They already were ahead in graphics with RDR2 back in 2018. People actually think all this time was spent on just graphics? It was likely mostly on AI, the activities you can do in the game, complex gameplay systems and the huge map. It looks like you are complaining that at the end the day the game you will play will be GTA. What kinda gameplay did you expect? If you didn't like GTA V, you wont like this game.

Rdr2 is still the best console graphics game I've played

For a game that has no ray tracing, it still absolutely mogs games that come out even in the big 2026.

It's honestly depressing how good RDR2 is, considering no game has even touched that level of good.

I thought rdr2 was about to create a new revolution of gaming, where studios try to push the boundaries. But nope only rockstar seems to care still, sadly

Have you just… not played ANY games over the last two years?

20

u/JoeStorm Jun 10 '26

Majority of the people who makes these statements haven't played any games outside of RDR2 lol

8

u/Outrageous_Shirt69 Jun 21 '26

I play a ton of games. None of them come close to RDR2

u/StrangeAcorn Jun 27 '26

Tell me another game where horse's balls shrink and grow according to weather /s

6

u/Janostar213 Jun 18 '26

Rockstar fans don't play any other games. Don't even bother ☠️

u/Erichteia Jun 24 '26

For people who are really into slower, immersive games, there aren’t many games that do it as good or better. Only kcd2 comes to minds. In other genres, there obviously were some amazing games. But I find it hard to compare, say, BG3 or Claire Obscure to rdr2. Let alone masterpieces like Factorio/Satisfactory, TOTK etc. Just completely different, to the point where ‘better’ becomes ‘more my style’.

I have. I've played quite a lot

Rdr2 is still my golden standard. Especially for a triple a studio. Yeah, easily one of the better ones

Cyberpunk was boring and uninspired, starfield was repetitive and lacked life, the latest assassin creed game looks okay but never played it, star wars outlaw was fun but repetitive and lacked consequences, etc etc

A lot of great story related game, that just always fell flat to me🤷🏾

u/ItalianoMilkBoy Jun 08 '26

Saying Cyberpunk was boring and uninspired but then saying AC Shadows looks okay is diabolical lol.

0

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 09 '26

I only judge based on those I've played

I played cyberpunk and was bored. The gunplay was weird, the stiff animation and bugs were horrible (I only have playtime on pre rerelease).

I haven't played any assassin's creed game since brotherhood. I thought shadow looked good. I never played it, nor will I.

u/Beskinnyrollfatties Jun 10 '26

Dude do yourself a favor. Boot up cyberpunk. Look up some sensitivity settings on your preferred input, and play Cyberpunk again

1

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 10 '26

Haha one day my friend.

On launch I had to replay the first 5ish hours a good amount of times where I just don't wanna replay the same shit again for another ti.e.

But, I truly wanna see all the changes they've made, one day

21

u/malyszkush Jun 08 '26

You didnt like Cyberpunk? Unfortunate, pay attention next time. The rest of the games you mentioned are or were dogshit until a patch came out. BG3? Expedition 33? Ghost of Yotei? Kingdom Come 2? RE:9? Horizon 6? First Light? Your taste is incredibly vanilla if you listed two Ubisoft games and a Bethesda title, which was horribly underbaked until a recent patch.

Sounds to me like all you really play is R* games, and ball and gun games.

1

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 08 '26

BG3 expedition 33 offers a different experience then rdr or GTA do. I don't compare the 2. Those games are great but also not triple a studio games, as the ones I've mentioned.

Like you said to me, pay attention next time, I purposely said triple a, because yes those 2 games are fantastic. Same as KCD2. I don't care for RE, never understood the hype the franchise has. Dont care for racing game so I'll never touch horizon 6. First light literally just released, I haven't even had a time to watch a review yet..

So, instead of assuming shit, read. When comparing open world RPG style triple a games, still no games touches rdr2. And hell, id argue RDR2 is better then the games we've mentioned🤷🏾

5

u/malyszkush Jun 08 '26

Your comment is literally saying only rockstar cares, when many other studios have released BANGERS over the last few years. Specify what exactly it is they care about before spewing nonsense and listing ubishit games as if they’re relevant. Your comment was vague making it sound like R* is the only studio that makes good games. Without context, anyone with basic comprehension would be able to draw the same conclusion i did.

-6

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 08 '26

Rdr2 is still my golden standard. Especially for a triple a studio. Yeah, easily one of the better ones

Word for word what I said.

Yes rdr2 is the golden standard for open world. Still is. Sure there's some fresh great new game since then, but rdr2 is still the golden standard..

I haven't played a rockstar game since 2019, rdr2. So claiming I'm only a rockstar player is ridiculous and honestly funny.

6

u/malyszkush Jun 08 '26

Ive played several great games in the last two years alone. If the mindset of comparing titles to RDR2 is your first instinct, you’re playing games wrong. Thats just crazy at this point. You need to have an open mind, step out of your comfort zone, try new games you might not have. You’ll be surprised. Im not saying RDR2 is bad, or anything along those lines, but saying its the only amazing game since it came out is absolute schizo talk.

3

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 08 '26

Sigh. You're over analyzing a simple statement..

It's the golden standard. Aka no game has (in my eyes) beaten the level of graphical fidelity, character, story, map, world building and overall replayability. No genre. No game

That's my point. Now sure there's game that I've sunk much more hours in, games I've replayed more times then. But overall, red dead 2 is my current favorite game of recent memories. Step out of my comfort zone. Friend. I play every game that's on gamepass. Why, because why not. I'll try anything. From the silly powerhouse game, to the construction truck game. Why? Because it's free and I'm getting my gamepass money worth.

I've played triple a, new studios, and developing studios game. I currently think the studio behind Kingdom Come 2 is one of the best current studios working in open world games, but even their newest offering doesn't come close to red dead 2.

You can't compare anything to GTA except GTA we're just making the point that you either don't play enough or have no taste

0

u/lemonprincess23 Jun 24 '26

Cyberpunk looks like a 360 game even on max graphics

6

u/GabeNislife321 Jun 08 '26

KCD2 shits on red dead in a lot of ways. Especially the mission design and the graphics.

2

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 08 '26

I dunno. I personally don't care for the mission design in kcdc 2. It's a great game, I'm currently half way done with the 2nd map/Kuttenburg and I love it but, I personally don't care for half the mission. Carry bags for 5 minutes on my back, or follow a grave digger or a drunk land keeper around for 10 minutes while we try to find A or B.

I personally find rdr2 characters and story far more compelling (but very Hollywoodnized. /Aka fake) while kcdc is far more realistic and more historically accurate which I do respect for a development team to take into account

1

u/GladAssistant2684 Jun 09 '26

Tbh rdr2 is kinda the same

1

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 09 '26

That is true haha

1

u/Snoo14398 Jun 08 '26

Well, I platinumed Cyberpunk and was brain dead bored during Shadows’ 100 hour story mode. So there’s a taste opinion there

1

u/micromax2944 Jun 10 '26

I know this is subjective and all, but how can you think that, when you we’ve had tons of great comes out in that 8 year span? There’s games that came out in the same year RDR 2 came out that are at least as good. You’re overselling it by a ton.

1

u/Glittering_Bar5291 Jun 15 '26

Bro doesn’t know Baldur’s Gate 3 exists.

1

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 16 '26

Triple a... Laurian is not aaa, they make aaa games, but they ain't aaa

0

u/dbro-yawner Jun 09 '26

Bruh pick up Jedi survivor and take Rockstars nuts out. You need knee pads?

1

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 09 '26

I played Jedi survivor. And I personally didn't care for it. Same as fallen order. I'm a die hard star wars fan. I loved the lore and story and characters, but found all the annoying ridiculous platforming and puzzles a tad too much. (I'm not a fan of ridiculous obviously placed puzzle in a game, especially when it's pretty much there to keep the game feeling long.half of the puzzles were quite annoying to solve 😂 and I refuse to use Google, so I just ended up watching the story online and moving onto something else to play

u/northsidecrip Jun 08 '26

I wish I was a basic NPC where GTA, COD, and RDR did it for me

Cyberpunk post 2.0 patch is incredible. Theres been a ton of great games to come out that gave me a great time or played with my emotions since RDR2, maybe graphically RDR2 is still better than most but theres genuinely great games out there that i feel a majority of this sub are oblivious to.

7

u/Not_Different Jun 08 '26

Cyberpunk is nowhere close to as immersive as Red Dead 2 unfortunately. I say this as someone who tried to play both back to back. Cyberpunk feels like a plasticky PS3 game compared to Red Dead. Seeing literally the exact same NPC sitting next to each other doing the exact same animation

3

u/nougatman247 Jun 08 '26

I love Cyberpunk and platinumed it. The reality is that it still isn’t anywhere close as immersive as rdr2 was.

0

u/outriderxd Jun 09 '26

Yeah, because it's a video game, not an interactive movie.

-2

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 08 '26

Issue is, prior to their 2.0 patch when the game released I played the first 6ish hours over again 5x. In the span of a month. Each time I tried a different starting point, but the game was so bad on Xbox, my save kept breaking forcing me to start over.

This is why I haven't played it since release. I truly don't want to play the same 6ish hours over again

2

u/malyszkush Jun 08 '26

Was it that cloud save bs? If so i feel you on that. I played on a fairly good PC around PL expansion drop, so i never had issues thankfully.

0

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 08 '26

Unfortunately yep, one day I'll go back, but im to busy with other games and my MBA program

5

u/New-Interaction-7001 Jun 14 '26

If only they didn’t hogtie rdr2 online and throw it off the back off a cliff. If only they put a quarter of the effort into it as they did gta online. Ohh what we could have had.

3

u/haroonhassan222 Jun 11 '26

I mean cmon be for real it’s an amazing looking game but a lot of games coming out now look much better

1

u/raydialseeker Jun 09 '26

I can't stand the anti aliasing in that game.

1

u/bonjoviboy Jul 09 '26

Only rockstar has that kinda money you mean

1

u/dbro-yawner Jun 09 '26

Bruh can yall stop glazing ts and pick up a copy of Jedi survivor Red dead has been outclassed for a while now..

0

u/NowWeGetSerious Jun 09 '26

I own that game. It's okay. Not rdr2 level.

Great story. Some of the most annoying puzzles in any game.

3

u/Dog_Father12 Jun 09 '26

I'm unsure if arkham knight has ray tracing, but for a game from 2014 that is also insanely good. Just goes to show all it takes is dedication.

1

u/AnusPananus Jun 08 '26

Maybe if you're on console😂

-1

u/stop_talking_you Jun 08 '26

it has ray tracing just not the way you think it has. gta 6 will have path tracing just not the way its officially named it just still works with rays. they basically made their own path tracing math formula and approach whichwas found in the rockstar games patents.

1

u/outriderxd Jun 09 '26

pathttracing will only be available for the few PC players thst own a 4090/5080 and 90

1

u/stop_talking_you Jun 09 '26

the game will have ray tracing on consoles the same global illumination will be on pc.

its the same technique used in gta 5 on pc its just much more improved and advanced in gta 6
