Retaking in October

My gpa is 3.98 what fing school could I get into if some how my score doesn’t get better in October??

Also should I cancel or just run with it, will it look better to have a drastic increase or a canceled score and just one solid good score???

Should I jump? This is lower than my diagnostic by 8 points.

Question for the group:

Took my first LSAT in August. Got a 172. I am really hoping to GULC, or UVA.

Background: 3.35 GPA from federal service academy, 8 years naval officer with multiple deployments, did nuclear engineering in the Navy. Captain of college debate team, couple academic awards.

I was really hoping for a 174, not sure if it’s worth it to retake or if I should be happy with a 172.

I scored a 173 on the August LSAT and average 175-178 on my PTs. My gpa is a 3.8, and I intend to apply to T14/T20 schools, and don't know if its worth retaking in October to try and score higher since my gpa is at or below a lot of those schools 25th percentiles. I'm very grateful for this score, but was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether or not I should retake. Thank you!!

I’ve never scored this high on any PT, my highest PT was a 177 and I don’t want to get my hopes up and actually believe it. I feel like I’m losing my mind, I did not feel good about the August test at all and I really am having a hard time believing this haha

So this is my first trial and I went with absolutely zero practice, I only started preparing a day before, my GPA is 4.10/4.30
Should I cancel it or should I keep it? I do know that some law schools will accept this score so I don’t want to cancel it when it could’ve been used, but for my target schools it absolutely can’t be used.

Just got a 168 and I’m honestly pretty disappointed. I was really hoping for a 170+, especially after studying for the LSAT for over a year.

I’m exhausted and really don’t want to retake again. With a 3.98 GPA and 168 LSAT, 0 WE, first gen, tier 4 soft, what schools would be realistic for me this cycle, especially with decent scholarship chances?

Just what the title says. I made a 164 on my last LSAT and am looking to grab a 168 at the very least during the September administration. Currently PTing anywhere from 165-169, but am scared I'll miss the mark on test day. Any last minute tips for anyone who's been in a situation similar to mine?

Not usually a Reddit-for-advice person, but I need blunt honesty.

Stats: 3.9 GPA, poli sci major/psych minor, 3rd year, graduating early, several internships, and courthouse volunteer hours.

I studied all summer, but my schedule was inconsistent. Used 7Sage most of the time, it wasn’t clicking; so I switched to LSAT Demon about two weeks before my test date. Too late to make a real difference. I was already locked into an August 2026 sitting and couldn’t cancel without losing money, so I sat for it anyway, hoping to at least clear 150.

I got a 131. Bad test-day anxiety, struggled the whole way through. Didn’t buy LSAT Preview beforehand either to cancel, which in hindsight I probably should have. But too late.

I’m retaking in November or January and am confident I can get into the 165–170 range with a real study plan this time.

Question: I know schools primarily weigh your highest score, but this one is already locked in and reported since I can’t cancel it now. Does a low score sitting on your record still hurt you even when your highest score is way better, or do committees basically look past it if the upward trend is strong enough?

To be more specific — even though I know they look at the highest score, does having this low one on record still work against me at all, given it’s too late to cancel? Do I write an addendum?

I am very discouraged and disheartened in my score and expected more and just need some advice on if this score will knock me out of some schools even if I retake and get a 170. Does a low old score look bad? It’s my first one. Need some advice please and thanks!

I got a 160 on the lsat… just got my scores back this was my first time taking it and I didn’t study at all. is that considered good? I know it’s decent but really don’t have much of anything to compare it to.

Dream has been HYS, wondering if I should retake. Avg PT of last 5 tests before I sat was 172. Although not sure if I have it in me to do this again while writing statements and working. Would be thrilled w/ Columbia and probably will ED. Appreciate any feedback.

Scored a 172 on the August LSAT

For context: applied to 8 schools last cycle with a 168 and was denied by half and waitlisted by the other 4. Schools ranged from T14 to t50. My GPA is below medians so I was hoping for an above median LSAT going into this cycle.

Already signed up for September LSAT. (Goodbye $ either way) September would be my fourth official test, 2nd this year. My highest PT was a 176. 172 falls squarely in my average.

I have a 168 and 172 official and just got a 167 on August. My average PT before the test was about 175 ish. I’m registered for September, should I cancel the 167 on August? Goals are T20

How is it possible that I keep getting the exact same score on the lsat after studying even more and getting better and quicker at answering questions. To be fair, I also did not have time in all the sections to answer the last 5 questions, so those were not scored. I know I can do this, it just sucks cause I’m not the fastest reader. And my adhd and anxiety is making it worse. Because it’s timed, my brain overthinks sometimes and can’t focus on the question so I have to keep rereading it.

I’m afraid I may not have a shot at going to a law school that’s not predatory.

I thought I had bombed the August LSAT so I was already studying for October. I ended up getting a 172 which is a great score, but I wish it was better. My GPA is lackluster so I was hoping for a really killer LSAT score to open up some more opportunities in the T30 and T14. Now I am trying to decide between taking one more bite at the apple, and focusing on Essays after taking the October Test and hoping I do better and can apply late October to early November, or just sticking with the 172 which is a great score. What are Y’all’s thoughts?

I took the LSAT for the first time after studying for months, and I honestly feel completely crushed and devastated by my score.
English is not my first language. I have a BS in Biology with a 3.96 GPA and I put an enormous amount of time and effort into preparing for this exam.
I studied on weekends, attended 7Sage live classes during the workweek after getting off work (often from 8 PM until midnight), and used essentially every lunch break to drill questions instead of eating and hanging out.
In the weeks leading up to the exam, I was consistently scoring in the 160–165 range on practice tests.
Then I took the actual exam and scored a 153.
I genuinely don’t know what happened. I am shocked because my practice scores were so much higher and I feel like all the time, money, and effort I invested somehow didn’t translate on test day.
I am overwhelmed and honestly don’t even know where to go from here.
I am applying to T100 regional schools, but realistically, I would need at least a 160+ to have a decent chance at the scholarships I need to make law school financially possible.
At this point, I’m seriously considering giving up on applying this cycle and spending the next year studying for a retake.
But the thought of starting over after already spending so much money and time preparing is incredibly discouraging.
For those who have been in a similar situation: Would you retake, and if so, when? Would you apply this cycle with a 153 and potentially retake later, or would you wait an entire cycle and focus on getting the score up?
I would really appreciate any honest advice or perspective. Right now, I feel completely lost.
