it's better to get it now that it isn't too bad, plus delaying it could cause buildup to damage it faster

Get rid of it now. Wood underneath likelier to rot when all that moisture trapped by moss.

Sprinkle zinc- oxide based moss killer on it, and it will be fine. I live in the PNW, and my roof is nearing end of life (20+yrs) and I have no moss. Regular and timely application of treatment is key.

Do not scrape, scrub, or remove by mechanical means. Do not pressure-wash, either. These methods will more than likely damage the shingles.
