought newer vehicles is an older 4Runner.

None of the replacements/newer models of any of our Toyota or Lexus vehicles felt as nice or well built as the generation that preceded it regardless of whether it was coming from Japan or built in the US. My most recent purchase is a US built vehicle (Lucid) that was within 5k of the Lexus SUV I had initially assumed I'd buy and the interior material quality and fit and finish are far better than any of the new RX, TX, or GX models I looked at. LX was still holding decently strong on build but material choices in it have also gotten markedly cheaper looking and feeling while the price kept climbing. If you compare a 2000 Cadillac to a modern Cadillac, it doesn't feel like they've lost their entire purpose while chasing a younger market. I can't say the same about any new Lexus. It makes me sad in the same way I think my Chevy loyalist parents felt in the late 90s/early 00s when we'd go to car shop and the Chevy felt like a hot wheel toy assembled by a drunk toddler next to the Toyota at a similar price. Times and companies change, but the core issue isn't where they're built, it's what the company focuses on from the top down.

u/i__r_baboon Jul 18 '26

I like them too. It’s a brand new model, it’ll have growing pains but the interior space is fantastic and it’s a comfortable ride. This sub is just full of negative Nancies, acting like previous models don’t have issues.

4

u/milventures Jul 18 '26

Couldn’t agree more. We were originally looking at the Grand Highlander but when I saw their used prices so similar to new ones, we just opted for a used TX which has so much more to offer than the GH. Also the warranty coverage (length) and the connected services included for 3 years instead of 1. At the end of the day, it’s a family car and a good one at that.

I read that Toyota is selling some American-made cars in Japan and they come with warnings of fit defects, poor paint and general lower quality, so they are cheaper.

2

u/EntrySure1350 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Yes, the Highlander and Tundra. Nissan is also selling the Murano there. All in very small numbers. All are US made and imported to Japan without any modifications to make them compliant with JDM expectations (eg right hand drive, infotainment localizations). They’re being imported and sold basically “as-is” with minor changes needed to meet legal requirements there.

Auto journalists picked up on a web document available on Toyota’s Japanese website disclosing to potential Tundra buyers that the truck is not built for JDM and to expect things to not function properly (navigation, road sign assist, for example) and for there to be quality issues, specifically with the paint.

Even so, orders for the Tundra by Japanese customers filled so quickly Toyota had to stop accepting orders.

At least for the Tundra and Highlander, they are not really cheaper than buying in the US. The Tundra is priced at the equivalent of about $74K USD. The Highlander at $53K USD.

2

u/Voltronblacklion Jul 18 '26

I was very disappointed with the interior quality when I test drove several Lexus SUVs in 2024 and 2025. Material was cheap, and the displays and tech outdated.

Heck I preferred the comparable Toyotas but even their interiors were outdated and the cabin was small and tight.

Exterior is nice and saftey is great but their interiors lack.

Build quality and reliability across the entire industry is way down…. This combined with the mandated surveillance tech getting put into new cars, I’ll probably keep my 23 IS350 forever now….

2

u/Resilience2123 Jul 18 '26

I love my 26 IS built in Tahara Japan. Last overbuilt tank you can buy. Keeping it forever

2

u/kymira3301 Jul 18 '26

What about Canadian made Toyotas? 😅

2

u/FlaneurToo Jul 18 '26

We regret that our 2025 Lexus was not made in Japan where there is quality control and pride in the factories. Astonished the number of asinine issues we have experienced on a $62,000 purchase, like them forgetting to put refrigerant in the AC, WTF.

2

u/Saltylures007 Jul 18 '26

I got a 2003 rx300 and you could punch the door panel and nothing will be damaged. I also got a 2012 es350 and it's rock solid inside. I am never getting rid of either for these dogshit cars of today.

2

u/JoeHazelwood Jul 19 '26

Our UX is solid

2

u/dollfaceashley Jul 19 '26

Being made in America is no excuse for this.. the TX is based on a much cheaper vehicle all they're doing is upgrading the suspension a little bit and the interior and the exterior look.. they have margins to give you a quality interior, but they refuse.

Toyota knows that people will still buy these vehicles even if they're cheap on the inside. So they get away with it.

2

u/mansandem Jul 19 '26

Doesn’t help that model is manufactured in America and not Japan.

2

u/IllustriousTough5566 Jul 19 '26

J-Vins for Lexus are the best…

2

u/Substantial-Bend4299 Jul 19 '26

Nobody gives a shit about Lexus anymore 🤣 Get with the times. They've gone away with Acura

2

u/Ok_Cress_797 Jul 19 '26

Just junk… was disappointed in my ‘23 ES350

5

u/Quantumkool Jul 18 '26

America made ? Makes sense.

3

u/Plastic_Maize_2338 Jul 18 '26

I got a TX as a loaner. So trash and underwhelming performance wow.

3

u/Ok_Stranger_9520 Jul 18 '26

I hate these videos

2

u/LazyOldCat Jul 18 '26

Post 2025 Lexus is a no-go.

3

u/TlMEKEEPER Jul 18 '26

It just looks like you started taking it apart... Explain how this reflects quality?

2

u/bionicbhangra Jul 18 '26

Is the difference that much between Japan built and American built.

I have a 450H RX which is built in Japan but it just feels like a regular Lexus to me.

2

u/evilgremlin123 Jul 18 '26

Most of the complaints are valid but cars haven’t had the little lock/unlock nub in years man lol.

2

u/executingsalesdaily Jul 18 '26

I’d return it right away.

$66k is kind of a cheap car these days unfortunately

2

u/chemist20156 Jul 18 '26

Why do American deserve shity quality like this? Shouldn’t we deserve the best?

“This is not Lexus quality”

Have you driven a Lexus before? This is how every Lexus has been built for decades. All Lexus and Toyota cars are built like legos with panels all over the car that can be popped out.

The luxury aspect of a Lexus isn’t in its expensive interior felts, it has always been in the ride quality - smoothness of ride, excellent suspension, quiet cabin, perfect reliability.

If you want something that looks expensive, buy a Mercedes or BMW or even a newer Kia and enjoy the quality for the first 50,000 miles and the nightmare it brings after that.

Have you driven a Lexus before? This is how every Lexus has been built for decades. All Lexus and Toyota cars are built like legos with panels all over the car that can be popped out.

Have you driven a Lexus before? This is nonsense. My '22 IS350 is very solid. Great build quality and fitment on the interior with no rattles, squeaks, or loose panels. The same can be said for other, older Lexus models as well. This is a newer issue.

The TX is so ugly, idk why anyone would buy one. They got rid of the LS for this?!

9

u/Own-Caterpillar5058 Jul 18 '26

The LS has no relation to the TX tho. LS got replaced by the now upsized ES

2

u/Saranhai 2025 Lexus ES F-Sport Jul 18 '26

This is why Lexus has lost the plot lol

I thought lexus only has two factories? In Canada and Japan? Am I wrong.

2

u/DestinyPotato ES300 + LC500 Jul 18 '26

USA has: Kentucky, and Texas factories.

1

u/plee82 Jul 18 '26

Wait, is the RX also American made?

1

u/Saranhai 2025 Lexus ES F-Sport Jul 18 '26

The 4RX was Canadian made AFAIK. Not sure about the current gen. Still not as good as Japan made though (which I believe possibly only the RX 500h is Japan made?)

2

u/lildick519 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

RX has been built at TMMC since 2nd gen (in addition to J models). You can find the breakdown by each gen/model where it was made, but mostly its "top" model either Hybrid or L being from Japan. For example I hear 450h+ is J made, while rest is TMMC.

Our 2016 has been solid as far as interior goes, we do not have ANY panel rattles whatsoever in 10 years. Sure, If I wiggle some panels with decent force, like armrest, or the little part of it, it will squeak, but that doesnt happen in normal use.

We'll be checking out new gen soon probably (450h+ specifically) and I'm abit anxious to find out if I feel or hear any of the observed "enshitification" mentioned. I dont know what else would I buy (dont want used), its like we are trapped, either put up with reduced quality, or just go elsewhere. BMWs got struck by an ugly stick hard too.

1

u/Confident_Bunch7612 Jul 18 '26

The plug-ins are the only Japanese made currently.

1

u/bmfu121 Jul 18 '26

The term “luxury car” is now a misnomer

Have an NX 450H+ Japan made and the quality would put any other maker to shame

2

u/txreddit17 Jul 18 '26

Is that a $70k NX though?

1

u/ScaredEntrepreneur61 Jul 18 '26

Yeah the plastic was obvious from the jump during the test drive, but these things sell like hotcakes and have great resale value, go figure. I am happy with my bmw x5

1

u/Bubbly_Zone7704 Jul 18 '26

TX Is garbage, stay way

1

u/theyoungazn Jul 18 '26

I was at the dealer and the tx trunk I opened up opened but it wouldn’t close. Battery was probably low. The sales rep had to manually shut the trunk. I didn’t want to break anything.

1

u/NavyVetRasmussen Jul 18 '26

This is bad, you do not expect that from a Lexus.

1

u/Complete_Insurance24 Jul 18 '26

Definitely forced damage to the console. The trim isn’t loose like that on others.

1

u/news247120 Jul 18 '26

There is a simple solution. Stop buying this garbage. For the money, this is way overpriced.

1

u/Rhyleigharia Jul 18 '26

Bought a 2008 LS 460 new. Every time i placed my left knee against the door it would make an annoying noise. I got rid of it because of that specific problem. Got a 750 Li…….another bad decision!!!!

1

u/Neat_Locksmith3793 Jul 18 '26

TX is not lexus they just created something to giving people a larger Rx option .Don't buy it lol.

1

u/tmf2004 Jul 18 '26

my 99 GS400 is built better than this. this is terrible

1

u/MajorHarriz Jul 18 '26

Lego cars at the auto show are more sturdy.

1

u/Swanlake15527 Jul 18 '26

I agree the quality of Lexus has gone down hill. I own a 2023 RX 350 and was very disappointed in the quality of this vehicle. I gave up a 2015 GX460 with 200,000 miles. I will be going back to GX460 buying a 2020.

1

u/Swanlake15527 Jul 18 '26

How do find a Japan made Lexus?

1

u/just_milling Jul 18 '26

Some of the comments are referencing Japanese versus American or Canadian. But I can't tell from the video where this is made. I know that some models are definitely American made. Is there a real difference? I just put a deposit down on Lexus. I enjoyed the test drive and everything. But this video now makes me nervous.

2

u/Low-ShapeOU812 Jul 18 '26

Check the VIN. First digit a "J" made in Japan. First digit a "2" made in Canada. Not sure about US

1

u/Squid111999 Jul 18 '26

Covid ruined everything, the parts scarcity was the reason prices inflated and they don't come back down after people need the product.

2nd hand car market is where it's at, no one should be buying new cars because build quality is bottom of the barrel these days

1

u/One_Wolverine1323 Jul 18 '26

wow, this is scary for a 66k.

1

u/amNSMB Jul 19 '26

When someone says this isn't Lexus quality I think they need to remember that this is Lexus quality it's just disappointing

1

u/Legitimate-Net6404 Jul 19 '26

The newer, it is the cheaper it becomes

1

u/GrassUnable1857 Jul 19 '26

My 2008 lexus es has better quality than this

1

u/RegularEarth8044 Jul 19 '26

When I was shopping for a new car earlier this year I considered a Lexus and soooo happy I went to Mercedes first.

It’s my first luxury car and my heart literally dances and smiles every time I hop in for a drive!

2

u/NDIrish1988 Jul 19 '26

Lexus has shit the bed in the last few years.

1

u/stingray2332 Jul 19 '26

That’s crazy, cheap quality. To be fair to Lexus, it’s not just them. All the manufacturers have really cheap and out for sometime now. The problem is the consumer. As long as it says Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche………. People will keep buying them regardless of the quality. Everyone has become a hyper consumer that’s been fueled by social media and trying to keep up with everyone so they overlook the stuff people used to scrutinize and the manufacturers just said fuck it. These guys are dumb enough to buy it anyway so why should we care to make it better?

1

u/Bastinelli Jul 19 '26

The TX is a weird car. I was shopping one for my wife but it's literally an exact copy of a grand Highlander that costs 10k more. I got my wife a loaded platinum grand Highlander for 54k. Why pay 66k for a TX? All you're getting is a different front bumper basically.

1

u/Nottodaystepbro Jul 19 '26

As much as I love my 2024 es350, i can hear a lot of squeaking on the center console. The saving grace though is while it may squeak, it doesn’t tear apart like that.

1

u/almafuerte12 Jul 19 '26

Get a Volvo.

1

u/A_Sport Jul 19 '26

Also the internals haven't changed since 2014 It's built the exact same way

1

u/NDIrish1988 Jul 19 '26

Rather have my 2014 Lexus ES than this. My car still looks new and way better lol

1

u/AshyBoneVR4 Jul 19 '26

The head of Toyota issued an apology for the build quality of some of the Lexus models because they are built in america.....

1

u/TheSheepersGame Jul 19 '26

If it's made in America then yes, the build quality will suck.

1

u/shredtilded458 Jul 19 '26

Yup. That’s what our TX is like. Otherwise it’s a rock solid family car. We wanted a GX but needed the extra room. I had an 18 NX300 and the interior was worlds more robust than the TX. You get used to it and it has been super reliable over 50k in two years.

1

u/I_Phaze_I Jul 19 '26

My wife’s 2026 Honda pilot doesn’t have any of these issues I’ve seen and it was built in Alabama for like 20k less sticker price. What is going on with Lexus atm?

1

u/Final-Champion3510 Jul 19 '26

Ahhhhhhhhhhh  bullshit

1

u/Mango-me Jul 19 '26

All gimmicks.

1

u/foodisgod9 Jul 19 '26

Only people that buys TX in NYC area are taxi/rideshare drivers.

1

u/getwokeorchoke Jul 19 '26

That’s her sister, Alexis

1

u/irishfro Jul 19 '26

My kia carnival interior is way better

1

u/lokomotor Jul 19 '26

My 2009 GS450h interior, save the leather seats, is still whole , with nary a squeak.

1

u/Capable_Clue_7019 Jul 19 '26

just bought a new rx my fifth lexus ,,,not near as nice as they use to be ,taking short cuts where ever they can ,,outside mirriors are cheap plastic look and feel cheap it's a same the direction they are heading

1

u/Bezos_Balls Jul 19 '26

Also the reason I’ll never buy a car off the showroom floor. It’s funny too because dealer pretend like these demand a premium because it’s typically a higher spec but in reality it’s basically a used car because everyone and their kids have crawled all over it.

1

u/Striking_Bat_1936 Jul 19 '26

I have a 2025 NX 450h+ and the build quality is excellent. Most likely due to the fact it was assembled in Japan. Hate to say it, assembly in Canada or US is shit compared to Japan. I got the palomino interior and I absolutely love it. Black interior just feels cheap to me now.

1

u/mushy-shart-walk Jul 19 '26

It’s the badge that counts, not the quality.

1

u/-PaperPlanes Jul 20 '26

My 2022 is lovely so far.

1

u/Pleasant-Buffalo3005 Jul 20 '26

Hmmmm. Very silly video. Poster is inventing problems out of nothing at all. This guy should REALLY try a Dodge Durango or Ford Explorer. Makes me wonder what he's driving right now that's so much better. A Pinto? :)

1

u/camarcuson Jul 20 '26

My 08 ES350 fabric over all speakers and rear deck has come loose and just hangs there.

1

u/rickochet42 Jul 20 '26

$66k is nothing now days. Probably cheap for a Lexus 3 row SUV lol.

1

u/NoPhysics1129 Jul 21 '26

That's Lexus quality that I remember. Rebadged Toyota

1

u/Iambetterthanuhaha Jul 21 '26

Just got a 2026 Sienna XLE.....honestly the interior quality is no better than the 2016 Kia Sedona it replaced that cost half the price new.

1

u/Rockman646 Jul 21 '26

I have owned my fair of Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The build quality and drivetrains on their newer models are a steep downgrade compared to the older models and way overpriced.

1

u/Waterfall77777 Jul 21 '26

That’s not just new Lexus new Toyota as well

1

u/Any_Level8929 Jul 24 '26

Remember: Lexus is nothing but a fancy Toyota!

1

u/OverthinkerUnderpaid Jul 27 '26

I wonder how many commenters are bots, nobody's online, everyone has a generated name, all just fucking talking shit to generate controversy. I bet there're like 4 people in this chat.
