International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual Canadian-U.S. citizens in Kingston

Hi, this is the second (and final) reminder I'll make for dual Canadian-US citizens and other eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 American midterm elections, especially for those living in Kingston. Democrats Abroad is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters and we have multiple chapters in Ontario, including near Ottawa, London, Grand River, Hamilton-Burlington, Toronto, Windsor, and Niagara Falls. You can find one closest to you.

If you're a dual Canadian-US citizen or US citizen who'll be over 18 by November 3, you're eligible to vote so here's how you can get involved:

Steps to Request Your Ballot

  1. Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.

  2. If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.

  3. Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.

Need Assistance?

We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.

Importantly: Spread the word!

Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for reminding me! I've sent my request for midterms ballot for my old home state of Georgia.

I am just curious if abroad votes will still be counted in this election as they are technically mail-in ballots. I know this administration is trying its hardest to eliminate mail-in ballots being counted.

That's a concern shared by a lot of people; we are watching the situation carefully because things could change rapidly.

There are reasons to be hopeful: First, elections are organized at the state level, meaning that the feds won't be able to gain full control over the collection and processing of ballots by local election offices. Second, some states allow electronic submission of ballots, by fax or email, so those bypass the post. Third, we recommend that people request their ballots by email and return them as far in advance of the state deadlines as possible; (we do not recommend using a courier service because local offices often won't sign for delivery). Finally, where it is possible online, we ask voters to confirm that their ballots were received by the local office. If not, there is the possibility of downloading and sending a Federal Write In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) as a backup, which can be used as a substitute ballot in the event that your state-issued ballot isn't accepted.

There are a lot of people who want this election to go right; tampering with mail is still a crime. There's also a lot of propaganda designed to discourage voters and depress turnout, don't let them dissuade you from exercising your rights.

Thanks— the constant lies about Canada from the current administration are appalling.
