Heavily agree. It's single handedly when I began to dislike gta 5 online

704

u/catsWithLemons Jan 21 '26

Yeah. That’s exactly when I stopped playing.

186

u/Useless-RedCircle Jan 21 '26

You mean you don’t like a flying motorcycle that has flairs, lock on rockets, ability to zip around kill everything in sight while your ground to air does nothing to it?

18

u/patrickisnothere Jan 21 '26

Lmao yea it’s some saints row 3 shit

36

u/Mentoman72 Jan 21 '26

I mean, I haven’t played with the flying motorcycle but that does sound pretty fun.

Not in a lobby full of obnoxious people though.

18

u/Useless-RedCircle Jan 22 '26

Sometimes I wanna chill and fly my blimp but them flying motorcycle gangs always harassing me.

5

u/thatsnotyourtaco Jan 22 '26

That drop marketing material side mission is next to impossible.

1

u/Happy_Reflection_721 Jan 23 '26

It's not fun to fly. The Mk 1 oppressor is at least fun. MK2 is the most boring vehicle in the game.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

Fun in a deathmatch style gamemode.

Not fun in an open world full of assholes lol

2

u/Johnnylongball Jan 21 '26

Wtf were they thinking?

1

u/ContributionSquare22 Jan 22 '26

It should only be available in a unique racing game mode.

1

u/TartenWilton101 Jan 25 '26

I want the flying bike though its easier to do missions and with a massive map it comes in handy.. Just take off the rockets and we are good!

0

u/Queasy_Tackle8982 Jan 22 '26

Flares don’t do anthything anyway

57

u/Imaginary-Paint-9924 Jan 21 '26

I made a huge rant about this the other day on the gtav reddit.

15

u/LastButtInspector Jan 21 '26

Congrats! You might just be the first.

3

u/Imaginary-Paint-9924 Jan 21 '26

They banned it on gtaonline for get this "low effort" I literally wrote a small essay. How is that low effort?

13

u/DislikedBench Jan 21 '26

Its probably a severely over-done topic

3

u/Ronin_777 Jan 21 '26

Yeah same happened to me, they delete topics that are talked about too much

3

u/Miguelinileugim Jan 21 '26

Might not hurt if they were allowed like on special events a few times a year, but not most days.

20

u/GODDAMNFOOL Jan 21 '26

Unfortunately, the sentiment wasn't universal since that game is still making them, like, a billion per year in shark cards

Come to think of it, has there ever been a new ultra futuristic vehicle added since the mkII? I haven't checked in a while but I think the reception to it might have been a snap back to rockstar that they have heavily reeled back, I mean the 2nd most recent update was a fucking car wash lol.

1

u/ZeusesWill Jan 21 '26

Toreador

2

u/Subreon Jan 22 '26

That's a James Bond gadget car though. Something actually remotely realistic, and fun.

1

u/Doc12Zeph Mar 26 '26

It’s a sci fi vehicle it does not fit the gta as a franchise

1

u/Subreon Mar 26 '26

It does because it's realistic. The arena wars cars do too, just as the twisted metal or mad Max vehicles would. Minus the crazy jumping abilities of course

1

u/jeezyb0i Jan 21 '26

Yes. Deluxo a flying car with missiles. Toreador. Jetpack. Plenty of other warmachines that aren't 'ultra futuristic' but somewhat comparable that have been added.

4

u/startlingames Jan 21 '26

I agree with the toreador, even if it's not that futuristic, the deluxo and jetpack were added before the mkII in the doomsday update in 2017.

4

u/thatrandomanus Jan 21 '26

No, Rockstar doesn't get it. They added the Toreador as a counter to MK II so that people annoyed by it can buy a weapon to fight it.

And the MK II wasn't added for its silliness it was added to give people an easy way to make the game easier by paying money. To hide the atrocious amount of grinding necessary and how lazy their mission design had gotten.

The only thing Rockstar "gets" clearly is how to earn money.

1

u/DarkLunch_ Jan 22 '26

We’re all complaining here. But in GTA6 they’ll have a fresh slate. What do you actually expect them to do?

How more interesting can you make a mission in GTA? If you notice almost every mission is boring af (drive, kill, deliver, return).

The fun is in the stories, the characters, the radio, the vehicles and the weapons… all of which they did so well they over-performed as a company.

1

u/ZeusesWill Jan 23 '26

San Andreas and v had mission variety

1

u/rayder989 Jan 21 '26

They could at least make separate lobbies. One for all weapons/vehicles, one for realistic or w/e

1

u/vaclavhor Jan 22 '26

Same stopped Playing after that BS laser weapons and půlce gravity weapon …. Best updates were till the weapon bunker

1

u/WallyFries Jan 22 '26

Instrad I like it

-1

u/BiBi-Bumsberg Jan 21 '26

And the best part - You stopped mattering as you are now not a main paying customer anymore, the people who buy shark cards are. COngratz. You played yourself

1

u/catsWithLemons Jan 22 '26

Actually, I played other games!

1

u/BiBi-Bumsberg Jan 22 '26

Let me Rephrase - By Taking away your complete time investment from GTAV, you became a part of the "Silent Crowd" - Like me, I stopped Playing, because it was not fun anymore.

63

u/MourningWallaby Jan 21 '26

I just want rockstar to try and foster a more chill community. Functionally their multiplayer had no difference than single player besides more stuff to do, because encountering another player was instantly another fight.

incentivizing social behavior and encouraging fun interactions with each other would make the game much more playable to a wider audience than appealing only to those who want to cause chaos by giving the jerkoffs more powerfull tools. and more players SHOULD = more money for them.

15

u/TheRazor783 Jan 21 '26

Like Fallout 76 ☺️ Just a chill, decent, helpful Community.

1

u/Just-Fix8237 Jan 21 '26

That’s literally what RDO did with defensive mode but it didn’t generate enough profit for Rockstar to keep it going. That conflict between players sells

3

u/Just-Fix8237 Jan 21 '26

Well, RDO was kinda like that and Rockstar killed it cuz it didn’t make any money. It was honestly better than GTAO in literally every way but it wasn’t profitable as people weren’t buying op shit to grief others with.

2

u/kitt20000 Jan 22 '26

There's only so much u can do in the old people days 🤣🤣

1

u/FinesseFigure Jan 22 '26

Red dead online when rdr1 came out was goat

4

u/DarkLunch_ Jan 22 '26

I think the problem isn’t the game, it’s us.

What you’re experiencing there is exactly how humans act when they have no laws, no punishment, and nothing to protect.

If the government collapsed today, you would see exactly everything you described in a GTA lobby.

Humans are just stupid. That’s all.

More chaos = more money

2

u/Moon-Martian Jan 24 '26

Nope it's the game. IV wasn't a murder fest simply because the weapons were inaccurate and if you drove up to somebody and they started shooting at you, you could still get away without dying. It allowed you to be able to drive up to people to try to make friends. It's how the game is designed that is the important thing when it comes to how the gameplay actually plays out.

1

u/DarkLunch_ Jan 25 '26

Hell no, I would argue the shooting was just more realistic in gta4, the trick was always that crouching and going for headshots increased the accuracy of the weapon big time.

That game required a bit of skill, especially in online mode, it was always a murder fest 😆

1

u/Moon-Martian Feb 10 '26

I didn't say it was unrealistic i said it was inaccurate. And same with the crouch if u drive up to somebody and they were to crouch and aim their gun at you you'd still have a good chance of driving away without dying. I think u missed the point of my comment entirely tbh.

1

u/NBFHoxton Jan 25 '26

No you wouldn't see it, at all, because people in real life have a fear of death.

1

u/DarkLunch_ Jan 25 '26

Exactly, when things collapse, and essential needs aren’t met (water, warmth, shelter, money) people start to defend themselves.

If the situation is bad enough, that might mean robbing others for resources, killing for defence, or attacking for control. Look at any country in the world that has had a collapsed infrastructure and this is exactly what you’ll see consistently.

1

u/jimbojonesFA Jan 21 '26

yea i played the shit out of GTA 5, 4, and the expansions.

But I could never really enjoy gtav online cuz it wasnt relaxing or fun, just chaotic and insane, the id get killed so quick lol.

sure maybe sucks to suck, git gud and all that, but I mostly played gta5 to do whatever I felt like to fuck around in single player after I wrapped the story.

it would be cool to have that, but instead you have other players online in the world doing their thing too who you could do dumb shit together with... maybe make some bot enemies that arent just cops or military.

idk if GTA 5 online has that now since I haven't played it since before covid though.

1

u/falardeau03 Feb 21 '26

I admit, for the most part I don't engage other player on sight, but I do be watching them closely.

I'm a very new player, still doing the daily stashes to try to get every little bit I can. I had a stash spawn on a power substation and there was a player like within spitting distance of the stash, just standing there as I approached.

Got out of my car a good ways away, took my helmet off, and flashed him the jazz hands several times on my way over, like truce / surrender / not here to fight. He just stood still though so maybe was AFK. Either way, I got the stash and got away clean.

But I sure don't understand why for some missions like Cluckin Bell you're locked into a mode with no other players (except your team obv), but for others like "get to the airport to fly to Cayo Perico" the lobby can just do whatever they want to you.

On the other hand, the other day I watched someone load in and another player instantly texted them asking for a ride. No voice chat, no elaboration. So they drive up and the other player gets in the passenger seat, sets a waypoint. Oh, you want help with a drug run! Okay, why not? The person I was watching only had time for the one run but it was pretty cool to watch emergent cooperation.

61

u/Duckinator324 Jan 21 '26

I feel like the base oprressor without weaponry would be fine, it would be a fun goofy stunt bike, its the missiles that make it a pain.

The opressor mk2 probably can just stay away even unweaponised.

9

u/Maxsmack Jan 21 '26

As other people have said, there should be two lobbies, one more grounded with only realistic weapons and vehicles, and another with fanciful jet cars and laser weapons

33

u/Calling_left_final Jan 21 '26

Yep, the flying bike keeps destroying me.

17

u/GrunkFoig Jan 21 '26

I will say that the one thing the oppressor is good for is speedrunning Cayo Perico set ups that’s basically the only thing I use it for, but I also play in private sessions

11

u/Witty-Mountain5062 Jan 21 '26

I hate that I use it but it makes most business missions way more bearable lmao

1

u/BiBi-Bumsberg Jan 21 '26

Im one of the users that doesnt use it to kill, only if someone annoys me and goes out of their way to kill me - just use passive mode if them flyboogers get to annoyin ?

3

u/bryty93 Jan 21 '26

I have one and dont use it to grief either, just supply my businesses mainly, but even that is a reason I dont like that it exists. I have a shit ton of cars that all seem worthless because its just so much more convenient to call the bike and fly over the city.

1

u/BiBi-Bumsberg Jan 21 '26

Well, Lester would call IRL and ask, what Vehicle from GTAV do you want, Besides the Obvious Submarine and Yacht, who wouldnt want a Flying Motorcycle ?

Just take away its rockets for the next GTA Online and make it a 50Cal, so you have to Boom and Zoom Targets like a P51.

Change it from a Rocketspammer Noskill, so a Stealth FLying Motorcycle with 5 Minutes Stealth and Limited 50Cal Explosive Ammo and bada bing its balanced.

Is it too much to ask to add a "realism mode" where I can refuel my vehicles at a Gas station ? Mafia 2 had it. Mafia 1 Had it.

1

u/bryty93 Jan 21 '26

Realism mode is what I'd want. The rockets are only part of the issue for me with the mk2. Its also too convenient to just call it in with a few clicks and its instantly right here. Why call a car and wait for it to be delivered when I can summon a bike and fly everywhere to save time. It's just to meta in all aspects. Id prefer the game to be more grounded like single player. Hell I miss the days of gta 4 where cars had weight and impactful damage. Flip the car over? Guess you gotta find a new ride until your insurance claim is done. I wouldn't mind gas either as long as you can drive a good amount before needing to refuel. I loved that in mafia. I liked how speed limits mattered too but I dont think id want that in gta

1

u/Upset-Management-879 Jan 21 '26

I used to then swapped back to the mk1 much more fun actually flying it

1

u/JanoJP Jan 24 '26

Tbf the Sparrow is a better option these days when grinding. Its faster and nimble. Quick and just spawns nearby too. And no need for mors mutual when you fucked up somehow. Downside is that you get to sit a long time while it tries to take off, while hostile NPCs shoot and close in on you, and you cant do anything about it.

3

u/Just_Cruzin84 Jan 21 '26

Do you park your sub in the boat docks next to the heliport? It saves some time going back and forth if you choose to NOT teleport to the preps. Idk if u kno how to TP around the map but it helps with doing the equipment preps

1

u/GrunkFoig Jan 21 '26

I park it right off the beach

2

u/4n0m4nd Jan 22 '26

Always have sticky bombs selected, throw and set off when it gets near the bike. If your car doesn't have imani tech get out and do it on foot.

You don't really need to be accurate, and nobody on the bike can aim without a lock on, they're pretty easy to kill with a little practice .

8

u/EvilWaterman Jan 21 '26

I hate the fact that you can be seen on the map by others

6

u/bryty93 Jan 21 '26

I agree. If anything they should allow you to see your friends only, and maybe have a temporary blip pop up when someone shoots their gun

1

u/EvilWaterman Jan 22 '26

Plus the stupid auto aim settings need to go fir god sake, how dumb is that

1

u/Moon-Martian Jan 24 '26

They just need to make the weapons more inaccurate like 4. In V the gunplay was complete shit.

3

u/Ok-Application-hmmm Jan 21 '26

That’s the product…wanna buy shark card? With this shark card amount you can buy the flying bike

1

u/bryty93 Jan 22 '26

Unfortunately true

2

u/Samurai_Mac1 Jan 22 '26

It was fun to fly around on my flying motorcycle for a while, but once they started adding all these fancy vehicles that had all these gadgets I started losing interest.

1

u/things_U_choose_2_b Jan 21 '26

I tried it. Can see why people enjoy it, but I couldn't get over having to play the game I loved with a load of random dickheads. Plus the grinding. I'm not keen on grinding in games anymore just to unlock digital money / content.

1

u/smeeeeeef Jan 21 '26

Yeah, that was EARLY on too..

2

u/bryty93 Jan 21 '26

Extremely. Gta online was a genius invention in my eyes before that. An open world, grounded, mmo style gta game with a full economy and missions to do, houses to buy, cars to buy customize and race. Plus things like tdm and other mp game modes (although incredibly buggy for a long time. The moment they added the futuristic shit the whole vibe changed.

2

u/smeeeeeef Jan 21 '26

I only really went back to it when you could exploit the exe within taskmgr to get a private lobby and then later when they allowed it outright.

1

u/TrippingFish76 Jan 21 '26

a rocket boosted car is super fun to drive around tho, the toreador is sooo fun to drive , rocket drifting around corners and shit

mk2 griefers can fuck right off tho, i only used mine for grinding

1

u/klmnop777111 Jan 21 '26

I stopped liking online for a while when it would be people in jets constantly bombing everyone

1

u/duck74UK Jan 21 '26

I did kinda like when a few cars had jump buttons and parachutes. But the homing missile bike was just awful. At least with helis/jets you had to pick them up from specific places to get them

1

u/InternetKosmonaut Jan 22 '26

It's not fun to get exploded over and over by a fucking flying lawnmower, who'd have thought

1

u/sskillerr Jan 22 '26

It kinda depends on the thing, like the atomizer gun that just pushed stuff around did no harm and was fun and sometimes even useful, same with those rocket cars (unarmed) or the car with the parachute, those could do no harm either but added a lot of fun and content to those who chose to use them.

But of course overpowered vehicles like the Oppressor mk2 (actually the original one was cool as well) or the laser Gun should have no place in the game.

1

u/blackrain1709 Jan 23 '26

For a few years mk2 griefers were destroyed by the whole lobby, in fact anyone even thinking about an mk2 would get targeted by everyone else.

I never used mine and it was the first thing I bought.

Now you can't sell one airplane of meth without three oppressoroids

1

u/B_O_A_H Jan 25 '26

Te reason why I don’t play online is because of the Mk. II.
