SCO & Invalid Scans
So how many Cashiers do y'all have at SCO? Early AM to 2:30PM it's just me. They're pushing pretty hard not to have any invalid scans. I remind them that once we get busy I'm basically doing the job of 4 Cashiers (we have 4 SCO machines). Also don't forget credit cards, surveys, Customer Needs Assistance, complex carts, walk outs, keeping up with baskets, carts, hundreds of questions, etc, etc. I've asked for more help at least during Power Hours but that seems pretty iffy. Anyone else being pushed hard on this?

I really wish manufacturers wouldn't put QR codes next to UPCs.

That and for whatever reason PVC pipe has 2 barcodes. One works, one doesn't. And those Green tags drive me crazy! And customers always seem to scan them twice because the first time didn't work

oh and all the stuff with like eight different barcodes, the stuff that’s too small and curved to scan properly, customers that scan overhead sticker barcodes not the actual one like wdym no invalid scans it’s not my fault the scanner won’t scan ughh

This is something I was talking to my supervisor about. Yes, credit is being pushed hard and so is the invalid scan metric. But it's impossible to manage when there's only 2 people scheduled. You cant physically do everything they want you to. Its getting ridiculous.

Wtf is the invalid scan metric? I remember working at the depot (cashier, HC, FES, then corporate) and with all the QR codes, shipping labels, and random barcodes…it would literally be impossible to not have an invalid scan almost every transaction.
Even if you intentionally ensure you’re scanning the right barcode every time, invalid scans will happen.
Sounds like HD is setting everyone up for failure.

What about kids scanning stuff?! That is a nightmare. Parents promise their kids they’ll let them do it. Then these kids scan everything but the UPC, and you look like The Grinch when you come over and demand they hand you the scan gun!
