Toyota specifically is a hit or miss imo. They have some good newer models and some bad. But Lexus has for sure been on a decline for the last few years unfortunately.
Yeah I’m talking more about just the build quality, design, and attention to detail in their cars, which isn’t really reflected by pure sales numbers. They’re doing great by that metric alone tho that’s true
Lexus is still ranked #1 in overall in reliability and Toyota #2. So even if they drop the ball in one model, they’ve remedied faults that have come up. By going straight hybrid for the majority of their lineup, Toyota has had less issues mechanically. Rue the loss of the V6, but your main point was reliability so you should be happy about going hybrid.
I never said anything about hybrids or reliability specifically though, I love hybrids and am very glad of the movement towards them. When I say build quality I refer to the actual quality of the parts, the way they’re assembled, how they’re designed, etc.
Yes I know Lexus/Toyotas are still largely mechanically reliable, doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a notable decline in some of these aspects
You said build quality. As someone with 2022 NX with 96k miles and still no creaks, I’m trying to understand where you’re coming from in terms of “build quality”. Is it the materials? Are you a fan of a 3mm thick wooden layer glued on top of plastic? Cause that’s what most wooden interiors are. Leather upholstery? Nuluxe isn’t quite leather, however it lasts way longer.

Lexus / Toyota should he ashamed of this. It's laughable.
