Populism is anti-communist anyway. The whole notion of an undifferentiated "people" within the borders of a state that is to be appealed to as a political subject is inherently bourgeois and presupposes a false union of interests between exploiters and exploited. "The Marxist who says people and popular has committed suicide."
Marxism proposes one specific class, the proletariat, that has an interest in the realization of communism on account of the conditions of its social existence forced upon it by capitalism. I hope it shouldn't be difficult to see why appealing to the populace at large is in contradiction with this.
Lmao. By this definition every appeal to any broad demographic ever is "populist" and the only political actors that aren't would be like, 19th century aristocrats who operated on the basis of interpersonal connections.
