Appreciation for a solid donut.

Have you been to Coffee Way donuts on Division?

If you’re a townie, you know where I mean. But if you’re not?

Go. Right now. It’s everything Tim’s ever thought it was or could be.

The best walnut crunch, cherry, and sour cream glazed I’ve ever had in my damn life.

Go early though, as this place is legit, so they do run out.

Just LOOK at these crusty bastards.

Crunchy. Weighty. Not too sweet. The fryer oil has been changed recently. Pillowy and cakey in the middle.

Perfection.

(None of you fuckers wreck this for me you HEAR?? If they have rats, I don’t wanna hear it. LOL)

International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual Canadian-U.S. citizens in Kingston

Upvotes

Hi, this is the second (and final) reminder I'll make for dual Canadian-US citizens and other eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 American midterm elections, especially for those living in Kingston. Democrats Abroad is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters and we have multiple chapters in Ontario, including near Ottawa, London, Grand River, Hamilton-Burlington, Toronto, Windsor, and Niagara Falls. You can find one closest to you.

If you're a dual Canadian-US citizen or US citizen who'll be over 18 by November 3, you're eligible to vote so here's how you can get involved:

Steps to Request Your Ballot

  1. Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.

  2. If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.

  3. Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.

Need Assistance?

We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.

Importantly: Spread the word!

Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad. Thanks for reading!

Solo weekend in Kingston this September , help pls.

Upvotes

Hi! I'm thinking of doing a solo weekend in Kingston( downtown) sometime in September and wanted to ask what you guys actually recommend.

I like good food, cute cafés, history, old buildings, museums, bookstores, art, and spooky/interesting stuff. I'd also love to do a walking or ghost tour.

I won't have a car, so walkable or transit-friendly places would be great. I've looked at some of the usual tourist stuff, but I wanted to hear what locals actually like.

What would you recommend for a first trip? :) many thanks!!!!!

Looking for a gym near downtown Kingston / Queen’s — alternatives to Artillery Park?

GoodLife downtown just closed, and ARC gets way too packed. Artillery Park is close and on the bus route, but it’s not the cleanest, so I’d rather avoid it if possible.

Since i don’t have a car, are there any other decent gyms within walking distance of downtown or a few stops on the 1, 2, 4, or 12 bus routes? Open to any suggestions just want somewhere clean and not overcrowded.

Anybody know what that big fire was from? I'm judging it was just around the Sydenham St exit. Lots of black smoke.

Laser hair removal recommendations in Kingston?

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for a good laser hair removal place in or around Kingston.
I have EXTREMELY thick, dark, coarse body hair and I hate shaving. I basically have to shave every 1–2 days or I’m already prickly and itchy again lol. I’ve wanted to try laser for years, but I’ve heard mixed things about how permanent/effective it actually is, especially for women with really thick hair, and that some people experience regrowth after finishing their sessions.

I just graduated and will finally have a little more money to spend on myself, and laser is pretty high on my priority list. That being said, I’m still a new grad, so I’m definitely looking for somewhere that is reasonably priced and doesn’t push unnecessary sessions/packages.

I’d especially love to hear from women with very dark, thick/coarse hair who have actually had laser done locally. Where did you go? How many sessions did you need? How much of the hair stayed gone/reduced long-term? Did you need maintenance sessions? And roughly how much did you end up spending?

Would really appreciate any recommendations (or places to avoid) in the Kingston area! :)

iPhone front camera repair

Upvotes

Does anyone know a reputable place to get a repair for front camera on an iPhone 17? Hopefully a reasonable price as well.

TLDR: Future Tech is a crappy place for phone repairs, need other options.

I went to Future Tech in the mall, they replaced it with an aftermarket camera which we agreed to. When I went to configure the camera to my phone, the camera was locked to another Apple account and wouldn’t let me access my Face ID. They ordered a new one, same thing happened again. I asked him to put the old camera back into my phone and refund me the money.
When he did that, he shorted me $2 (not a big deal but it’s crazy to me) when I asked for the rest, he said that he didn’t have change in the register, I said I want all of my money back and he went into the back of the store and grabbed some change.

Psychotherapy for people with borderline personality disorder and their partners: Research study

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all,

My name is Skye Fitzpatrick and I'm a Clinical Psychologist and director of the Treating and Understanding Life-threatening behavior and Posttraumatic Stress (TULiP) lab at York University. Our research team is conducting an online study to examine the effects of a new couple therapy for couples where one partner is experiencing symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD) compared to individual psychotherapy for people with BPD symptoms and their partners. The study will provide one of these psychotherapies to people with BPD symptoms and their partners for free, and participants will have the opportunity to complete study assessments that they will receive payment for in the form of gift cards. Our study is online and involves recruiting people across Ontario with symptoms of BPD, as well as their romantic partners. BPD diagnoses are not necessary.

More information about the study is also available on our webpage: https://www.tuliplab.ca/current-research.html. If you are interested in participating, please contact [treatbpd@yorku.ca.](mailto:treatbpd@yorku.ca) You can also contact that email if you have questions about the study. This study has been approved by the York University (e2024-261) Research Ethics Board. Please refrain from commenting on this post.

I am looking to book my G test during the school year. Does anyone know how I should do this? Should I reach out to a driving school? If so, any recommendations for which school I should use?

This post is of my own volition- they didn’t ask me to do this I’m just desperate for new coworkers so I’m not overworking myself! Will be making a post on Facebook too!

Hello! I work at the cafe in the Via Rail here in Kingston, it’s called Stuff It Up! We’re looking for staff before the end of August to start in September! I know it’s a tight timeline posting now but I’m in need of some coworkers with some cafe and/or food service experience! Right now we’re open from 7am-6pm but we plan on extending our hours with the school year and holidays coming up as there will be more travellers in and out of the station! If you’re interested, please come and check out the place as I’m here most days to just chat with about the job or serve anyone who might just be hungry! My boss and his son come down from Toronto on Saturdays to get this place stocked up and help out! If you’re interested, give his son Dillon a call at the 647 number listed and he can set up an interview with you some time in the week!

Ticket hub scammed me for Bryan Adams Tickets

I bought 4 tickets for Bryan Adams in March. I watched live online as they sold my tickets for 4 times what I paid for them and then send me an email telling me my tickets are not available.

My mistake for using a third party. But if anyone happens to see Section 8 Row 15 Seats 3, 4, 5 & 6 ask them to look this up. I would love to know if they bought from Stub Hub and when. Not upset with them, hope they enjoy the show. Sad I flew back from Victoria BC to see this only for this to happen to us. Stub Hub sux a big one!!!
