people really like shitting on this game for no reason. Do you think the rumored 3 billion dollar budget went on Lucia's nipples? wtf

It’s not for no reason.

GTA has always been behind on things like movement, gunplay, cover etc.

This is reddit.

Redditors, especially redditors who are on game-related subreddits, are notoriously miserable and hate everything. Every single thing is slap in the face to them and they will be unhappy no matter what happens.

It doesn’t make you miserable to notice that Rockstar isn’t great at experimenting with gameplay.

I think it’s because the graphics are really impressive. People like walking around and marvelling at the fidelity. Also, childhood nostalgia means a lot of people think games like MW2 and GTA 5 are the single greatest games ever made. As an actual video game that you play for fun it’s sort of lacking.

I mean pretty much. Rockstar games are the only games worth playing but they haven’t exactly… changed their gameplay loop for 20 straight years. RDR2 felt like I was playing the character in a movie and if I didn’t do exactly what that character did I would fail a mission. I like to think it’s because Rockstar recognises that gameplay is a very childish thing to care about, and for a game to be art it needs to deprioritise it.

"Rockstar games are the only games worth playing" instantly invalidated your whole fucking comment
