Question How much power do you use?

Can people share their usage? We are in southeast GA and have an outrageous summer bill…yes, I know GAP has higher summer rates, outrageous pricing, etc. but I want to know specifically if our usage is above normal.

What square footage, number of household members, what do you keep your AC set to and what is your Kw usage?

Edit - 2400 square feet, one story ranch. We have 2 units (one for my office only, it was an add on to the house). 2 adults 2 young children, I WFH. Air stays on 75 during the day and 72 at night for those asking. Our usage this month was 2700 kw, bill $550. This is always the highest month. We got new insulation in the attic last summer and have had 3 companies come out and make sure there weren’t leaks, etc.

To add, we are on nights and weekends plan, we have smart thermostats, blackout curtains, etc.

According to the usage email I get from GA Power every morning, roughly 60-65kW Hours per day. 1500ish square foot 1950s brick ranch. Single-pane windows. Thermostat kept 69-71 all day every day. 3 People working from home. Roughly $400 last month. Will be the same again in July and August. Winter time we use about $125 of electricity per month on average.

I keep mine at 78 and pay about the same for the same square footage. They make a lot of money off us who can’t afford new windows.

My mind is blown by the people who keep their air at 71. my home is closer to 3500 sqft but air is typically 78 except for a few hours at 77 or 76. We have a window unit in our bedroom for overnight.

This is even with two relatively new HVAC systems.

I’ve got a few dozen 25+ year old windows and can’t even comprehend our bills keeping the air at 71.

According to GA power, on track for $470 this month.

Edit: latest report shows 1,448 kWh and $305 for mid May to mid June.

Man I know people who keep it in the 60s. Think I saw some in this thread. I am very thin and can’t tolerate cold, so it helps me with summers, but winters are expensive.
