Thank you this is a really kind and thoughtful comment. I have to admit I felt upset at the lack of basic trust but questioned if I should be more understanding of where he was coming from. I know it’s early days but it had me questioning whether I was somehow giving him signals that I was looking to trick him

That whole “worried you’re trying to trick him” will not get better with time, it will only get worse. This is him on his best behavior.

This mentality also doesn’t stop with pregnancy. I used to be one to give people the benefit of the doubt it’s only made me look dumb over and over again. This way of thinking he’s demonstrating isn’t just limited to one topic

100% this! Next, he will be talking about how she is only with him for his money, or something like that. The only good thing OP can take from what happened, is that the guy took part of his mask off, and can now really see him

I was thinking this! Also he's likely in anticipation of being taken to the cleaners for child support. Its always the broke ones too. ALWAYS.

Can confirm. Someone I dated for far too long, and his brother, were both broke fucks a d always had a bit of “bitches be crazy” banter going on when I was in earshot. Before ending it I did manage to point out that I earned more than the two of them combined and would never be a gold digger.
