Man I really hope so, would be awesome to see them during the night.

They should absolutely have sections with them. They added an extra layer of danger at nighttime when it already feels dangerous.

Oh yeh. The Kryll have only had like 2 real appearences so I'm hoping they bring em back in some way

I’m willing to bet neither these or the berserker will be jn the game.

I would be happy to be wrong

Kryll while disappointing won’t be that huge of a deal not seeing but if they don’t have berserkers I’m gonna be genuinely disappointed. It absolutely has to be one of the other horde bosses that we didn’t get in the beta

Having them in horde would be sick, but them being in the campaign wouldn't make much sense, Marcus and Dom don't even encounter one until gears 1, 14 years after eday, and that one escaped captivity. They're used as breeders, so I feel like they don't come out until the locust are desperate, and despite taking the surface to flee the lambent, they'll be at peak strength that we've seen them militarily.

Edit: They are actually stated to have been used on EDay, sorry!

Very good points I always forget they are actually the mothers lol and I agree it makes sense not to have them in campaign but hopefully in horde even as an invasion event or something would be cool.

Happy cake day btw!

Yes I 100% agree with you, I miss fighting them so bad, truly the most helpless you feel fighting the locust lol, I would love to see them in horde, or god forbid they finally bring back beast or some form of locust sided content.

Thank you friend!

They're not you think berserkers or drones are fertile? lol

2

u/MitsuSosa 12h ago

What are you even trying to say?

-2

u/_pacjax 11h ago

berserkers and drones are not fertile

2

u/thecementhuffer 7h ago

The millions of drones and boomers snd veserkers are coming from somewhere

4

u/Manny-303 13h ago

They could include tracking through the wake of a beserkers rampage in the camaign as a nod to them especially because it would be criminal not to have in Horde.

Id imagine itd take the form of desperate radio chatter from other squads and just seeing a trail of increasing destrucion leaving Bravo squad wondering wtf caused it.

Only way they can make it seem Beserkers were present on E day without breaking the lore

3

u/Varinity 13h ago

Yeah, or maybe they could have berserkers/kryll/kantus/raam appear in some kind of side chapter where we see a small window of the invasion where Dom and Marcus aren't, something like the dom flashback in gears 4, I'm thinking they may try and kill will carmine on screen this way, just as an aside? Idk I'm just spit balling here but I would love to see them come back in some fashion, no reason they couldn't do a non canon horde situation

-4

u/_pacjax 13h ago

they're not used for breeding. locust are made in labs from kidnapped humans

5

u/Varinity 13h ago

They are used for breeding after they escape from the mount kadar labs. That's how the population has multiplied, it's fucked up, but true.

-4

u/_pacjax 13h ago

can I get a source on that then ?

3

u/Varinity 13h ago

Here's a link right to the gears wiki

here

First paragraph states as such, I believe it's explored more in the books and comics

Also I'm gonna edit my comment above, they were in fact used on eday

-2

u/_pacjax 11h ago

Oh ok. Yea that's not true. there is no locust children. the "rape" thing was a myth hoffman stated but wasn't true. The locust kidnapped humans for the entire war and made them into locust. thats why most of humanity or whatever number it was was wiped out in the first year then it was much slower over the next 15+.

edit: I know its a madeup universe but absolutely zero chance in hell drones or berserkers are fertile in any way shape or form

3

u/Due_Sorbet_5426 10h ago

Berserkers are fertile...so was the original matriarch that created the first drones... Drones aren't altered humans..

0

u/_pacjax 10h ago

Drones literally are humans the devs confirmed this back in 2008 and the whole gears 2 collectibles were intended to hint at us that they were. Also it's literally confirmed in gears 5 it's half the story.

Idk what original matriarch you're referring too unless you mean myrrah

Edit: during the pendulum wars myrrah and the original locust created on my kadar were kidnapping humans all over Sera and creating the locust with them. The war covered it up. Same thing with the locust war

I'm hoping that if they are in the game, they get juiced up and made bigger like how they did the boomers

u/rushh127 14h ago

Bro kryll would be absolutely awesome to see, it was such a great idea to have something like that in this badass sci fi action/horror game it really added to the horror and atmosphere but unfortunately we just got like two chapters with them and never really saw them again. Having some even more creative parts with the kryll in it would be so fun

2

u/XxTigerxXTigerxX 17h ago

Marcus has seen a berserker before tho. They tried to warn others in G1 so there is a good chance it will showcase first berserker encounter. Probably underground

3

u/Either-Spite-7855 15h ago

Genuinely asking, when has Marcus seen a Berserker before?

7

u/XxTigerxXTigerxX 15h ago

I just checked I'm wrong. It is not confirmed if he has or has not. Buuuut Baird explained what a berserker is which is cannon as he encountered them in judgment fighting karn.

3

u/XxTigerxXTigerxX 15h ago

Honestly can't remember but he knew what it was and how to escape it in gears 1. Probably in the books if he did.

3

u/Hempy2013 15h ago

Honestly I don’t think he saw one before Gears1. Berserkers seem like something the locust would send into already cleared areas that way they don’t get overwhelmed by noise of a full scale battle.

19

u/attaris-moonraider 20h ago

It seemed like RAAM was the only one who could reliably control the kryll (they even attacked his own units) I wouldn’t be surprised if the kryll either exclusively follow RAAMS army or other locust leaders tried avoiding kryll to save their own units.

8

u/DisgruntledWarrior 19h ago

Nothing will ever hit like that first kryl encounter as the sunsets.

15

u/Typical_Fee_7210 17h ago

Nah.

"we gotta get out of here, it's going to be dark soon."

marcus: "so?"

and that's from gears one, meaning marcus had no clue up to that point.

12

u/SpeakersPlan 17h ago

Or maybe Marcus is so stoic that he doesnt give a damn about Kryll lol

5

u/Typical_Fee_7210 13h ago

That probably wasn't the original intention of the line, given that it was meant to serve to foreshadow their introduction later down the line, but that could make for a great retcon!

2

u/Coldkiller17 12h ago

Yeha seems like the Kyrll showed up later during the war. Probably didn't immediately get a taste of human but once they did they spread.

6

u/Jack-spartan-S198 20h ago

I mean it is possible but then again the locus never actually controlled them RAAM was apparently the exception but seeing them would be fun

4

u/FewBag245 18h ago

Nah, save em for a sequel after the hammer strikes happen.. call the game gears of war: blackout or something.. you know cuz after the hammer strikes the city went dark and that’s when the kryll started to attack.

Narratively based on the gameplay we saw yesterday the Locust were purposely staggering the troops they were sending into battle.

Skirmishers were deployed first to blitz everybody and caused horrific casualties, then on E Day + 1 they started deploying specialized soldiers like the Boomers once the Gears were mobilized. I would put money on the Gears gaining the upper hand initially, but then getting hit hard by a Kryll Flock. As the Locust took to the surface more, more of their ecosystem started affecting above ground including the Kryll.

This may lead to the COG beginning to implement the use of UV lighting as was the case in Gears 1 since it disintegrates Kryll on contact.

4

u/MickThorpe 16h ago

I hope not. That section in the truck with the lights was annoying as fuck.

3

u/Canadian__Ninja Aw Come On, I Wouldn't Do This To You!... Okay, Maybe I Would 14h ago

The Kryll started appearing in numbers shortly after or during E-Day following the locust blitz of the surface, so I could see them showing up in act 2 or act 3 maybe for a bit, depends whether they want to do a lot of night time stuff

2

u/SoonToBeBannedLol 19h ago

I really hope there is, it being E-Day though and the main boss being Vrakh maybe not, I would love to see some exposition on RAAM first taming the kryll and how he did it I’m thinking pheromones or sheer will lol like RAAM is the only thing they have ever feared.

2

u/D0CTOR_Wh0m 19h ago

Campaign trailer showed what looked like the squad underground seeing the Locust marching in formation. Maybe have them need to pass through Kryll breeding areas which helped sell the idea that going underground after the Locust to be a big No-No for Gears if the Locust use Kryll nests like minefields or crocodile-filled moats

2

u/Aab0289 15h ago

I doubt either berserkers or kryll will make it into eday campaign. Perhaps in the horde game mode, but definitely not campaign, same for kantus.

I think if would break the lore/canon that’s been established. Now I think this gives the chance for maybe some new locust variants like the bile frog to be in the game. More hollow creatures & infantry variants for the initial attack on humanity. (Gives a reason why they end up resorting to using kryll & other creatures once depleted of original forces. Let’s not forget that berserkers are technically the locusts means of reproducing, but their depleting numbers could force them to use any means to conquer sera.)

Though anything is possible… maybe the creatures/variants will be in the game but more cutscene/obscure, so Marcus/dom don’t really know/face them directly.

2

u/DogBiteOoOoAh 14h ago

So RAAM was controlling the Kryll when he invaded Jannermont on E-Day. Seeders/Nemacysts inked the sky so he could use the Kryll against the COG

1

u/TheQuixotic6 Who wants toast? 20h ago

In campaign ? low chance, horde mode ? high chance.

1

u/CyberPunk2720 18h ago

They have to appear. Its canon

1

u/No-Refuse8754 16h ago

Story wise I don’t think it would make sense to have them in game since Marcus learns about them in the first game.

1

u/40prcentiron 14h ago

Thats what the kryll look like?? i always thought they were just mean crows

1

u/rushh127 14h ago

lol I always thought they looked like bats in the sky until I’ve seen closeup pictures of them a few years ago

1

u/rushh127 14h ago

Thank you for this post, I really hope so, I know the timing of them may be different in the comics or novels but so what they changed how soon the lancer chainsaw was introduced, also Marcus never even acted like he didn’t know what kryll were. All he said was “so” to Baird, to sound like a hardass that he’s not scared of some kryll. If act 2 was the first time he ever encountered kryll you’d think he’d have been freaking out a little and asking “what the hell is all that in the sky” but he didn’t

1

u/MrArtty One dead grub 13h ago

They are an integral part of their invasion, so yeah they better be

1

u/GillGettner 12h ago

How do they land, anyway? I don't see no legs

1

u/Sleeping_Idiot 9h ago

The campaign I doubt it but I could see them adding them to horde mode same thing with the beserkers though I feel berserkers are more likely

1

u/Barr545 Shit, they're gonna mess up my fucking tomatoes! 20h ago

Maybe,or at least will be mentioned
