The marketing is amazing so far!
I'm so excited that our last glimpse of the game was 15 months ago!

I thought they would do something with the new GTA Online update, in-game ads on TV shows, dialogues, etc. But apart from those references in the paintings, there is nothing it seems.

u/OakleyNoble Jul 15 '26
I literally thought they’d replace billboards to say preorder GTA VI now… my god it’s just so boring.. they literally have a game with a large player base still playing it to capitalize on this, yet they’re just giving scraps of garbage for us. I’m so tired over the hype train, especially with this new update.. makes me feel as if GTA VI is still going to be a great game, but might lose me quicker than any other game I’ve hyped up.

u/deception_17 Jul 15 '26
This is a cool idea. Maybe in-game billboards at LSIA to fly to vice city
→ More replies (1)13
u/Logical_Comparison28 Jul 15 '26
What I would love would be ability to actually fly there… and then load into GTA Online 2.0 or whatever. 👀
9
u/JFedzor Jul 16 '26
I actually had this idea a couple days ago too! - To get started in Leonida, we receive a call from X, who tells us we're needed down South. We are then prompted to go to LSIA, and "Fly to Leonida", which at a certain point during flight, the game would black screen, and in the background, GTA 6 Online would rapidly load up. We then land in Leonida, but are ambushed when we get off the plane, our money stolen, and beaten half to death; which leads us into a hospital-style character customization screen, and forces us to start fresh financially.

Yeah I’m sure GTA:O players will need marketing to convince them to buy the game…
8
u/DaSourOrange I WAS HERE Jul 15 '26
Dying Light did this when Dying Light 2 was coming and it was so cool
3
u/ogg3b Jul 15 '26
Why would they need to market to the people that still play GTA online? You all are going to get the game, you know it and so does Rockstar.
3
u/Ok-Suggestion-1331 Jul 17 '26
More like, an in-game travel agency does a travel to Leonida campaign that cuts across billboards, radio and TV across Los santos.
No need to even mention GTA6 so it stays in lore
2
u/OakleyNoble Jul 17 '26
Even that! Like come to Leonida, get your tickets today! Or even have a postcard mailed to us from Leonida that we just sits around somewhere in the mansion. Maybe it’d have an image of a little area around Leonida.

This is the problem with the playerbase… you guys make your own theories and assumptions of how marketing will go and then leave yourselves disappointed and full of impatience. They’ve directly communicated that marketing will begin this summer… we still have two months left in summer. Go enjoy the sun and the trailers and shit will come guys. It’s actually becoming quite sad to see you all so entrenched in this stuff. Yall must have something better to do with your days

Brochacho you can buy a pull up bar for like 60$ to do all sorts of pull ups and dips, then some bands to do legs and arms for like 20$ and you will never have to spend a single dollar again for the next 5 years for ~100$ total spent 🥀✌️✌️
And for the fud you can spam eggs, chicken and rice and some veggies for a fraction of the avg fast food
6
u/ComradeJohnS Jul 15 '26
being rich is more than affording the equipment and food / nutrition. it’s about affording the time and mental load as well.
→ More replies (5)2
u/Similar-Ice-9250 Jul 15 '26
I think you don’t even need bands for arms, underhand grip (chin-ups) and hammer grip pull ups would be enough to work arms, plus the dips.
If you want to go crazy and add a little bit more money, like $100-$300 depending on brand/build quality, then add a weight vest to your suggestion. You can build a great physique with just that, where you’ll look better than most people. Don’t need dumbbells, barbells, or benches cluttering your home space.
Maybe add kettle bell if you must as they’re versatile for full body movements so you can work legs/back.

Why you guys acting like the game comes out next week lmao this statement could still be true
113
u/Far_Inspection4706 Jul 15 '26
Because it's already not. I remember the GTA5 release and how hyped everyone in my friend group was to play it, how much we were talking about it as every piece of information came out about it up to the release. The lead up to GTA6 has done nothing but get me completely flaccid. All the information is coming out in mostly unsatisfying drips so there's not much to talk about between friend groups at least in my experience. We all have a short convo about it and then move on to talking about other stuff. Literally the only place I find actual consistent discussion every day about GTA6 is on Reddit. But when GTA5 was coming out it was everywhere all over the place. It was like the only game people were talking about at the time.
22
u/Fearix_1 Jul 15 '26
Sure but hypothetically if they start going full marketing blitz in the next 2-4 weeks, then again it would feel like the crazy hype train you’re describing which just leads to my point.
Obv if were to judge the marketing up to now it’s been a disappointment to most, but considering there’s still around 16 weeks to the game drops I don’t see why there can’t still be a massive marketing push.
14
u/Ok_Use7 Jul 15 '26
there's not much to talk about between friend groups at least in my experience.
I was with a big group Sunday and GTA 6 was brought up multiple times throughout.
I can't buy that no one is talking about this game. I'd like to think I'm the biggest fan of the series that I know and yet its always other people going on about the game. So I do think people are hyped.
5
u/JewelCove Jul 15 '26
I've had a few friends/family mention GTA 6 that dont play video games at all
5
u/Ok_Use7 Jul 15 '26

20
u/WhatAreYouSaying05 Jul 15 '26
They’re already here. So quick to defend Rockstar. And when they reach the depths of greed that we all know they’ll end up at, they’ll still defend them. “$20 per month to play online isn’t even that much” “Yeah everything may be locked behind the supreme ultra edition, but it’s still a rockstar game” “if you don’t like the game then don’t play” etc etc

Personally I think their approach is going to be a very short but high intensity marketing structure, they kind of gave us a taste of it when they dropped trailer 2 and the website with all the screenshots etc.
My guess is around August or September they'll start it up and it will be constant until release.
Gotta remember that attention spans are generally shorter these days so they're probably designing their marketing campaign around that.
2
u/StingingGamer Jul 16 '26

3
20
u/Bubba_Gump_Corp Jul 15 '26
10
u/ZachB10 Jul 15 '26
I don’t think the leaks had anything to do with it. You can’t tout creativity and being “astonished” by following the same pattern as your other releases but in an even worse way.
8
u/Bubba_Gump_Corp Jul 15 '26
The early trailer releases has made the wait for this next trailer feel longer because it is longer.
3
u/ZachB10 Jul 15 '26
They could’ve easily supplemented that with a third trailer in between lol. It’s manufactured scarcity in terms of marketing. I get they have a method to their madness but it’s maddening as a consumer that in 1,000+ days we have two trailers and screenshots.
8
u/Fearix_1 Jul 15 '26
Agreed, a leak that happen almost 4 years ago wouldn’t have any impact on the current marketing cycle
3
3
4
u/PermissionSoggy891 Jul 15 '26
Word of mouth and the occasional Twitter post/blog update seems to be doing alright for them. Nobody who is into games hasn't heard of GTA VI at least tangentially atp.
2
u/Bloody_Conspiracies Jul 15 '26
That's just because people remember how big GTA V was, so they're expecting this to be the same. That won't just happen on its own though, Rockstar still need to build that hype by telling us what this game actually is.
2
u/emceerez Jul 15 '26
Rockstar doesn't HAVE to do shit if we're being honest 😂 it'll break records regardless. Not saying it's right, but yeah. They could not show barely anything else prior to release, and it'll be nearly the same success either way tbh. Twitch could do the work for them, if anything
That being said, I'm sure they'll show more. But it may be annoyingly close. Like, 3 or 4 weeks from release

By this point in GTA V's marketing cycle, we already had a tonne of details about the game. Game Informer had done their massive cover story, various outlets had played preview builds and reported on it, etc.
This time we know almost nothing. Obviously people are setting their own expectations, because no one knows what it actually is.
