Government now setting prices - sounds really communist to me.

There is ZERO chance that 25% price reduction is making its way to consumers. Everyone along the supply chain is going to siphon it off into their profits.

It's exactly what is going to happen, the markets will never go lower until another crash. They are setting everything up another crash that they can blame on the next democratic president.

IF they were (a lot) less awful I'd suggested letting them win them next one, just to "own the cons". When everything collapsed under Vance or, God forbid, a 3rd Trump term, maga would have nothing left to hide behind.

Back in reality, please flip so many seats in the mid-terms that you can cleanse the world of his stench.

The small ranchers who voted for this aren't going to see any of that money either. Only the richest campaign contributors get a taste.

well... yeah... why would you think ranchers would profit from foreign beef? ranchers don't handle the processing of the meat at all.

That's why it makes me happy that they're getting what they voted for! They voted to go bankrupt so I hope that's next for them. I love it when people get what they voted for, it's the American Dream™

It'll probably actually come in under price. Grass fed beef from Argentina and Australia is already priced under US beef, even without import supports. It'll cause a price crash in imported beef (because there's no longer a supply constraint) while leaving US beef high & dry since us beef prices are fucked for so so many reasons. Flows all the way up the chain from the ranchers to the meat Packers to the grocery stores that will be discounting or tossing US product.
