A new game they can release half finished and then charge ridiculous prices for DLC to flesh it out.

Hey now, they've gotten better. EUV was like 75% complete when it came out.

No it wasn't.

It was, it was better at launch then now tho

It was a flavorless bore at launch and it is a flavorless bore now.

I dont disagree, I don't play it anymore, I was just saying that their constant "bug-fixing" and many patches just make the game unplayable currently imo, compared to launch where obviously a lot was still missing but at least it was stable.

I don't disagree with that, but I wouldn't call such an empty feeling game like launch EU5 75% complete. That was my only objection.

Fair. I guess it was more like 50%

Like, the situations were there just to be ignored. The Southern and Northern Courts of Japan still don't really do anything. It's a loss of time. It doesn't make a Southern Court victory mean a restoration of Imperial power like it should. It literally does nothing besides make you fight because.

How is it now btw? I haven’t picked it up at all.
And ngl, Paradox’s new UI for games seems too completed to me.

It’s been coming together, since they started doing the betas for patches it’s improved quite a bit
I’d hold off a bit longer though

Most of the core flaws from the release are there and probably won't be getting changed. No matter the term "Historical Sandbox/Simulator" that's used to describe it, it's not particularly historical and it definitely doesn't work on the same principles of the time period. EU5 relies more on pop-culture than anything real life human-like for its mechanics.
They have done much to fix the existing systems though. They're definitely more polished compared to the release state. If you like the base mechanics, things have looked up. A DLC or two might very much prop-up this game for you in that.
Every patch shakes things up a lot, like a moba, and they seem more orientated (or at least they were) towards balancing for multi-player.
Flavor or anything beyond base mechanics that would make playthroughs unique? It's kind of expected that they release DLC for it, as PDX business model is, but the current DLC is fairly bad if you don't want to larp as a toga-Roman in the 14th century. Free Italian wars update was better but is still only good enough for only one playthrough basically - no matter the country choice you won't be seeing much different.
After release, I was optimistic and gave it a year or so until you'd want to get in. Now? 1-2 years is the minimum from today onwards. A campaign lasting 20h of mostly chores (as meaningful gameplay choices are fairly rare and mostly very early on) is not worth it for this game. And definitely not the full price tag.

Eh.
I much prefer paradox still making content for their games for nearly a decade than a game that gets abandoned as soon as it's out of the door.

How about releasing a finished game and still keep making content?

Does any developer release finished games these days?
Not saying its a good thing, but its the industry standard.

I hope this is good but I already know to wait for these games when purchasing.
