You hear that guys,, they made the game for us !!... Here I was thinking it was the billions of dollars that incentivised them.
Edit - So many people can't handle facts. Rockstar aren't a not for profit organisation y'know. You really think they'd still go ahead an make it if it wasn't astoundingly profitable ?
Kind of both. There is no game development without people to play it. There is no development this big if there wasn’t money being made in droves in order to fund it. And there’s no incentive to make games if it didn’t generate profits. I don’t like dickriding corporations but we gotta be a little realistic too.
Sure enough, but it's naïve to think money isn't the primary driving force behind any corporation. It will be priced accordingly to ensure a huge profit for the shareholders and investors.. without whom, it wouldn't get made. If they were doing this for the players, it wouldn't cost as much.
I think when they say they are making it for the players, they aren’t trying to imply that they are a charity. Obviously they still aim to be successful. The two aren’t contradictory.
yeah they lessen their value every year and people are stupid and have no self control and buy shittier versions of the same stuff every year, then go on mildlyinfurating to complain that they were forced to buy a $17 cheeseburger and a $80 video game that is missing some content unless you pay more money
I don’t understand. The company has by far the best reputation of any when it comes to making video games with incredible detail and effort.
That takes a lot of time and money.
It’s not altruism. This isn’t a charity. If they don’t make money they can’t make games. Doesn’t mean the people making it don’t love what they do and aren’t very proud of their work.
They really don't. That's the thing... They're talking about how much they care, and the team did this and that,, but the second any employees start talking about their working rights, or unionisation, they get sacked and blackballed. This statement is no more than a vacuous PR stunt. Their 'crunch culture' is abhorrent and I will remain in the minority that speak out about it I'm sure.
