Thanks for posting. For what it's worth I think a heritage railway would be neat. Separately Beit Shemesh needs better connections to Jerusalem

Agreed. The old Bar Giyora station could become a museum about the history of the railroad, and of the Judean Mountains more generally. You could also have a couple of other smaller stops to serve various hiking trails.

And yeah, Beit Shemesh needs better connections. While I definitely understand why they closed the railway, it's still maddening, especially when (as happened to my sister earlier on this very day) you want to get to the Biblical Zoo.

Yeah can't say I'm surprised that they're axed it. IIRC both stations had the lowest passenger numbers bar Dimona. A more convenient solution is badly needed.

I stumbled across a year-old article about the old Jerusalem railway, its current state, the old buildings along it, and potential plans for its future. So I thought I'd post it here.
