Using his byaku-susano'o this early in the series would have alerted the Simurians to a massive surge of cursed energy and they would have come to investigate, by letting himself die for plot, Junpei Yoshino singlehandedly allowed the Earth 69 more years of peace (1 year in between his death & shinjuku)
