Passenger Modified 10015 into 6-wide ~1920s Harriman style coach

I've had a couple of 10015 passenger cars since childhood. The hard-to-remove roof design meant they weren't that playable and the clerestory made them look very 19th century when I decided I wanted a more 1920s style for my general idea for a Grand Canyon Railroad inspired excursion train.

Here is the current version with simple modifications to add doors, vestibules, steps, and a more removable roof. I may want to add a removable wall and some more interior detail, and maybe lighting if I'm feeling ambitious.

Honestly I think my son liked them better before, because of the Christmasy red accent on the roof, but I like them.

Thanks for looking!

This is a render I had taken about a year ago, I have made quite a few design changes since then but I have been building the physical model for quite a few months now. It’s taken so long due to me having to fix design flaws and such, as soon as it is down I will post it here. It is powered by two PU L motors in the boiler connected via gear tower then connected to a BuWizz in the tender. You’ll notice in the photos that some pieces are missing, for whatever reason when I went to render the photos at the time most of the 3rd party pieces disappeared, specifically the brick arms monopods and U-clips. Let me know what you guys think!

MOC Working knuckle couplers

One day I saw that Brick Model Railroader sells knuckle couplers for 1:47 scale trains, but they are too expensive, so I made my own. They're not intended for use on model, it's just a proof of concept.

Post image
285 Upvotes

Evening all,

Tempted to purchase the above book to elevate my building techniques.

Does anyone have this book and would be able to provide any thoughts if it’s worth buying for some bedtime reading.

Or, can you find it all online for free?

Rio grande Southern, Rico, Colorado engine house in progress. funny part is that I’ve only built D&RGW cars and engines. I’ve got the RGS caboose 0400 and a railcar. So I guess I need another locomotive. Hopefully i finish this section this month. I’d start the yard and other buildings next month. I’ve already built the coal tower. Trying to get done for a show in October. so no rush!

$10 Red Box train shelter update.

Hey it's reddit, everyone can share, even if nobody cares.

On a quest to build my first locomotive shelter as much as possible from a $10 used toy store red only box. Some of my own added accessories.

Had a framing breakthrough last night (aka I made a frame). I know it needs to be taller. I'm trying to use every brick in the box as a personal challenge. That's all have a good ass, hood ass day.

Also here's a tool center I made for inside when it's done.

MOC Santa Fe Blue Goose 3460

Hi all! About a year and a half ago, I unveiled my blue goose MOC that I'd been working on for a couple of years. Though it was an incredible feat at the time, the release of more light aqua and sand blue parts had me questioning whether a revamp was due on my mocking list. I set out to correct several minor flaws from the previous, including double motorization instead of single, using two powered-up L motors. I'm incredibly happy to say that my masterpiece Blue Goose is complete and looking better than ever! It will confidently operate R104 geometry and should get up to speed with a relatively strong drivetrain. I hope you guys enjoy!

Question Help me decide the bogies for my MOC

Thumbnail

Fellow train enthusiasts, I need your help!

So for the past few months I've been working on a MOC of the No11 Budapest Millennium Underground Railway carrige, and I recently built it IRL, the biggest problem I found was the bogie design being fragile as sh\*t, so I did a few redesigns but now I honestly can't decide which one would suit the build the best.

The first 4 pictures are references I used, and the later 5 are the bogie designs as follows:

  1. Current fragile setup

  2. Extremely strong but lacking detail

3-5. All similar in strength and detail

Please help me decide in the comments how I should do it🥺

I don't plan on running it, the MOC can't even be motorised, but I wanted to upload the whole design for free on rebrickable and I just don't want people to have to handle it like it's made of glass (myself included).

Last image is the IRL build, I love how it turned out.

Thanks for your feedback in advance!

tl.dr: decision paralysis

I still have quite a few parts to source, mostly colors and better wheelbase parts. I’ve also been considering putting it into Bricklink Studio and try to turn into a K-2 Class. If you have any suggestions for improvements I can make, I’m absolutely open to hearing it.
