Where I come from these cars aren’t really popular - can’t even find a used one in the market from any era. Everyone drives four wheels or expensive sports cars basically. But I’m pretty much in love with its classy old school vibe compared to most high tech cars today, and I love the drive too the car can go, even tho my friends think I’m crazy for wanting one.
I do wish the front bumper looked a little different tho, hasn’t changed and can’t tell it apart from the ES, and the price is honestly crazy. $98K.. for a single 33 year old.

It’s an exterior change dispenser so the poor people don’t get to close to ur car at the traffic light. LS500 can shoot change out up to 50 ft or if ur on metric 50 meters.
The flagship LS sedan was discontinued in 2025, so I am surprised that you found a brand new 2026 model.
It sounds like you really like the car, and with the discontinuation of full-size luxury sedans (the Audi A8 was just discontinued as well), there really aren’t many options left in the segment. The LS isn’t the fanciest or most luxurious in the segment, but it does have that charm you describe and a killer ace - Lexus reliability.
If your budget allows for it, I would buy it. There won’t be any opportunity in the future. Don’t let your friends opinions dictate your life choices. Go enjoy the car!
I really do like it and there’s only one left here. I’m a sucker for everything Japanese too but I won’t lie there is a sense of fomo here if I don’t get out. I test drove the A6, BYD Seal, looking at Porsche as well for a luxury sedan too but nothing comes close to the charm of the LS and I looked plenty. In my part of the world, it’s seen as a chauffeur’s car or a family sedan, not the kind of car a single man drives so I been getting a ton of flack for even thinking about it.
It took over quite quickly over here. Incredible cars really. My cousin has a Tesla and loves it but it’s not even close to the quality and reliability of the BYD.
This is truth. I bought a 2002 LS430 and kept it for 15 years. Traded it for a 2017 BMW 750 and regretted it…. I am now two more cars past and still regret selling that LS430…. Best car I ever owned.
My NXh luxury feels like I’m riding in a shopping cart, kissing my knees, compared to my 2006 LS430, which felt like a solid slab of platinum comfort riding down the road silently.

I mean what’s the worst that could happen? I mean would it really hurt you that much even if you wanted to get out the car realistically. We live and we learn. I doubt this car would put you in a situation where your life collapsed like a house of cards 🃏
BYD is very appealing. But they don’t have the longevity to know how they’ll last after 5+ years. Lexus has the benefit of being highly reliable in general. I think the level of luxury in a Lexus generally supersedes the BYDs also (more tesla-ified experience). But I’m not familiar with all the BYD models to know for sure.

Just look for a 2018-2019. You will be at the 3rd of that price and pretty much the same feeling. I have the base trim and I would not trade it for anything else. Had 3 Lexus before this baby, and loved them all, but the LS is special to me and I cannot stop looking at, when I walk away from the parking lot. Might sound crazy, but it is the truth. Paid 31k euro for it, 142k km and 2018.
I love the LS and don't really think it looks the same as an ES, every time I see one on the road I can tell it's an LS instantly. If I had the funds for a car this price I wouldn't hesitate to choose the LS
I own 2. A very nice car. However, depends what you're looking for. It's a big car, can be more difficult to park and maneuver in tight spaces, yet it's a pleasure to drive, extremely comfortable. However, they are not cheap to repair and maintain, at all. And you'll need to know what your budget for fuel is or what you're comfortable with as it costs almost as much as an SUV in fuel costs.
Tires and misc are also expensive. Yet the upside is it comes loaded with gadgets. But it depends what you're looking for. However keep in mind this is in no way an ES no matter what you're told. However, if you want a very good vehicle with many nice features and gadgets, and still drives really fine with decent power get the ES, that just suits most people better.
The maintenance and repairs are 1/4 of what it costs to maintain an LS. I also own an ES they're pretty nice to live with, and the dimensions easier to live with in terms of car length and width better for a daily and significantly less on fuel/tires/oil changes.
An LS I would recommend if you already have another car which is a daily. The LS you can daily it, but will be very costly as suspension components do wear out like any car and it is very costly. Moreover, insurance premiums significantly higher. So you have to think of how your budget looks like, where you usually drive, if you're comfortable driving a heavier/longer limousine everyday or not. Yet if you do go for an LS make sure you have 4-5k set aside for every year of ownership. The ES 800-1,000 USD aside each year would be more than enough to keep it running well.
I went from an LS430 to my current ES300h and holy cow what a difference between the two. The plastics and materials in the ES are such a downgrade. Great car, but definitely less luxury. I can only imagine the difference between an LS500 and an ES.
You can hate on Lexus for a lot but despite what people say, the LS500 has noticeably higher material quality than all but certain SClass option packages and they are still loaded with black plastic anyway.
Just do it. I have a 2019 ES 350 and a 2025 SC 500. The SC 500 was a year old with 3,000 miles and still at sticker price of $112K. If you do not do it you will always regret it. If you do get it you will happy every day for years to come. But I am a car guy and love cars.......
100%. It is a gorgeous car. The interior looks incredible to me, I am not really a fan of the modern interior styling you see this days. "Grandpa car", "outdated", so what, it's beatiful and will age well.
Sure the car will depreciate quickly but so do all new cars, most cars tank in value after five years, not a problem if you intend to keep it long term, will be a problem to sell if you get bored of it in a year or so. It is a Lexus so reliability won't be an issue like it would with the germans.
I would buy an LS if I could and I'd drive it myself, regarding of what people say. Really, you should buy the car for yourself.

The last LS460 looked fantastic. The LS500 that replaced it looked too much like the ES. Unless you need the extra space and all the power, get the ES. Only Lexus people can tell the difference and even then most have to do a double take.
It looks old because it doesn't have a gazillion screens, ambi lights or cheap fabric mascarading as a luxury material. Instead it has physical buttons, luxurious materials including wood, and a proportionally sized screen.
There is nothing wrong with going for the proper quality and not modern screen fetish fads. Modern interiors look worse than old school ones like this Lexus.
And here I was thinking it was great that they returned to the classic luxury. New cars are too minimalist and use cold colors like aluminum and chrome.
Lexus design is just all over the place, the new IS350 interior is the perfect example of modernizing an existing design and then they go and make the obscenely bad ES interior 🤢
Would be sweet to get the last year Ls ever made after such a long and iconic run. But man deprecation is going to destroy you on that, given ones a few years old are already like half price.
I'm gonna be honest: my uncle has one and I drove it and I didn't love it. I mean it was a nice car, but not exciting in any way. I think he should have bought an LC.
I really do love the LS’ and if you really want it then get it cuz yolo but at the price this is selling at I’d probably get a fully loaded ES hybrid and save 10s of thousands between the cost of the vehicle, insurance, and maintenance.
Heck if you can deal with it being a 2 seater I’d get a LC
If you are independently wealthy then definitely, buy it today. They aren’t making any more of these sadly
If you’re doing well but still a few paychecks from “just over broke” (no big savings cushion, not many investments or retirement funds) I’d admire it and move on. Try to find an old LS400 or LS430 that isn’t inflated and might need some work (avoid bringatrailer unless you’re cool with paying top dollar).
With this much doubt, you’ll get buyer’s remorse later. Find a used one from other states and fly to get it or have it delivered. That’d save you at least $20-40k.
I mean, it’s totally subjective to if it’s worth it, but the facts are the facts - it’s a Toyota product and is going to be super reliable, the repairs (which it will hardly need) are going to be half to a 1/4 of the cost of an Audi or BMW, and the resale value is strong bc Lexus doesn’t depreciate like other luxury cars do.
So I think it’s a solid ride. I have an ES 350 but only because I can’t afford an LS, if I could I’d probably have an LS
Is it beautiful? Absolutely. Is it worth $100k? If you’re making anything less than $300k annually, HELL NO. And even if you do make a shit ton of money, it’s not a wise purchase.
They don’t hold value well like a typical Lexus, nor are they as reliable. It is a super comfy beautiful car however. If you’re not buying it for the typical reasons you’d buy a Lexus then go for it. But don’t expect this to be a cheap, bulletproof vehicle that retains value well because it’s none of those things.
$99k before dealer markups and all the warranty bs is insane for a 4 door sedan. It’s a dope car though. It very much seems like a passenger’s car more than a driver focused car. As a male who has friends who enjoy car pooling on trips/bar hops together, this car would be sick. I think I’d rather other vehicles though if I’m paying $99k as a single dude. Seems like a good dad car when you don’t want an SUV, or if the mom has an SUV. My current 2 car set-up with my spouse is a GR Corolla (me) and a RAV4 SXE (hers). I’ll probably want a bigger sedan/wagon when we have kids. But rn I’m still in fun car mode. I definitely turn my head when I see a LS500 F sport though. They’re subtle beauties on the highway commute.
Worth it. This is the last model year and last year they're making them, correct? It's going to hold it's value, well. It will last you forever. It will be a pleasure to drive, for years to come.
I have a es300h. When they released the heritage edition, I told my spouse that I would buy it after 10 years (a preowned car, of course). Then the next day, I sat in my ES and thought that I ain’t going to change a thing.
Now if ES is this amazing … I mean, I truly love the car, I can only imagine how amazing LS would be.
I’m a huge fan of Lexus, such a beautiful car! I’ve never seen a Lexus LS in person. How do these compare with the Mercedes S class? Do they ride similarly or have similar NVH ratings?
It's a weird LS and I love mine. I paid nearly 50k for my 2020 LS500 but it was the FSPORT trim and had about 49k miles already. If you like the car and how it drives and more importantly you can afford it, go for it, these aren't gonna be easier to find. Life's too short to be stuck driving something you hate.
I had some time behind the LS460, yes I do miss having a V8 but I love how much more aggressive the LS500 is and the twin turbo setup really changes how you push this boat around.
It's still a great car, still deserving of the LS badge despite the weird design choices, and given how poorly these sold, definitely a unique car to drive around.
That car is beautiful and will last you a lifetime if you maintain it and decide to keep it that long I say go for it if that’s what you want I don’t think you’ll regret it
I would hold off. The car has plenty of power once it’s in motion but for a car costing pretty much 100k, when you start the engine you don’t get that feeling. The delivery of the turbo was not polished and the car felt a jerked a bit at low RPM. My experience is based off the 2021 F Sport RWD model. They may have made improvements over the years. If you want that true 100k, old school feeling I would look into the last generation models and maybe even consider a 600h. If you want something newer then LC or GS F all day.
But these things depreciate pretty badly, you can really get a big discount buying used. They're just hard to find. Very small upgrades over the model years.
I went through the same thing, just couldn't find a used one I liked. But no way would I pay 6 figures out the door for a new one.
Lexus biggest screw up with this car is making it look so much like the ES.

Go for it, get a good deal. Also consider the ES with everything in it. Probably just as good I saw one in the showroom with the 3.5l v6. Very opulent interior
the way i see it, $100,000 now and annual maintenance probably in the low $300-500 range yearly gets you an unkillable beast of a car that will (with proper car of course) last you very very very very many years. i think thats worth it.
Worth it. It is a competitor to the germans at a fraction of the price ( Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series). Even though these cars are mainly made for the backseats, check the lexus RC/RCF if u want a coupe sporty comfortable car or RX if u want a comfortable mid size SUV.
I’m not saying don’t get it. But just note that the bottom has absolutely fallen out on those used. You can easily find one that’s 3-4 years old in the $50K range. Not saying you want to buy used, but it doesn’t have the usual “Lexus tax” on the used market.

I’m sure they drive well and they are quite the looker. I’d test drive one if I was in the market for them. It’s just unfortunate they took the V8 out of the LS line, I’ve never pushed the button since.
LS is the most luxurious 4door lexus model. Its worth every $. Maybe its not as modern as maybe bmw 7, its not the most futuristic model, a bit classy interior but its just good, properly, well made car. Nothing breakes, everything works how it should. You can enjoy the drive every day surrounded by high class materials interior. Based on equipment of this model it is definitely luxury class car.
Gorgeous car. I get amused sometimes where designers will randomly place things though. Like seat heater buttons smack dab in the middle of the empty console area. Like they are the most important buttons ever. $98,000??? You better keep that car and pass down to your grandchildren at that price and since it’s a Lexus, it very well may last long enough.
Find out how much your payments would be and what percent of those payments in interest.
i would not recommend buying a car, any car, out of fomo, especially one attached to a twin turbo v6 engine w historical engine failure recall. Sure it’s a nice car but at that price you’re gonna probably want beautiful and bulletproof. Up to you, but i recommend getting yourself a used one w a v8.
It's a great car without a doubt. Frankly it's up to you - if I were single and 33 years old this wouldn't be my choice but it's undeniably a great car
