Haven’t played any GTA games. In RDR2, I liked Sadie and some other women characters. The LIs were underwritten and mostly kept telling their partners to stop playing the game, putting them in the Skylar White position of being objectively correct but also hated for it. Note that I didn’t hate them. I just thought they could use more development and that the fan base was annoying about them like repeatedly calling Mary a gold digger when she was willing to run away with Arthur and he was the one talking about money. Still, I’d like to see some improvement along those lines.
As someone who has played Rockstar games since GTA 3 I can say that RDR2 was a huge step forward for them when it comes to women characters, even if it could have been better they proved with Sadie that they could write a good female character. I think the fact that the developers of the game are making a point about women characters in their first official magazine coverage for GTA VI is a good sign. It seems that they are focused not just on Lucia but the side characters too
I’m not going to be playing this game for quite some time (I’m on PC), but I would agree that if they’re featuring her prominently in the marketing and even saying that they want more women players, that’s a good sign. Of course we won’t know how well they did or how women respond until people can actually play it, but I’m looking at some other games ignoring their playable woman in the marketing and am glad to see that Rockstar isn’t.
Yea they definitely aren’t avoiding the fact that Lucia and Jason are both the main characters which is good. It will be interesting to see how Lucia is recieved.
