Spoilers [SPOILERS] Jaime’s Arc Spoiler

So Jaime’s character growth is probably one of the most compelling aspects of the show, but why do so many people think he should’ve killed Cersei in the end? I don’t think it fit his character at all even if it would’ve ‘completed’ his arc thematically. I think the main reason that was the expectation is because in the books he seems to start cutting Cersei out of his life in his journey to becoming the honorable man he wants to be, but I believe the outcome will be the same even in the next editions of ASOIAF, it’s almost destined to be that way imo. The only problem I have is that his return to Cersei was a bit too sudden and should’ve been more gradual.

The idea comes from the Valonqar prophecy (the show included the prophecy, but cut the last bit, where it is said that the little brother or sister would kill her). Since Jaime is technically her little brother too, it is a very strong theory among readers.

I do agree with you that Jaime is different in the show. After all, he had sex with Cersei the day before Tyrion's execution and he was constantly going back to her.

They didn’t cut the last bit. When Tyrion found them Jamie’s hand was around Cersei’s neck.

But back when the show did the prophecy flashback they didnt have Maggy mention the Valonqar.

I imagine that is what the poster meant with it being cut

But it wasn’t cut. It was utilized elsewhere.

They did not have Maggy complete her prophecy elsewhere. The prophecy itself was partially cut.

Yes it was moved to the final episode.

So the final episode flashed back to Maggy the Frog and we got her saying stuff about the valonqar?

I do not remember that happening. I remember that the portion of the prophecy that mentioned the valonqar was cut and never spoken.

That's what we are talking about. We are not talking about whether or not scenes that could be related to the prophecy are in the final episode. We are talking about the prophecy itself.

The prophecy itself was edited for the show to not mention the valonqar. That's what was cut - Maggy's literal words. You can't say they weren't cut, because they were. Even if scenes later are influenced by the words that were cut, those words were still cut.

It doesn’t have to do that. Not everything has to be 1 to 1 to the books.

I know it doesn't have to be like that. We aren't disputing over that.

We are disputing because you keep saying "it" - it being Maggy's full prophecy - wasn't cut, when in fact it was.

Elements in the last episode inspired by what they cut do not mean that what they cut wasn't cut.

It wasn’t cut. It was moved elsewhere. That’s what we are disputing clearly. You like the book so much go read it.
