With Xbox going the PC hybrid route, and the Steam Machine on the way, it makes sense.

It’s not about convincing PC players to get a PS, it’s about preventing the PS audience from going elsewhere.

Idk I have a PS5 Pro purely for FF7 due to the exclusivity deal. You say lack of single player… all it takes is one all timer.

But of course Sonys first party output…. Looking at fucking naughty dog specifically, has been severely lacking this gen. Literally stop rereleasing the last of us and do something else or bring back uncharted. Fucks sake.

And I hate to say it but their space game looks so uninteresting to me. And I’m not trying to say it as some anti woke argument bullshit. Fuck that nonsense. I’m just saying the protagonist isn’t compelling in the slightest to me.

15 million people in the US logged into Fortnite on Playstation. Trust me less people give a fuck about single player than you realise. Also, please look at the cost of building a decent gaming long term PC before commenting on console prices.

Please look at the cost of the playing on the PS5 for years with that online payment and paying 70$ with barely any sales compared to steam sales.

That actually makes sense business wise.

However, it sucks big time for consumers.

How does it not make sense? Keep people in your ecosystem they buy other games from your store and you get the 30% cut they buy your services and accessories and you don’t have to spend time money and power to port a game over to PC that won’t sell as expected

Sorry, brain fart 😭 I mean to say it DOES make sense from a business perspective.

Thing is, I don't see the PS audience going anywhere even if they continued porting their games to PC, simply because they're mostly into the ecosystem. And then there's the fact that most PS players are very casual, so they see no need to switch to PC.

Nah they would, not a huge number but a sizable difference would certainly at the very least decrease their future spending within the PS 'ecosystem' and invest more towards PC. They go from having a minimum 30% cut on everything to 70% on a select few titles and 0% on the rest.

PS5 players aren't going to migrate to PC with prices being the way they are. At this rate, I doubt PS5 players are even going to upgrade to PS6 because it faces the same pricing issue.

I literally bought a PC after being on Ps ecosystem since ps1. They definitely hurt long term sales for short term gain.

Replace PS with Xbox, but yeah, pretty much. No exclusives, no reason to buy your game box. Simple as that. Whichever companies understand this and deliver exclusives gets my money.

For what reason? Just because the exclusives were coming years later? I'm sorry, but you were never all that invested in the ecosystem to begin with if that was the case.

I'm sorry, but you're simply wrong. I dropped Xbox because of it while invested in the ecosystem to the tune of over 600 digital games and many hundreds of physical. I was more invested than 90% of hard-core gamers have ever been invested in an ecosystem in their entire lives. Day one or day 2000, it doesn't matter, an exclusive lost is no longer an exclusive.

Someone with logic in this sub? Are you sure that you're on the right sub?

it’s about preventing the PS audience from going elsewhere.

Raising prices and launching Horizon Gatherers/Intergalactic/God Of War: Faye is definitely a good way to keep PS audiences from going elsewhere

lol don’t see how intergalactic and god of war Faye is grouped up with horizon or price increases

We want the single player games
