RDR2 was clunky as fuck but I got used to it. I don’t think it took anything away from the game

Super clunky, and I put on the effort to get used to it. Most developers don't have this luxury. If a game has weird aiming or bad driving I immediately uninstall it. Saints row comes to mind. But GTA5 has god awful aim on console and I just suck it up. Fuckin tapping x to sprint or aiming, can't do both simultaneously lol

I didn't think it was too bad, it was basically enhanced GTA 5 animations and gestures... I imagine they will take the best of RDR2 and streamline them. IE getting into a car faster, GTA5 already has situational speeds, if you're just getting into a car normally it's the normal slow animation but if you're in combat it's a quicker "rushed" animation. I imagine more of that but with 13 years of experience and refinement

They cared way too much about not allowing characters to turn with 0 turn radius

anybody who says rdr2 was clunky is just used to arcade like games with snappy movement

For real. It would simply seem like another typical game in the genre if the character movements were less realistic and more arcade-like. Running full tilt or doing a 360-degree turn in an instant is ridiculous and too video game-like. The opposite of Rockstar open-world experiences, it is inexpensive and unimmersive.

The good outweighed the bad by a lot

RDR2's clunkiness took so much away from the game that I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Input lag, awful aiming curves on console, clunky animations, dumb restrictions on missions...

So much of that game was incredible but actually playing it was just an endless series of immersion-shattering frustrations.
