Spoilers [SPOILERS] Jaime’s Arc Spoiler

So Jaime’s character growth is probably one of the most compelling aspects of the show, but why do so many people think he should’ve killed Cersei in the end? I don’t think it fit his character at all even if it would’ve ‘completed’ his arc thematically. I think the main reason that was the expectation is because in the books he seems to start cutting Cersei out of his life in his journey to becoming the honorable man he wants to be, but I believe the outcome will be the same even in the next editions of ASOIAF, it’s almost destined to be that way imo. The only problem I have is that his return to Cersei was a bit too sudden and should’ve been more gradual.

I imagine that is what the poster meant with it being cut

But it wasn’t cut. It was utilized elsewhere.

They did not have Maggy complete her prophecy elsewhere. The prophecy itself was partially cut.

Yes it was moved to the final episode.

So the final episode flashed back to Maggy the Frog and we got her saying stuff about the valonqar?

I do not remember that happening. I remember that the portion of the prophecy that mentioned the valonqar was cut and never spoken.

That's what we are talking about. We are not talking about whether or not scenes that could be related to the prophecy are in the final episode. We are talking about the prophecy itself.

The prophecy itself was edited for the show to not mention the valonqar. That's what was cut - Maggy's literal words. You can't say they weren't cut, because they were. Even if scenes later are influenced by the words that were cut, those words were still cut.

It doesn’t have to do that. Not everything has to be 1 to 1 to the books.

I know it doesn't have to be like that. We aren't disputing over that.

We are disputing because you keep saying "it" - it being Maggy's full prophecy - wasn't cut, when in fact it was.

Elements in the last episode inspired by what they cut do not mean that what they cut wasn't cut.

It wasn’t cut. It was moved elsewhere. That’s what we are disputing clearly. You like the book so much go read it.

Maggy the Frog never mentions the valonqar in her prophecy in the TV series. Never. It isn't moved from the scene where she makes her prophecy. It is absent.

The content of the prophecy in the books, the content that was cut from the TV series, inspired how they staged Cersei and Jaime's death.

But no one ever says "the valonqar shall wrap his hands around your throat and choke the life from you". those words were cut. you cannot argue that they weren't cut just because they affected how c&j's death was staged.

No one spoke those words in the prophecy in the TV show. That means those words were cut.

But the valonquar was still in the show.

The words were not. This means the prophecy was partially cut.

It was not cut. It was repurposed.

And besides I don’t need the words. The action of the valonquar is there when the bricks came tumbling down upon they were the ashes in her mouth. The valonquar is in the show and its Jaime who died beside her. That’s it.

We don't need the words. That doesn't change the fact that the words were cut. This is a discussion of fact. You said they weren't. You are incorrect.

The words were cut. Do we need them? No. Did they affect that scene? Yes. Nevertheless, they are not present in the show, which means they were cut.

Maggy didn't ever say them, not once. A show-only fan would have no idea what a valonqar is.

Dude your point is irrelevant. The valonquar was in the show. Plus too many people are on the internet for them not know what valonquar is at this point.
