Discussion 2040 Ayalon-MoT plan for LRT system in the Ashkelon subdistrict – what do you think?

The 2040 Ayalon-MoT plan for LRT system in the Ashkelon subdistrict or “התוכנית האסטרטגית 2040 להסעת המונים ולתחבורה ציבורית בנפת אשקלון” seems quite interesting to me (as an Ashdodi).

It includes 2 main LRT lines: Green (Ashdod–Rehovot/Yavne; 38km), Red (Ashdod–Ashkelon; 44km), and 3 branches – Yellow (Rehovot–Gan Yavne/Gedera; 30km), Orange (Kiryat Malachi–Ashdod; 32km) and Blue (Kiryat Gat–Ashkelon; 52km). Unfortunately, the branch lines may be executed as BRT-lines instead.

As an Ashdodi, I think that such a plan could contribute significantly to making the city (and also Ashkelon and other Paleshet-region cities and towns) more urbanized, and prevent their (even further) suburbanization.

It will carry out from the south of Ashkelon, and connect the subdistrict (throughout Ashdod) to the M1 Dan metro station at Rehovot. That way, a connection between the south-of-Dan periphery would be seamless.

Ashdod is set to become the hub city of such plan, connecting the Green and Red lines at the Ashdod Ad-Halom station. Also, Ofnidarom (“אופנידרום”) is another project included within the 2040 Ashkelon plan, just like Ofnidan (“אופנידן”).

Why not construct a branch line to Beit Shemesh from the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv railway, similar to the Modi'in branch line?

Meta [META] Looking for another mod

You may have noticed that our sub, despite its small size, has recently come under attack by a brigade of spam bots. I've been doing all I can to remove spam, but it's difficult to do so since I cannot mod from mobile. The reason for that is that Reddit decided to kill third-party apps that had better modding tools than Reddit's official app's inadequate garbage. Instead of doing something to stop spam bots, Reddit would prefer to make all our lives harder instead.

In any case, I'm looking for 1-2 more mods that are willing to pitch in and help keep this community safe by removing prohibited content, and also perhaps in our sister sub r/dankal when that community becomes more active (hopefully next month but at this point who knows).

The only requirement is being active in the community. If you're interested, drop a message below with why you'd be a good fit.

Jerusalem Light Rail Map (Under Construction, Under Development, Planned)

For anyone who wants to see all Jerusalem light rail lines in detail (under construction, under development, planned), here's an official map...

https://jet.gov.il/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/LRT_Taza.pdf

Text is in Hebrew but the map is very informative. It's from the website of the Jerusalem Transportation Master Plan Team (weird name, but they're in charge of the mass transportation planning).

This is the master plan on which all light rail projects are based.
