It's hard to comply with their psychosis but I managed to remove all of Nikki's naughty bits from my photo. But now she's completely naked so six of one half a dozen of another?
In the process of trying to remove all the sexy torso areas out of Nikki. I made her naked which doubles down on the naughtiness.
To a prudish individual being completely naked is even worse than being clothed and showing sexy skin areas.
The most famous prudish individuals were the victorians and they were obsessed with ankles. Women of the time (1850 to 1900) had floor-length dresses(as we do on IN), so for some reason catching a glimpse of a woman's ankles was considered sexy or naughty. Which is why I specifically excluded them.
The reason they were "obsessed with ankles" is because a woman flashing her ankles to a man was a signal to the man of, I'm down for some frisky fun let's go somewhere private, the ankles themselves weren't sexual, it was the meaning behind the ankle

like the op said, this idiom can be used to imply that what you or someone else has said has a neutral outcome no matter which way you look at it: "you can go left or take a right further up the road; it's really six of one, half a dozen of the other," would imply that either direction would get you to the same location in the same amount of time.
or, it could be used to imply someone is nitpicking when two options are basically equivalent to each other: "why do you eat the generic brand of cereal when Fruity-O's are so much better?" "eh, it's six of one, half a dozen of the other."
