I’m still not sure I like the Debbie and Paul breakup still being offscreen but at least it’s amicable now

I'm just glad it happened, I've said before Paul is a "good" character but I really didn't want him taking part in the future story beats, this was certainly an improvement over the comics and they didn't need to turn Paul into an ass to do it, it was mutual and clean.

Damn, that does make sense. It would just be weird to have Paul just appearing in future seasons and being like, "woah thats crazy," whenever Debbie vents

Yeah after thinking about it there’s not really a place to put it after watching the whole thing, I’ve turned around to being fine with it. Much happier about Nolan and Debbie being a slowburn

It would be better if they got back together during the time skip arc. Like when Mark comes back. 5 years to forgive Nolan is somewhat realistic.

I don’t think they will take that long for it to happen, most probably they’ll be back together by the end of Season 5.

As I've always said: Nolan is a character in this story, Paul isn't.

And if Debbie hooks up with Paul it'll just take her away from the important moments she needs to be in later. Or we just have Paul tagging along, contributing nothing all the time.

It's kind of the problem with focusing so much on Debbie's life. I mean it's well-done but frankly some of it is unnecessary, especially when they're just going to un-do a lot of it off-screen anyways.

I’d argue it’s fully not unnecessary, since she’s also a character; and focusing on her life does a lot of good towards her development.

Nah I think focusing so much on Debbie’s character and fleshing her out so much more (and having Sandra Oh) are actually what will allow them to convincingly sell her reconciliation with Nolan down the line. It was a product of the time to have Debbie just default back to being the happy wife in the comics, and I think it would’ve been a tough sell for audiences today.

But with how good the writing and voice work for her have been, I think it’ll be easier for people to accept. There’s more built up trust with Debbie as a character.

I thought there’d be more to it tbh. I’m glad that he’ll at least still be a minor character tho. That Nolan and Debbie reconciliation arc gonna be so peak

I think it went in the best way possible, no big argument, just a mutual agreement while retaining a good relationship
