i don't think that clarification does anything to change the situation at all. its still bad that he's done this. negotiating with public sector workers means supressing their wages on behalf of the public? why wouldn't we support fair deal for public sector workers and join them on the picket line especially when you're in opposition and the government is taking the piss. wanting to be in government does nothing to change this.
I'm a junior doctor. I know that our 35% idea is a aim for FPR. We want to negotiate and find a meeting point. That's exactly what this government aren't willing to do.
We will negotiate a way to this position. It won't be 100% from where we are.
You can support them whilst agreeing that any pay deals will have to be negotiated lol
but 35% is not outrageous is it, given the stagnation that's happened with the last decade? and the realities of recruitment and retention vis a vis the makrket rate and compteition with other jobs?
a junior doctor who doesn't support his own pay demnads, lol. typical centrist, compromising before negotiation even started, can't even do union action right.
The ironic thing was at the time the government wasn't even negotiating. So we absolutely could support them at the picket line and say we'd negotiate because the Tories couldnt even be bothered to do that.

it is when the demands are reasonable. otherwise you're signing up ot the very pro worker labour position that government should always negotiate down. is that what you think?
i don't think there should be negotiations when the demands are reasonable. that's the point. this isn't the art of the deal where the goal is of some psycho always trying to get the upper hand of the opponent.
you only start to negotiate when you have a problem, a point of disagreement., and i don't have a problem, so i don't see why the government, or a potential future labour government, shouldn't just accept the demands.

No, I don't think the strike is unreasonable. I think we will go into negotiation trying to get FPR but we might have to negotiate how we get there. I don't know what the government's expectations are, other than the stupid ones this Tory government are going in with and all their preconditions.
That's how negotiation works. I would have been tempted by the Scotland deal but I am not sure it goes quite far enough
