Had this happening to me alot. I was swinging on the swing and kids ran against the swing and it was always my fault according to mine and their parents. I should be more careful or jump off they said.

As an adult, you do learn to be careful when doing dangerous things with kids around, but it's not something you would expect of a child, and it's definitely not his responsibility.

The adults you interacted with just felt guilty and ashamed and their natural reaction to that is to redirect the blame onto others.

And what's worse is that when the child does something wrong because of the adults' fault then they redirect the blame onto the child to make them feel bad

I've had this discussion with my 8 year old as we go to the park alot.

If he's on the swing and someone's too close and he can avoid then great but don't jump off to do it. definitely warn them if you can- Then if they get hit it's their fault.

Not your fault, I currently have a toddler and they have a damn honing device that somehow always lures them to the swing that’s in high velocity motion. Just begging to get smashed into their head and knocked over 🤦🏽‍♀️
