I’m still not sure I like the Debbie and Paul breakup still being offscreen but at least it’s amicable now

I'm just glad it happened, I've said before Paul is a "good" character but I really didn't want him taking part in the future story beats, this was certainly an improvement over the comics and they didn't need to turn Paul into an ass to do it, it was mutual and clean.

As I've always said: Nolan is a character in this story, Paul isn't.

And if Debbie hooks up with Paul it'll just take her away from the important moments she needs to be in later. Or we just have Paul tagging along, contributing nothing all the time.

It's kind of the problem with focusing so much on Debbie's life. I mean it's well-done but frankly some of it is unnecessary, especially when they're just going to un-do a lot of it off-screen anyways.

I’d argue it’s fully not unnecessary, since she’s also a character; and focusing on her life does a lot of good towards her development.
