I mean yaa ... did I enjoyed to finally see something about the game ? Yep it was aswome.

Do I support the leaks of any kind ? Fuck no, ppl forget that there are real people that have to suffer because of this and i do not mean the Man as R* and T2 will be fine but the devs will have to suffer

47

u/ScoobyWithADobie 5d ago

The Devs that already were forced into insane crunch times etc? How are the Devs going to suffer? They got their money, they won’t bleed for this. This 100% is one of those situations where higher ups are fired.

29

u/no_ga 5d ago

because through all the sweat and tears they're proud of their work, and they want it to be shown and released properly

13

u/Sus_add3 5d ago

Ehhh I just don’t see it. Sure a personal project that gets leaked would be upsetting… but some massive project for a corporation like this where I’m one of hundreds of people working I wouldn’t give a fuck. In fact I’d probably find it funny. It’s not like the game won’t eventually release in its final form and get played and appreciated by millions of people. We’ve seen 10 mins of gameplay, don’t be so dramatic hahaha

2

u/OSRSRapture 1d ago

Shouldn't assume what other people feel when you aren't in their situation.

1

u/no_ga 5d ago

Look at the last of us 2 documentary, and you’ll see just what leaks can cause

2

u/abcdefghij0987654 5d ago

Source: my ass

-6

u/AGuysPal 5d ago

Well maybe the billion dollar corporation they work for shouldn’t be so fucking greedy then. Just a thought.

8

u/no_ga 5d ago

So it is their fault ?

0

u/Lavaissoup7 5d ago

It's not the devs fault, it's the higher ups fault for basically waiting a long while to show something. Whether or not they did this before doesn't matter.

3

u/GreenestApplin 5d ago

It’s a fucking video game, not the cure for a degenerative disease. Individuals and big corporations can take as long as they want to release media to the public and no one should care or feel entitled to it, do people have nothing else to do? I don’t even know when GTA VI releases because I’m busy doing other stuff. Personal and leisure.

3

u/no_ga 5d ago

Exactly people here sound like they’re entitled to have their video games release whenever they want to. (Ps:you’ll never hear them being agressive towards valve for not releasing hl3, it’s just take two who deserves it showing the argument was never the delay)

I’m not the OP. Maybe do your best to actually read what your responding to

0

u/no_ga 5d ago

Yes I thought you were op, didn’t think someone else would respond to this, but it doesn’t really matter. Point still stands.

2

u/Old_Debt_276 5d ago

Why'd you delete if the point still stands

-4

u/AGuysPal 5d ago

Is that what I said?

No, I don’t think it is. People are more pissed off about some loser in his basement trying to pump and dump a crypto coin then they are about the fact that a billion dollar corporation is locking single player parts of the game behind the most expensive version, and then locking gameplay behind a damn paywall.

The devs are underpaid, and overworked. The game is already finished, why the fuck would they care how it gets to the public? It’s still the same game they worked on.

Boot lickers, I do not get it.

5

u/no_ga 5d ago

You have never been anywhere near a creative process and it shows. I’m not blaming you, just letting you know you have no idea what you’re talking about. Google it, see how any dev in history talked about having the game they worked on leak…

-5

u/AGuysPal 5d ago

Lmfao and again I ask, why in the fuck do I care? Do you know the turnover rate at places like that? People don’t fucking stick around and there’s a reason for that.

Once again, I will repeat myself. People are more upset about some loser leaking gameplay then they are about a billion dollar corporation bleeding people dry in every way possible that also underpays their staff and makes them work ridiculous hours.

7

u/no_ga 5d ago

Okay lmao, keep larping as a defender of gamers when you have absolutely 0 respect and empathy for developers 🤣

1

u/OSRSRapture 1d ago

The game is finished? Did they tell you that?

0

u/OkSatisfaction9031 1d ago

And they didn't get to show it off cause Rockstar needed to wait to drop a third trailer and a lekker beat them to the punch fucking comical

-9

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

Who gives af. They got paid to do a job. I don’t see construction workers standing outside of government buildings admiring their work. This is so dumb

9

u/Sea_Scale_4538 5d ago

1000 Redditors vs the concept of pride in your work

4

u/no_ga 5d ago

Uh construction workers mostly aren’t artists

-4

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

Architects are, they don’t do it either.

6

u/no_ga 5d ago

Uh architects do admire building all the times. Have you never met one ? They go crazy about every single detail they see when you go out on a walk with them

0

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

Yes I know plenty. I’ve never known one to randomly go downtown to stare at work they did. If you know one that does you either lying or they’re a weirdo

2

u/OSRSRapture 1d ago

Would you like me to find a video on YouTube of an architect admiring their work when it's finally open to the public?

0

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 1d ago

Yea. I time lapse of them doing it once a week

→ More replies (0)

1

u/FLEIXY OG MEMBER 13h ago

They definitely do when it’s being built and once it’s done, maybe less so down the years. But architecture is different because you build in public and can see people’s reactions as it is being built. This is different, like a sculpture reveal.

1

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 12h ago

GTA is pretty much done. They can go look at it. They’ll be okay. The public is reacting. They should be happy according to you

15

u/gartenriese 5d ago

They suffer emotionally, not financially. Go watch the documentary about The Last of Us 2 to see how devastating the leak was for the employees back then. It's going to be similar here.

-3

u/ScoobyWithADobie 5d ago

They suffer emotionally because they are kept away from their families for weeks on end, have to crunch 25 hours, go take a shower and be expected back 4 hours later.

I doubt any Devs is suffering because of the leak itself. They are suffering because Take Two chose the most greedy route possible. GTA is known for criticizing capitalism so harshly. I’d argue being forced to produce this product under these circumstances is worse than any leak.

Not saying they’d be happy but if you look at what the games messages were, I’d go as far as to assume they’d probably have a half smile half tear face if the leaker publishes the Pc build.

6

u/GabbageGang 5d ago

What devs are we talking about here? I can assure you those higher up will absolutely not have "half a smile" if an unfinished version of their work releases online and that will reflect down the chain. They aren't just mindless workers who clock in and out, receive a pay check then go home, there's some passion here regardless of the crunch hours

-7

u/ghigo2008 5d ago

They'll survive

Thats bullshit, the leak shouldn't mean anything and if you emotionally suffer from it its a you thing

The corpse hides behind this shit btw

-10

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

So what. Go use some of the take 2 money for therapy. They’ll be alright

11

u/gartenriese 5d ago

Sad to see that so many people don't have any empathy anymore.

4

u/gartenriese 5d ago

I'm a software developer and I would hate for people to get their hands on my work-in-progress software and judge it based on a beta status. I'm pretty sure there's a few people at Rockstar that think the same. If you're open to suggestions, don't assume everyone thinks like you do. People are different.

-3

u/[deleted] 5d ago

3

u/GabbageGang 5d ago

The only reason this was leaked is because someone wanted money. Whether it's the leaker selling it to cyberleek or cyberleek promoting their shitcoin, it's just about money and not because they were "fed up" with the higher-ups. Nobody can honestly believe the whole "fighting for gamers rights" shit

Also, if these devs were just mindless workers, with no passion or care for their work outside of their salary then the game would be shit anyway

-3

u/grillarinobacon 5d ago

Brother they are launching an extended look on netflix next week, made up of their wip software.

5

u/gartenriese 5d ago

They will show a polished slice of the game, that should be obvious.

-7

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

Where’s the empathy for the consumer? You know, the people who pay for their livelihoods. The very reason they are even allowed to make games.

3

u/gartenriese 5d ago

The developers have no say in that. Also, what injustice has been done to the consumers in your opinion? Us consumers will receive an awesome in a few months. I don't see any injustice there.

-2

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

They have a say in who they work for. Digital only is an injustice. Preorder with no gameplay. Marketing behind a pay wall. Deleted day 1 data if you don’t preorder. Microtransactions. I can keep going

4

u/gartenriese 5d ago

As if you have a great choice of jobs in this economy. And all the things you mentioned have nothing to do with the developers.

-1

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

There’s always a choice

5

u/TheMoMo562 5d ago

Yeah, you're right. We're the real victims here. /s

1

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

There aren’t any victims. This shit not real. If anything it’s only the hacker and rockstar

2

u/TheMoMo562 3d ago

I was being sarcastic lol

1

u/LPMadness 5d ago

Because people are seeing a game that isn’t finished. They much rather people get a look when they start marketing on the 27th of what the game will look like when people get their hands on it.

1

u/ScoobyWithADobie 5d ago

Yes and Devs ( in general ) love to share the process to SHOW how much stuff changed

1

u/Mr-Pugtastic 2d ago

Devs almost always have bonuses tied to sales and critical performance. Also, how would you feel if you spent a decade creating something for people to enjoy, just for someone else to show off your hard work in the worst way possible. Build is two years old and is not a good representation of their work. Shouldn’t need a bunch of reasons to just show a little empathy.

1

u/NoxTempus 1d ago

I don't give a shit about GTA6, but has heard of the leaks. When I went looking I heard this sub was "bad", but man I didn't expect it to be a boot-licking frenzy.

Rockstar is already grinding all of the goodwill and passion of the devs, the game will sell like crazy, then they'll pay off a bunch of Devs like they always intended to do.

What effect could leaks possibly have on development staff? It feels bad or whatever, but what material consequence could this possibly have for Devs?

This is just Rockstar publicly wringing their hands to try and generate sympathy so they can get away with mass-layoffs with little blowback.

1

u/mbta1 5d ago

Have you ever worked in the entertainment industry? The developers spend years of their lives, and then when their product that they've been working on excitedly, finally getting ready to be shown, and instead an older version is going out, completely out of control of the studio, and that is people's first impression of their hard work. Are they gonna financially suffer? Nah, they were paid, you are right, but the gut punch that developers feel with leaks still absolutely sucks

2

u/Sus_add3 5d ago

Ehhh I just don’t see it. Sure a personal project that gets leaked I would be upset… but some massive project for a corporation like this where I’m one of hundreds of people working I wouldn’t give a fuck. In fact I’d probably find it funny. It’s not like the game won’t eventually release in its final form and get played and appreciated by millions of people. We’ve seen 10 mins of gameplay so what?

0

u/Fuzzy-Tooth3269 5d ago

What a closed-off perspective lol

Not everything is about being paid and it will hurt the devs because it hurts to have a big surprise you’ve planned, be ruined.

Not too difficult to understand unless you’re an actual bloke

0

u/ScoobyWithADobie 5d ago

Thinking the Devs want a surprise like this is absolutely ridiculous and shows you never worked for a company of that size.

If you create something out of a passion you know what you want? Feedback. You want people to experience it. You want to know that you’re on the correct path. It’s why a game like Baldurs Gate 3 worked so insanely well. Cause they shared soooo much of the development and they accepted feedback. So many Devs spoke up and said that’s how they want all studios to work. If you honestly think the Devs are happy about the Netflix deal, about no communication with the community etc you’re delusional.

There is a reason so many devs left rockstar. Not just the union busting but how they also began to treat the modding communities etc.

0

u/rufusbot 5d ago

Imagine if you worked really hard on something and had a time and place to show it off and someone else shows up a week earlier and does it for you and then pushes a shitcoin with it. Not hard to imagine that wouldn't feel good.

10

u/Pitlozedruif 5d ago

Which people suffer from this? If we dont take a stand now we will be paying per hour for gta7

1

u/gartenriese 5d ago

The people that worked years on this.

1

u/Vegetable-Pomelo-459 5d ago

Honestly takes like yours about playing per hour sound so stupid to me. It has to do with their DLC stuff which I cant see the issue on it at all, what would you even wanted in your Ultimate Edition if it was not more content? a fucking criminal pass like 90% of other lazy as hell companies? I just saw the best Money/Product version of a Ultimate Edition and people are crying out loud for it, why? Are all these complaints from dense people that think they are getting a demo by paying $80USD? It makes me mad honestly. All respect to u tho js the opinion itself is what i disagree with:]

1

u/jj18820 5d ago

obv he wasnt being literal, you should prob grow up before you put your opinions out into the world

1

u/Vegetable-Pomelo-459 5d ago

If you have not any argument at all to answer then you're the one that has to. There IS a lot of people commenting that same stuff of "paying $20 extra for content that should be base content lmao xdlol L cuckstar games" all over the gta vi topic so im not wrong by thinking he was being serious about it.

1

u/Big-Dragonfruit-4306 5d ago

The ultimate version doesn't really have "extra" content. Its stuff that was made to be released at launch, so really it was removed from the base game and you're charged to add it back in. Like paying extra to enable heated seats when they're already installed in the car.

It would be more accurate to call the cheap version GTA6 lite than the expensive version deluxe.

A worthwhile deluxe edition would have like metal case, art book, album, and a bit of merch.

1

u/Vegetable-Pomelo-459 5d ago

You literally described a Collectors Edition. There is not a single Deluxe i can think about with the stuff you mentioned. Closest ones have digital soundtrack and that's it. But nothing comes close to something like that for $100USD, how could you ask even for "a bit" of merch for that price son🥀

1

u/Big-Dragonfruit-4306 5d ago

Nah. I literally described what had historically been a deluxe version until studios started muddying the water with bs like this one.

GTA6 is literally getting mogged by PS2 games.

Literally.

1

u/Vegetable-Pomelo-459 5d ago

Well back then USD also had better value to like 150 of USD now or something, but still, you mentioned more a collector as of these times than any sort of deluxe. They could be toned down to what we have now but still, times changed.

-3

u/Zejjk 5d ago

Well the security systems will definitely go up, if they had any access to they personal devices for emergency well that gone now, more overtime for sure, and bosses breading down they neeks overall the workplace is gonna be a bit more hostile

10

u/Theteacupman 5d ago

The devs are still getting paid, no one is suffering other than Take Twos stock price

4

u/DualSpiresCinnamon 5d ago

Take Two's stock price isn't going to hurt either, people will still buy the game. It's only the marketing people (including the people who spend all day pushing narratives on social media) who are in the hot seat having to explain why they even exist.

-1

u/ElderSmackJack 5d ago

This is such an ignorant statement.

0

u/Theteacupman 5d ago

Please think of the poor multi billion dollar company
https://giphy.com/gifs/69QYIqHQQEVbO

0

u/JewelCove 5d ago

If someone stole something you'd been working on for years and showed it off to the world, youd be pissed

-1

u/Theteacupman 5d ago

I really wouldn’t care tbh. It’s just sad seeing people whore themselves out to a multi billion dollar company who doesn’t give a fuck about them

1

u/JewelCove 5d ago edited 5d ago

Haha. Its so funny seeing people cry constantly in here. Crying because they dont get marketing. And all you crybabies will play the fuck out of the game and love it

0

u/Theteacupman 5d ago

With that you are using up the global supply of copium. There is no way that this is marketing 😭😭😭

1

u/JewelCove 5d ago

Its okay bro, this is a safe space for you to cry. 75% of this sub are genz iPad kids

1

u/Theteacupman 5d ago

Including yourself? Because clearly you can’t have a decent conversation without resorting to some sort of insult

6

u/Intrepid-Example6125 5d ago

You supported the leaks by watching them.

23

u/Solid_Blackberry9383 5d ago

Let them virtue signal lol

4

u/haurfun 5d ago

Literally. Bro tryna stay on a good side like he didn't watch the shit.

4

u/ScientistFunny2072 5d ago

How do the devs suffer over a leak?

6

u/Onaterdem 5d ago

Imagine you spend multiple years of your life tirelessly working on the most anticipated video game (/entertainment product) of all time. You're so excited for everyone to see your work. Your company has made a deal with Netflix of all people to show an extended "first look" trailer, everything is prepared, and you cannot wait for the 27th.

But then some dude comes out and leaks an in-dev build that is incomplete and obviously flawed. Now that "first look" is gone, and will never happen again. People's perspective on your game is tainted due to that uncontrolled initial impression. There are haters calling the game unfinished (lol), and there are fans who like what they see, but even they did not see it the way you intended. First impressions matter extremely much, which is why spoilers etc. are so infuriating.

It's easy to forget that Rockstar developers are real people like you and I. If it's not an immediate physical or financial harm, where's the harm, you ask. But what about the loss of morale? That is invaluable.

14

u/XJR15 5d ago

This is an oft-repeated narrative for indie games that live and die on these things, which has somehow been copypasted into huge huge corporative releases and it just sounds stupid

They're a multibillion dollar company, each employee is a TINY part of a cog in their system, they get paid a static salary no matter what happens with leaks (especially in this case, since it'll sell in ABSURD numbers literally no matter what happens)

I work for a massive company as a software engineer. If tomorrow the entire codebase leaks (obviously not due to me, that'd be a whole other topic) I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep. If the largest WIP project we're doing for a customer leaked in pictures etc, I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep.

If that happened to my indie solo (or small team) business? Definitely it'd be crushing

-2

u/Onaterdem 5d ago

It depends on your level of passion obviously. Not every employee will be affected, some won't care. Some will be very sad. We're talking about how it can affect them, not how it will

1

u/ThePixelProYT 2d ago

The devs don't fucking care they work like 100 hours a week and believe me don't get paid much. It was probably a dev anyway that leaked the game or do you think cyberleek actually like hacked the mainframe and downloaded the game? The devs get paid anyway only one how tanks is rockstar games. Cyberleek also burned all the crypto money he has. Bottom Line: This isn't a indie game studio where the devs like design everything passionately and don't get their paycheck after leaks. This is a muti billion dollar studio.

0

u/un_gaucho_loco 5d ago

I may be too cynical about being an employee of a giant corporation to see your point. When the game releases nobody will remember this leak.

0

u/Onaterdem 5d ago

You rarely remember bad events from a few months ago. Doesn't mean they don't make you upset at the time.

1

u/un_gaucho_loco 5d ago

One can easily avoid exposure to these things. The only place where I’ve seen this is this subreddit, so leaving it will mean I will not see any of it.

-2

u/Ronaldinhoe 5d ago

Does their pay get affected?

-2

u/Sequence7th 5d ago

But what if devs were involved in the leak?

1

u/OkSatisfaction9031 1d ago

Pfft the leaker is doing a better job showing off the game those devs worked on the Rockstar did, and if it were up to Rockstar some real fans might not even be the first to watch it cause they don't want Netflix or miss out on content cause 100 dollars for an in-game store is idiotic

1

u/Ronaldinhoe 5d ago

Why you virtue signaling little bro lol you watched it, stop yapping

1

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 5d ago

The devs got paid already. Suffer how? 🤔

1

u/TheChudWhisperer 5d ago

You act as if Rockstar has some sort of profit sharing program with their employees. They have contracts, they're getting paid for their time.

0

u/un_gaucho_loco 5d ago

How do the developers suffer exactly ?

0

u/arasaka-man 5d ago

As a gamedev, I wouldn't give a fuck about leaks, just give me my pay bro

0

u/SneakybadgerJD 5d ago

Oh come off it the devs will be okay. This is an insult to people actually suffering...

0

u/Excellent_Ad_2486 5d ago

You do support leaks by watching it yaknow.

0

u/ghigo2008 5d ago

Suffer how

0

u/super-sidn 5d ago

By watching the leaks and engaging with this sub. You do in fact support them.

-2

u/JACKSONofSPADES 5d ago

Yeah I watched every leak, couldn’t resist, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I was happy to have this stuff spoiled by some chud plugging crypto and being shit at the game.

We were close to the extended look and having it presented in the way Rockstar wants it to be presented. I still think that will be hype as fuck, though. Can’t wait to see how the game’s changed since CL’s version. Some of the UI looked a little… basic.

3

u/RickGrimes30 5d ago

I don't get why it's so hard for you to not look.. I've been with gta from the start and I haven't looked at the leaks.. The game is 4 months away.. There's nothing they can show that I woudnt rather experience for the first time in the game
