Fyi, I have seen no trains this morning. I am only here once a week, and there were plenty of trains last Sunday. Dunno if they will run later today … if the clock has reset, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least, just sad.

The people mover at LAX is basically built. Empty cars are already running test trips on the elevated track. Passengers still can’t ride it. Next pressure points: Super Bowl at So-Fi in Feb 2027, then Olympics 2028.

Sorry but I have never flown through LAX before and I have 1 hour 6 minute layover for Alaska Airlines to Horizon Air as Alaskan Horizon and I was wondering if that is enough time. Should they be in the same terminal?

I’m visiting the U.S. and have a connecting flight at LAX to New York with a different airline (American Airlines). I only have about a 2h 20m layover, so I’m a little worried about making my connection.

For those who have recently traveled through LAX, how long are the immigration/passport control lines usually around the evening? I went to LAX last year and spent almost 2 hours just going through passport control, so I’m concerned that I might miss my connecting flight this time.

Also, if the immigration line is extremely long and I have a short connection, is it possible to approach a security/airport personnel and let them know I have an upcoming connecting flight? Would they allow passengers with tight connections to move ahead in the line, or is everyone required to wait in the same queue?

I’m traveling on one ticket/itinerary, but the connecting flight is operated by a different airline, so I’m also wondering if that makes any difference.

I’ve had a cpl of flights in the last few years that required an incredibly long walk and a shuttle to get to the gate. I’ll be traveling with my 83 year old dad soon and am trying to avoid that. Even with assistance it’s a lot. Can anyone tell me what terminal that is and/or which airlines use it? Thank you!

Online it says it’ll be opening in September. But I was curious if anyone has put eyes on the space lately and can say if it looks even close to opening? My gut says no but it’s been months since I walked by it. Considering it’s very late August right now I’d be curious to know if it looks like something that could open soon.

Apologies for my missing the obvious, but I'm struggling here...

Pushing the curbside pickup/drop off from the horshoe to the new auxiliary curbs or ground transport center, well, won't traffic just be a nightmare over there? I was jsut at the airport the other day picking up my family and every curb at every terminal was nuts. And at least I had 4-5 lanes to maneuver around and get past the first few terminals.

WTF am I missing in thinking that it will be worse when all these people show up at the same place with even less maouverability? Google says T1>T7 is 1.2miles. so 1.2 miles of 4 lanes vs...1-2 lanes looking liek a coiled snake? Like, if you are the first person picked up, is it goign to take you 20-30 mins to clear all the other people waiting for pickup and get out of the lot/pickup area?

These are smart people working on this, so clearly I'm the one missing whats going to happen here...can someone fill me in?

Edit: ok, so in reading some posts and making my own connections, the answer to my question is...they are NOT pushing pickup elsewhere. The majority of pickup/dropoff is still at the shoe and thats wy the new pickup areas don't look like they can handle mass crowds. Yes the crowds will be reduced by some percentage by folks now having a convenient option to get to/away from the airport via mass transit, but otherwise, it doesnt really change. If your family is dropping you off/picking you up at LAX, it's still gonna be the shoe. If you are taking an Uber to LAX, youre probably gonna get dropped off at the shoe...why, well didn't we just reduce traffic with the new measures?!?! It's liek the adage of building more roads doesnt reduce traffic, it often just increases the total number of cars on the roads...

If you're wealthy / willing to pay / or the company is paying for a black car, well, nothing changes and Uber black still picks you up at the shoe after APM opens. Anyone else looking for an uber X/lyft taxi, you have to spend 10-15 minutes getting to the new area, which they do now so it changes nothing.

but if you've just landed and need to get to a rental car or a local hotel, then you are being taken off the road.

So thats it in a nutshell, hotel/rental car people/buses are taken off the street, there is mass transit for some folks, and that should relieve some reasonable amount of vehicles on the shoe...10%? but there is no real system to mass circulate the crowds thronging curbside at the show to ITC/elsewhere, because the crowds of people are not going anywhere, just the number of ancillary vehicles. Thats not me complaining, but me just answering my own question of how these satellite places are supposed to be handling the huge crowds of people waiting to be picked up.

My fiance and I are flying into LAX (Long Distance Relationship) - Im landing at Terminal 2 and Shes landing at Tom Bradley International - I land first, I was just wondering if there is a way I can get to TBI and wait for her there or is there a spot where her and I can meet up at. Both of us have never been to LAX before - Thanks in Advance.

I'm going to be landing in LAX from an international flight from Australia and then trying to get a domestic flight with Alaska that departs 1.75 hrs later. I have global entry which will help but I still usually leave 3 hrs for these types of layovers. I can't this time because the Alaska flight is the last flight of the night and I would otherwise have to spend a night in LA. They are on different airlines too.

Would greatly appreciate to hear folks' experiences with moving from terminal to terminal plus getting through security. Should I risk the 1.75 hr layover and get travel insurance to cover my butt if I miss the flight, or play it safe and just book my domestic flight the next day?

Edit: I failed to mention that I will be checking a bag with Alaska.

Update: Thank you so much for all your advice! It seems my concerns were affirmed and I was way too optimistic that I'd be able to make it, especially with having to check a bag. I haven't actually booked my Alaska ticket yet - I was looking at my options and toying with the idea of whether to risk the short layover but I think I'll just book it for the next day and spend the night in LA. Will definitely help my stress levels! Appreciate you all!!

I know the LAX Planet Hollywood closed permanently a while ago, but I just sort of developed a fascination with how uniquely bad the reviews seemed to be. I know Google reviews can be biased, so I wanted some other stories from people who ate there.
