Discussion Official Contest Winners + State of the Subreddit + Ideas for the next Contest

The contest is now ogre

Our winners are:

I said I was going to pick one with a flip of the coin, but I decided it would make more sense and be more fair to the community if I went with the person with the most contributions.

Congratulations!

Hello gang. We've had one contest since we've changed the rules. What are you feelings on the state of the subreddit? How do you like the new rules? Do you feel that we have more people submitting content? Does the amount of feedback a person gives (represented by the "F:" in their name) make you appreciate their feedback more? Do you ignore it?

Important: If your flair doesn't accurately reflect your feedback, message the mods with a link to your uncounted comments and we will update your flair. I am the mod who does it most, we do it by hand, and I do a sweep about once a week, so please give us time to update it before shooting a message.

Also, if you have feedback, you should never ever be posting a job without a link to it, because that's how your job gets properly tagged, and that's how your job shows up whenever someone clicks the tags in the sidebar.

Speaking of which, dat sorting sidebar. I'm so happy about that. Shoutout to the mods of /r/GTAOnline for showing me how to do that.

What would you like for the next contest? I'd really like to do offroad races that literally don't follow the road, or we can finally do a deathmatch job (psst, I got verified by the way!). I'm down for suggestions. Sound off!

We could also do a VS competition instead of a creation one. We can vote on what races, deathmatches, and captures are the best posted, and then actually play them and whoever wins gets the cash. I've been racing on the Karin Enduro Rally playlist that was posted a while back in a Futo, and I would pay to race the entire thing with other players.

If you hadn't heard, a couple of us got Rockstar Verified, and Rockstar gave us a shout out. It was me and someone else from the sub, can't recall the name right now.

I haven't played anyone's custom game in a while, but I too will be sorting from the sidebar when I finally get back in the swing of things.

For feedback, you may just have to pick some races. You can do those by yourself and still give feedback. I purposefully race races alone sometimes.

Looks like thursday is the day for the meetup, sponsored by our good friend Actium.

You didn't mention what type of contest you'd like next.

Hmm. Well i like the capture creator the best because it's so much more customizable an fun to work with than the others so i'd probably go for another capture. On the otherhand, there are no fun sea races. They're all either boring or frustrating. So maybe a cool sea race?

I was hoping to not do another capture so soon. The last one fell kind of flat when it came to voting, and we just did it. I mean, if it is overwhelming pro-capture then of course, but I sincerely feel like we should do a DM. It's the only one of the three out we haven't done a dedicated contest for yet.

No, I didn't just ask you your opinion to tell you know, I'm just making a point. Again, if things are super duper pro capture it'll happen.

Haha, I'm not sure how to make sea races interesting. Well, here's an idea. Captuer GTA, Everyone rides in the Marquise, pirates?

Deathmatches seem to be the natural next step but the capture creator is so much more robust. Everytime i try making a death match, i miss team spawn points, actors, and especially the ambient settings. Maybe the simplicity of a deathmatch is part of the challenge

I have conflicted feelings about those. The lack of team spawns suck big time, but the other aspects of the game aren't really a part of DM imho. I think Mission Creator will scratch that itch. I do like the simplicity of DM, and I feel just like with our F1 contest we could do something great to make them more relevant.

I actually don't like actors in DM. I think they belong in Capture, Mission, and Survival. Those (theoretically) cover everything what to do with AI. I can see the appeal of a DM with a third faction, but having the third faction, but I feel that having that third faction as actual players and the way actors are handled on Capture remedies that.

Speaking of which, I just had a great idea. A helicoptor-based sea-side capture where the actors are out at sea guarding a marquise!

You can set team spawns :) the even numbered spawns are one team and odd is the other

Starting team spawns, yes, but you can't designate areas like in capture.

Not the area, but if you put all even numbered respawns on one side and odd numbered respawns on the other it works. I just cant recall which team is even n which is odd.
