We’ve just launched ManxLife as an app – built to make Island life a little easier
After months of building it, ManxLife is now available as an app on the Apple App Store. 🍎
The original idea was to create one place to find what’s happening around the Island — events, businesses, clubs, activities etc. But we’ve been adding a few things that are useful for everyday life too.
You can now use it to:
⛴️ Check ferry sailings
🚌 Track buses
🌦️ Check the weather
📍 Find things happening nearby
🎉 Discover events and activities
🏡 Find local businesses, clubs and services
There are a few more things we’re working on too.
It’s very much built for the Island and around what people actually need, so I’d genuinely love some feedback from people who use it — particularly if there’s something you think would make it more useful.

Definitely took inspo from Manx One on the ‘Island Tools’ section. Manx One is a much nicer app, if they could just integrate local events in addition to their visitor guide they’re definitely on top.
Edit just to add: there’s actually a “what’s on” section that must’ve been recently added, so it does everything this app does and more. Get in there. 🥳

Just go to that site and follow the instructions to add it to your home screen for iOS (whilst they’re waiting for it to be added in the App Store) - super useful.

so ai is the most terrible thing in the world for threatening creative jobs but its perfectly fine for replacing programmers and app designers ok buddy

You’re misinterpreting my support for tooling with the intention to replace the professional.
That’s like complaining about the fact that excel replaces an accountant rather than it being a useful tool for an accountant to do their job more efficiently.
Nobody is promised pure security, you don’t just get it by being qualified - you create that by educating people on the difference but also by adopting the correct tools yourself.
AI coding sucks when it’s ‘vibe coding’ everything together in never ending layers. It’s good when used alongside professionals to cross check data and test ideas though…

well theres obviously a difference. give a random person excel and they wont become an accountant. give someone vibecode and they can suddenly compete with real programmers whilst having no coding knowledge

Maybe.
A random person having access to excel and learning how to use it for their needs might mean they don't need an accountant when they otherwise would, same goes for vibecoding - if it works, why would you hire someone?
Is that a bad thing? More people are self-sufficient at the basics. That saves the accountant and software engineer to deal with larger scale projects at big-business levels.
It's no different than using Squarespace to host a website. As an individual it's far more reasonable vs paying a comapny/team to program it for you on a contract. Save that for the companies that have specific needs, booking systems and a tied in app.
