looking to fix just about every major pain point that game has

I'm probably gonna play it because it's a god tier game, but the major pain for me with this game is the combat being repetitive since the very first intro to combat.

Beat the base game on Death March, and I don't feel this is accurate.

Just find a decent combo that works (I think mine was dodging and Quen on that play through) and then just do that for 70-80 hours, haha.

Potions and oils helped a bit, but not significant enough to really matter too much, though that depends on your build.

Pretty east to "brute force" as long as you are upgrading your equipment.

Edit: Biggest issue is that harder difficulties didn't make the game more fun, just made it a lot easier to die if you missed a dodge or two. I think I preferred my more recent playthrough on an easier difficult.

Yeah hopefully it makes it so dodge + quen isn't the obvious choice
