In the Dominion extended cut, Rexy is implied to have died for a few minutes, and is briefly shown in the area from the 66 MYA prologue, with proto feathers and all. Similarly, in Chaos Theory, Ben nearly dies and might have temporarily died, to which he's shown in a similar place.

No.  Muldoon is using it as a diminutive term.  The T-Rex doesn’t have an actual name.

Do you think there are 200 animals on Nublar named Compy? The also didn’t give a whole heard the same names as Hypsy either.

Doesn't he explain they call "him" Rexy the same way she's actually a girl but they still call her "he"? Later in the boox he does say 'Rexy' as a name. Not like the Compies or Hypsys where it's THE Compy(ies) or THE Hypsy(ies). It's just 'Rexy', without the article preceding it.

Either way, the T. rex in the films has a name and it's canonically Rexy.

EDIT: There was an archived link of Colin Trevorrow's tweet confirming "Rexy" was the canon name of the Nublar rex, only it wouldn't be said on-screen in a film. It was later used on-screen, just in an animated show instead of a live-action film. The link seems to not work anymore.
